Nothing new. Didn\'t want XP then, don\'t want it now, don\'t want it ever. I ain\'t shelling out $100+ for an MS OS with this BS.

XP is not even out yet and there is a hack for this.. Thank god there are people out there who crack MS crap to keep them in check....
I don\'t completly condone hacking / cracking, but it keeps companies like that in check.. So they can\'t just freely walk all over everybody.. But they will walk over the people that allow it..
I will never pay for another ms product. I won\'t because of their tactics and the way they run their company...

Pathetic!!
Just pathetic.. :rpissed:
Good thing there are cracks out there..
But I feel sorry for the regular Joe computerdude!

This is why I hope Microsoft fails with Xbox. I have no respect for them whatsoever. European Union is suing MS for aggressive monopoly tactics too! Good.

The US courts by order of George Bush are not to break up MS...
I small minor slap on the wrist.. And thats it... Hey, evil is as evil does...
-
I am sure it was by the order of George Bush.
The breakup of MS would hurt America\'s economy. I don\'t really care about this BS, but I am happy they aren\'t breaking up.
I didn\'t read the article since I really don\'t care about with MS does or doesn\'t do. I won\'t be getting XP unless it is bundled with my next computer, since I don\'t upgrade my products.
MS is evil!!!!

Well i am happy with the Win 2000 Professional edition i have right now - its all good for me
i cant see my self buying XP anyway if you cant upgrade your pc - thats just plain stupid
i mean whats the point to it then - whats even worse is how this will most likely become a standard with all MS software and i just hope other compaines dont start to like the idea and use it

oops wrong tread........umm...I like WINDOWS 2000!:D :D
-
Good ol\' Windows 95 for me.:D

I assume you guys have never read an end user license. They are just taking action to make sure you abide by it. I feel weird in saying that because I have stuff from back before many of you were born that was hacked. It\'s been going on forever and it will never end. I see nothing wrong with them taking action against it. The only problem is that the people that would get the program for free still will and they are hurting the honest people out there that don\'t know any better.
I for one will not be Paying for multiple copies.
It is a nice operating system though. I\'ve had it for several months.

I am far too ignorant to read that article kirath. But i read in my paper, \'justice department\'.

http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20010802.html
Robert X. Cringely relates a rumor he heard. According to the rumor, Windows XP\'s ridiculously poor security was intentionally included to make the current TCP/IP standard unworkable under a blizzard of upcoming virus attacks. Microsoft hopes to destroy TCP/IP so they can roll out their not-yet-announced semi-proprietary replacement, which Cringely calls "TCP/MS." Afterwhich Microsoft will effectively own the Internet.

Buddy, that\'ll never happen. The internet is run by UNIX.

... AND Win NT/2000, but if enough user PCs (which are already connected to the Internet) upgrade to WinXP, the resulting avalanche of email viruses, trojan horses, DOS attacks, and other as yet undreamed of exploits will slow all servers to a crawl no matter what OS they\'re running. At least that\'s the theory. :nerd:

I got the free XP professional edition from MS(180 trail), and it deleted all my documents lol, thank god I backed them up :)

XP is not a server OS, it\'s a workstation OS. 2000 Server and Advanced Server and Datacenter Server are MS Server OS\'s.
And nobody, and the Emperor means nobody, is going to host their domain on a Microsoft OS. It\'s not smart no matter what u think of them. UNIX boxes can go for months without having to be altered or rebooted. A bad hair day can set off Windows machine to a fatal error requiring downtime and loss of data, which means a lengthy restore from tape usually.
