I\'m seriously considering getting a sprint PCS phone in a couple of weeks, and I was wondering what you guys think of cellphones in general. Cool, annoying, distracting, hip? What\'s your guys opinions? I\'m just curious :)
Oh, and for anyone who already has a cellphone, feel free to comment on the service plan you have and if you like it or not.

I see a cell phone as the ultimate parental umbilical chord. No matter where you are or what you are doing, there is some way they can reach you. I hate that fact. Aren\'t there ever times when people want to be left alone? The worst part about them are the people who leave them on in movies theatres. Instead of politely turning the thing off, people actually try to hold conversations in a quiet theatre! Ugh, I don\'t know if my problem is with manners in general in society or cell phones themselves.
Anyways, to answer your question, if I had the choice of having one or not, I know I\'d toss mine out the window.

can\'t live without a two-way pager or cell phone..if your busy and have lots of friends or a girl friend. I think everyone should have at least a cell phone. I MEAn you never know what may happen. You could be driving on a dirt road and get stuck...and need to call for help...there is always a need for a cell phone. And I won\'t even go into how much fun and how you must have a two-way pager.

Ryu hit it on the head. I have a cell phone, but only because my mom got it for me and pays the bill so she can call me whenever she wants.
I hardly ever use it really.

I have no use for them. I think they\'re an extravagant waste of money. I don\'t mind people using them, as long as they keep off the damn road. Some teenage shit nearly killed me last week because he was too busy yammering to someone, probably some drug-addled degenerate like himself.

We ppl think of ourselves as pretty damn high tech, just because
we have cell phones and stuff like that. But when you actually analyse what most cell phones are mostly used for it\'s this :
Useless Chit-Chatting ! There\'s still lotsa ppl around who phone in public just to look interesting, talking about virtually nothing, total crap. It\'s like :\' what\'s up ?\' - \'Oh y\'know, same \'ol\'- \'Ok c ya\'
Imo this is absolute oldfashioned use of modern technology. Of course cell phones are essentials in case of accidents, resque work and, not to forget, bussiness networks.
I have acces to a cell phone if I want. But I manage without, just like I\'ve always done.

Well, living in Scandinavia practically forces you to own a cellphone - so yeah, I have one. I don\'t use it all that much, but I like the idea of being able to call my parents/friends/whatever whereever I might be (if I need to be picked up, or my bike breaks or something). Plus you can send small text messages to your friends. :)
I hate it though, when people use cellphones in the supermarket, cinema etc. Just turn the damn thing off will ya... just because you can phone from anywhere, doesn\'t mean that you should.

Can\'t live with them, can\'t live without them.
More precisely meaning that the cell-phones can be really annoying from time to time ( when you want to be alone - or when you\'re on a public place, and have forgotten the damn thing on - believe me, it has happened and probably will! ).
but from time to time, it\'s a cheer-upper, as there\'s nothing nicer than getting a warm, loving text-message from someone :)
And yes, being a scandinavian teen without a cellphone would be freaky. Strange. Odd. I know only ONE person without a cell-phone - she\'s not strange, but I was amazed when she told me!

As Samwise said, if you live in Scandinavia, you have to have a cell phone.

Yup, we Scandinavians are crazy about these cell phones.
Don\'t use mine a lot though, maybe once every other day.

Cell phone for work = bad
Cell phone for long distance call = good
Cell phone user in car = I KILL U
Cell phones are good when you\'re away from home.

I love it. I´ve a Nokia 3210. The msg help me to keep intouch with my friends... it must be near to me... :D
Anyway next year I´m getting a UMTS, that has got many improvements, like real time tv, high speed internet connection...

My friend once was standing outside and used his cell phone to call me inside. I find it very funny to think that call bounced off of who knows how many satellites just to go 20 feet.

I don\'t know about cellphones in cars. I mean, granted it COULD be potentially dangerous, the fact of the matter is that only 1% of all accidents in the US were caused by cellphone use. I just don\'t think that the numbers represent any actual threat or scare.
Also I\'ve run into a lot of situations lately where I wish I had access to a cellphone, like trying to get directions or checking to see what time a place closes and if I\'m close enough.

I think I\'m going to be the most anti-cellphone person here. I don\'t have one, and I have no plans on getting one. When I\'m away from home or from my office, I don\'t want to be reached by anyone. I spend my workdays answering the phone, and I can\'t stand it. I dread hearing that damn thing ringing... When I\'m away from work I don\'t want anyone calling me, and I\'m happy to find a pay phone when I need to make a call.
People in Los Angeles are the worst cellphone users in the world. It seems these idiots use them to entertain themselves for every spare moment of their lives. If they\'re waiting in line ANYWHERE, waiting at the laundrette, shopping at the supermarket, etc... they call someone to fill up those vacant seconds in their life. These are people who can\'t be bothered to plan ahead enough to check a map before leaving home, bring a magazine, god forbid - bring a book to read. They have probably not read a book in 20 years. What sad pathetic lives.
Some technology does not improve our society, and I think that cellphones are an example. With the loud annoying ringing disturbing other people (especially when they let it ring while they check to see who\'s calling), the possibility of car crashes and brain cancer, and the awful sound quality of these phones... I\'ll stick with landlines, and as seldom as possible.

I\'m Scandinavian too, so naturally I have a cellphone, it\'s my second (a Nokia 3210) I got my first about three years ago.
I love my cellphone, over here in Finland they are so common that it\'s hard to imagine life without one.
Surely we\'ve had our share of people complaining about cellphones (mostly old people), that they are disturbing to others. But everyone\'s getting used to them. It\'s now practically impossible to use the subway or bus without hearing someone talking on their cellphone.
Certainly people who are not used to cellphones will be against them, as humans have this weird way of objecting anything new.

I have a very old Bosh cellphone :)
But I dont use it much.. (cuz the paycard or whatever you call it has no more markings)
And Im to cheap to buy a new card.. Even though they only cost $5..
I think they are pretty handy.. Especially for emergencys.. *lol*
They can get pretty annoying..
You hear those stupid ringsounds all over the place. :rpissed:
