Well, these might be early dev shots, or might not, but NFL 2K2 looks like ****, and so does Nba 2K2, lets hope these are early, and that Visual Concepts can get them up to par with the DC versions.
-
no way. . .
it can\'t look that bad. Those must be from some other game. Then agian it is thier first time developing on teh PS2.
-
Hmm.. Who said no-way??
Anyway it looks pretty crappy..
-
geez. I assumed that you guys thought it was all about gameplay with X-Box launching soon, but of course it isn\'t.
Anyways, gameplay is what matters.
the screens should improve, if not, cry about it and go play your Madden.

-
Well im not expert here but considering these shots are extremly low-res I would say it\'s looking fine, only to improve with time.
-
Maybe I\'m being paranoid, but maybe Microsoft is paying companies including Sega to create inferior games for PS2.

I realize it will improve, and BTW, I hate madden also, only EA football game i will play is NCAA 2K2.
-
its looks ok to me
i mean it looks a lot better then gameday - although thats nothing to brag about i guess
but seriously it looks fine - still prefer madden though - NFL2k never did it for me gameplay wise

That is a very odd statement.

It looks fine to me too what is everyone else smoking?
-
Damn, what the hell are you guys whining about? After reading through your comments I was expecting n64-type graphics. It looks pretty good, and can only get better.

Yeah same here.... well... If you look closely... You notice little things like background, less people that BTW - IMO - Look more fake then other games you would see.

-
Graphically they\'re inferior to EA products on the PS2. EA does have a generation worth of PS2 experience to build off of.
as for Gameplay its a matter of taste and that will be judged sometime in November
-
IMO, NBA2k1 was THE best basketball sim EVER! But looking at that shot ajoh put up...it looks like DC, but I noticed one strange difference. The 6\' Allan Iverson is taller than Kobe Bryant...maybe the camera is playing tricks with my eyes.

Madden screens don\'t look good either. Id have to see some movies of both.
ps2 isn\'t the best for sports imo.
-
the Screens are just dark as hell. That\'s why they look ****tier than they actually are. Trust me. Even at this stage it would looko better on your T.V.

You\'re paranoid. There is no grand conspiracy. VC is just having difficulties developing for the PS2 probably and this is their first try.
-
After reading the hand on preview of NFL2k2 I have to say there are some impressive features
but I\'m not very familiar with Madden as well to determine whats better over the other
-
Umm nba2k2 is early and it looks great. UMMM nba live 2001 from ea looked like pure crap and it played like pure crap. And NFL2K2 looks good in it\'s early days. Madden has been crap for a while now. Ea just ports over the previous madden with a 5% upgrade in graphics.
Quit the your crying anybody who has played any sega sports games knows they blow ea out the box. I can\'t wait to see what visual concepts does with xbox.

that\'s a naive statement
EA sports games are generally based on simulation and upgrades the game some each year. It make 0 (zero) sense to take a football game enjoyed by million based on simulation of the sport and completely revamp it to make a few people like you happy while alienating the million who do like the game.
There are quite a few upgrades in graphics as well as gameplay animations and other isssues worked out of the 2001 version games.
I\'m sure Sega sports games are great, but I get sick of hearing this lame ass this is better then that crap being spewed by people who think that thier opinion is the supposed intelligent one.
People love EA sports games, just cause you don\'t doesn\'t mean they\'re not great at what they do, and lots of people would eagerly disagree with you.
-
I prefer the Madden 200(x) over NFL2k(x) because I think it has a bit more of a realistic feel to it. Some people say Madden is too slow, but it\'s quite possible that NFL is just too fast and arcade-like.
-
well iam dissapointed..i thought they would do a whole new engine for the PS2...i am sure is the same engine just optimized...i am sure it will play great.........

Umm when I say port the same game I am talking about in terms of AI. I mean the AI in madden 2001 was madden 2000 with shinnier graphics. I mean you think at some point in the game the AI would start to read the blitz. I mean you can run the same play back to back and the computer will never react differently to it.
I mean at least the characters in madden 2002 are not those fat little linebackers we saw in 2001. And all the reports I have heard of madden 2002 say it is the same as 2001. I have checked site after site because I was thinking of getting the game.
And you seem to have not even played a sega sports game. I am a die hard EA sports fan from way back ddarly so when I JUDGe it is because there sports games use to be awesome. And I know EA can create a awesome nba live and madden game. I just feel like they have dropped the ball lately with there sports titles.
But NBA STREETZ is a very fun game.

Can\'t vouch for the AI in Madden cause I never played Madden, nor have I played any Sega sports games. Heck I never played EA sports games besides EA Big games
I just get tired of the debate of whose better Sega or EA. SO many people swear by Madden, others by Sega I think both games from what I read in these debates have strengths and weaknesses
The reason I don\'t play sports games is cause I have no body to play with :crying: Sports games suck playing alone, and all my buds live back in NY or have moved to other parts of the country like me
We\'ll see, but so many people give Madden 2002 real high grades
-
I am a Sega fanboy.
QuDDuS is correct with the Madden thing though, the AI doesn\'t learn based on how you do stuff. with NFL2K2, if you tried to do that, the computer would kill you, it learns how you play and changes the way it defends or plays offense.
where did you read about 2K2 features, ddaryl? I would like to read up on \'em.

Hmmm...can\'t we all play nice here?
Anyways, these Sega screens don\'t look all that bad. True, in these particular shots, we have the classic "PS2 problems", but at the same time, still not that bad as some were implying.
As for which sports games are better, Sega or EA, don\'t care. The only sports game I\'ve played, Midway\'s NFL Blitz (we all know that this game isn\'t really serious sports games) and EA Big\'s SSX. Not exactly a sports fan.
