I have always stated that the PS2 can do realtime 5.1 sound in game.
here is the final proof:
The proof (http://216.234.188.15/news/newsstory?idnumber=000791)
Its good to be right.

OMG!
Bossieman can see into the future ;)
Its really good.. Now we can enjoy our games in realtime DTS!
Whatever the case, the Playstation 2 has proven, before any other console, that Digital Sound in games is a reality. Is it just me, or does PS2 just keep proving all its critics wrong over time?
Amen :fro:

It was not very hard to understand. Look at the EE and you will understand that you can do a lot.

Great News!!:D I\'m dying to play SSX with DTS and all upcoming EA titles (Why madden didn\'t include it? :(). Now not only graphics will be a big factor in games, also sound will make titles to sell.

It\'s a great Great news !!! :)...I thought it was not possible...who knows...maybe even compressed textures 10:1 will be possible in the next years ? :)

We are talking Ingame not FMV :)

That\'s definitely great news. DTS sounds awesome, and I can only imagine what playing a game in DTS would be like. I just wish more developers would take advantage of it. I remember when they first talked about MGS2, they said it would be in DD. How cool would that have been? (hearing soldiers all around you, etc.)

I don\'t see why MGS2 wouldn\'t support pseudo surround at least. MGS on the PSX supported my setup, even if it wasn\'t real surround sound. I don\'t see what the big deal with DTS 5.1 is anyhow, being that the average joe doesn\'t have a stereo, let alone a DTS 5.1 setup.
EDIT: I currently have a DTS 5.1 decoder, and I love it. In movies that support it, you can hear all sorts of things going on behind you. It\'s really quite amazing if you\'ve never heard it before.

I also have a dolby 5.1 decoder. watching mallrats with it is pretty cool you can hear the extra stuff going on in the mall and other stuff....
