Title: DVD settings, can they be saved?
Post by: sjohno on September 03, 2001, 03:48:25 AM
Hi
After changing the DVD set-up options on my PS2 (the ones you get when you press the select button) -to suit my TV and sound set-up. I was a bit angry to find out that none of it had saved the next time I switched my PS2 on to watch the same DVD. Surely you don’t have to go through the set-up each time before you can start watching a DVD with your desired set-up? I do have a memory card as well, so I\'m not sure why these settings are not saving? Any help would be very useful.
Thanks SJ

I believe you need a memory card to save your settings...especially if you get the new DVD Controller by Sony that is out (It runs the drivers through your memory card.

cheers for the reply. But thats the problem-I do have a memory card but the settings just go back to the default ones when I switch my PS2 back on. So I cant set a password for the parental lock feature or anything like that because none of the settings save. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix this?

my bad...I mis-read the message.....I had that problem with the parental controls......so i just turned them OFF and solved that problem....other than that they have always saved......do you put yours in sleep mode or turn it off in the back after you play?

yep I would like to know if when you are playing a DVD and you press the select button-you get a load of options you can change to what you want. But when I switch my ps2 off (at the back, or just leave it on standby) it doesnt save the changes i made?

When its on, I can switch the parental lock feature off, as I can set a password-but when i switch off, and switch it back on at a latter date-i have to set the password again and switch the parental lock off again....so is this information meant to save (like the stuff in the configuration menu) or do you have to set it up each time you want to watch a DVD?

I didn\'t think it was possible. I think thats something you have to change everytime. I have to do that with my Stand Alone DVD player too.

To save DVD setting do like this:
press select during a film. Make all the changes then press select again until the setup screen dissapear. then press stop. go to the dvd (movie) meny. press eject on the PS2. You should be in the Main PS2 screen now. Then turn the PS2 off. Done!

PS You cant save texture and speed on the PS one emulator.
