Peep, kids. :)
"Cool, got a call from Anthony "Dangohead" Chau tonight, had fun catching up with him. Apparently, he\'s one of those lurker types that comes in here and looks at the board once in a while, but doesn\'t post anything. So "up yers," Anthony...I know you\'re reading this! He also mentioned the thread where I blasted Doug Perry at IGN PS2 for being such a crappy writer. Hey, I calls \'em as I sees \'em.
The guy sure knows how to make me jealous, though. Apparently he just got done taking a cushy flight out to Tokyo for a visit at Tecmo to play DOA 3, among other secret goodies he wasn\'t at liberty to divulge How does he like DOA 3? He likes it a lot. In fact, he thinks it\'s going to be the best 3D fighter ever made, and couldn\'t think of ways to improve it. This, coming from a guy who LOVES to take pride in his gaming skill and is a hard-core fighting game fan.
Sounds to me like DOA 3 is the game Microsoft should be pushing as a system seller, when the XBox launches!
From the sound of it, there\'s a lot more interactivity with the levels than just break-through areas. The E3 video showed that ice pillar smashing, I guess Anthony said there are object-specific collisions all over the place. Itagaki reversed him into a throw against a tree, and his character\'s body sort of wrapped around the tree instead of just bouncing off of it. He also mentioned how precise and natural the control is, that it was almost "eerie" how great the play response was. Of course, new characters, all new levels, it\'s a sequel but it definitely sounds like DOA3 is to DOA2 what that game was to the original Dead or Alive.
If Anthony Chau likes it, more than likely I will too! :D

WELL WE CAN LOOK it at the game and tell it is leaps above dead or alive2 Hardcore. So it should run and play way above it\'s counter-part. I mean it is a year later and it is on a system that is more powerful so what should we expect the game to play like doa on psx?
-
Well we can look at it and tell its leaps above DOA2:Hardcore GRAPHICALLY(And some people even think thats debatable). But gameplay is a completely different story. Most people think its gonna be DOA2:Hardcore with a couple of enhancements to the graphics here and there.
I believe Anthony Chau thought DOA2 was pretty shallow. If he thinks DOA3 is this good, there must be quite a few improvements to the gameplay... Or he could be into the "Graphics Shock" of DOA3, but I doubt it. :D

Well I hop so but will just have to wait and see.

Could it be that I\'m not going to be the only DOA fan on the board anymore?

Heh... I was always a fan of DOA, just never really outspoken about it because I knew there were quite a few DOA haters on the boards. :p

That\'s good news. I have been thinking about what Ikakaka said about T4 and VF4 (or whatever the heck his name is), and I am starting to think that he really thinks what he is saying is true. Yes, he thinks that he maxed out the PS2 with DOA2:HC, but this is different. :) I won\'t judge it until I actually play it, but I am starting to wish that it was coming out to the PS2.

me love DOA:2
can\'t wait to see the third installment of this series!

DOA3 better be vastly improved since the second game or he\'s going to look like a fool. I think if it does at least reach soul calibre standards he\'s going to have to eat his words.
The DOA series is fun, but they are not "good" games. Let\'s be honest.

No doubt. :D Serious backlash.

Hmm... I dunno... SC was pretty good. :D Seriously, if they adjust the combo system a tad and lower the damage the counters take(Maybe even make them harder to execute...), the game will be perfect(IMO).

Uh... They are good games(IMO), and I am being honest... Most people just didn\'t take the time to master the characters.
If DOA3 is as good as Anthony Chau is making it out to be, I\'m sure this will be one of the greatest, if not the greatest 3D fighter everz(yet again, IMO. :D). :)

I don\'t know what your qualifications for a "good" game are, but it\'s one of the best-looking games for PS2 and definitely the best-looking fighter to-date. It is also very fun to play, IMO moreso than any other fighting game. Add an excellent tag mode and you have
- Excellent graphics
- Great gameplay
- Replay value
To me that\'s enough to be a "good" game.

* Nu Gundam raises fist.
Preach it brothah... Preach it... :fro:

I have previously said it was a fun game, but it is not deep and tactical like a SFA or VF fighter.
There is a typo in my previous post: I meant to say if DOA3 doesn\'t at least reach the high bar set by Soul Caliber, he will look like a fool. In my previous post I suggested SC wasn\'t a very good game.
DOA2 is a fun game, nice graphics, but needs some depth. For all his talking, DOA3 has a long way to go from there.

In term of gameplay it has to change alot, no cheap counters , no scrub friendly characters, more moves/combos etc etc. Grapically it looks easily the best and I hope the music wont be as corny as in doa2
-
Yo there\'s strategy in this game.
I\'m sorry if ain\'t like SC or Tekken or whatever else everyone plays. It ain\'t gonna play like that cause it\'s a different game.

Its too bad Itagaki hasn\'t figured that out yet. He is still basing the quality of other fighters on how DOA3-like it is.
