Delta alert means that the military is mobilized as if war has been declared against the country. There is no higher form of alert.
The estimated death toll right now in Manhattan is 10,000; but that is EXTREMELY preliminary. They believe there are THOUSANDS more casualties.
The scariest thing about this whole attack is that this was probably only a fraction of what they planned.

The fact that this was planned at all is sickening. However, it\'s not surprising to me that is happened. I was surprised that it hasn\'t happened a lot sooner actually. Lets hope for the best for our troops and the people who have lost family and loved ones. I don\'t think America\'s resolve will be utterly drastic, but I do know that it will be swift and flawless. Make no mistake, the greatest nation in the world doesn\'t take no guff from anybody, hiding terrorist or otherwise.

The People behind this absurd and cowardly attack have not weakened U.S. militarily...but they\'ve just provoked them...and I shouldn\'t want to put myself in their shoes when they will be annihilated ! It\'s going to happen something BIG !

I am really not surprised in the least , like Ryu, I expected this a lot sooner. The only part that surprises me is the fact it wasn\'t bio-weapons or something else . I never expected planes to fly into such important buildings. You just can\'t expect these things.
We, as American\'s have a false sense of security for the most part, we don\'t think these things can or will happen to us. We was shocked when someone bombed the WTC years ago, we was even more shocked when Timothy McVeigh decided to become famous and now we have this. A highly ocherstrated terroist attack against the US.

They was not trying to weaken the US forces. They was demostrating, which is something totally different. They was saying, "yes, we can do this" and "we will do this" and that is exactly what they did. They showed us, as a country that we are vunerable to these attacks and we can expect them.
You will notice on almost every post by American\'s, we sit and talk about how "we" *(America) can blow them up and what not . Do you think they don\'t know that? They do. They was intelligent enough to come up with this detailed plan, you can be sure they realize what will happen if the US found out who did it.
Its a sad day, but expected day.

They were enjoying it?!?!?! Post pics cuz I don\'t know how a race as itself celebrate people being killed. Other than Nazis.

You\'ll notice that I said I never expected someone to fly planes into the WTC buildings or into the Pentagon.
I simply stated I did expect massive terroist attacks against the US eventually.

Exactly, Clip. Terrorist attacks were eventual. We knew they were going to happen years ago and we prepared for the worst. Some type of massive bomb or a bio-weapon that kills millions of people. However, we never expected our own planes to suddenly turn and crash into some of the world\'s most prominent buildings. Prominent buildings are for the movies, not for real terrorist action... that is to say, until the act of terrorism actually happens.
The idea of terrorism is to envoke terror. It\'s more of a political weapon that demonstrates a very bold and scary point. We can be able to bomb the hell out of any nation on Earth. We can be the most powerful most successful people ever, but that doesn\'t make us invulnerable to the smaller nations, to a town, or to even one man.
We have shown as a country that we can succeed, that we can be successful, we can be tough, we can be strong, and today, much like 60 years ago, that we can be vulnerable as well. Now, to this list, we must add resolve. We need to target and strike the exact people who are responsible for this and we need to do it swiftly.

They were showing clips on Fox News. The people were dancing around, cheering, and passing out candy. It was really disgusting IMO. One guy(Anthony from O&A) was saying that the next video he wants to see from that area is off mothers crying at the loss of their children. He was really pissed at the footage.

It was just an isolated bunch of Palestinian retards - the rest of them are most definately hanging on to life in their war-torn country and wondering if each day will be their last - the next Hamas bomb and Ariel Sharon will kill some more innocents.
That footage was so useless - it was a small shot from a bar of maybe 10 people smiling, 3 or 4 or which were kids just happy to be on TV (incidently they were the ones whooping it up the most) - to paint a whole nation with that brush is totally unfair - the vast majority of Palestinians have lived through enough horrors that to compare them to the Nazi\'s is practically criminal.

One idea that I am interested in is going to all of the places where we know terrorism comes from and blowing them up.
The idea being "**** with us? Then you and everyone like you pays for it."
That Binladen guy has f\'d us up seriously already and yet he goes around free. Christ, I can\'t even drive 19 miles over the speed limit before they punish me more than that guy.
Anyway, in the face of that anger, I would also like to extend my sincerest sympathy to anyone and everyone who\'s life has been impacted. And let\'s face it, whose hasn\'t?

I watched the news yesterday almost troughout the night - and as I\'m not an american, as perhaps I am too young to truly understand, I wasn\'t expecting any terror-attack of this size!
I was completely mezmerized by the horror of this act.
Horrible. And yes, this is one of the scariest deeds i have ever witnessed ( well, not WITNESSED but seen, experienced, as current ) in my whole, short life.
And as USA is now on DELTA alert.
How close you are to war?
This question has been circling my head - and I apologize if it is harsh or straightforward, but I would be pleased if gotten any speculations.

Well Bush said that they will make no distinction between the terrorists that commited his act and those countries that harbor these terrorists. IMO many people (civilian and military) in these countries in question will die. Once the casualty numbers start to come out people will want blood and the govt. will give it to them.
For some reason I\'ve never been so proud to be American. Its weird.
