Yup. This wednesday I\'m getting an Athlon TBird 1.4ghz 266FSB, an MSI K7T266 LITE DDR, 256mb DDR RAM, a new case and power supply, and a 20gb 7200rpm Western Digital U100 hard drive. No its still not the BEST computer ever but its a huge step up from my old K6-2 500mhz, Via MVP3 mobo (don\'t remember the manufacter), 192mb SDRAM, and my 4gb (!) Mitbishi LS-120 hard drive.
Still got the same lame a$$ Intel 740 8mb vid card though :(
But I\'m (hopefully) going to get one of the GeForce 3s (regular, Ultra, MX) or maybe a Radeon 8500 (if it turns out to be as good as they say) for Christmas, which is just 4 months away :nerd:.

P.S. Does anyone know the difference between the Pro and Lite versions of the K7T266? (I figure its just a lack of AGP Pro/on-board RAID. Or so I hope anyway.)

You might want to wait a bit and save up some more. A bunch of cool new technologies will be coming out in the near future. AMD will be releasing a desktop version of their Athlon 4, motherboard manufacturers will start making boards with nForce chipsets, and a bunch more stuff.

But if your comp is really REALLY bad (like my old one) you might want to upgrade now.
Whatever, its up to you.

SS88, You got the hookup and you got it good for a hell of a price.  All you need is a new video card and u straight!

well i just went ahead and did that samething with my computer except a little more costly

i got a

P3 1.0Ghz
GeForce3 64MB
SoundBlaster Live sound card
Altec Lansing THX speakers
NEC 17inch Triniton Monitor
256mb ram
60gb 7200rpm
@Home Cable Modem - finally
Epson 777 color printer
16x8x40 Cd RW
16x Dvd rom
and there is more - but anyway i went ahead and got all this and am having a local company build it and it will set me back about 2400 bucks

but it will be worth it :)

A GeForce 3? Niiiiiice. Wish I had one of those. It sucks when your nice smooth 20fps (yeah right) turns to 4.

I already have a monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse, sound card, video card (blek), ethernet card, printer, CD-Rom drive, CD-RW drive, and cable modem, so the price is obviously alot less.


BTW congrats on getting cable. Once you go broadband, you can\'t go back. :thepimp:

yeap yeap its is sooo much better

its like ok dl a song -tick tick tick - bam done - whoooo hoooooo

that and i decided to get the geforce3 since the place i got it from was selling them for about 275 bucks - that and they threw in some stuff for free

but yea its feels good to have top of the line again
