Ok seems the same people who made the JAP Origa chip for import originals ONLY has came up with a chip for PAL and NTSC machines for playing import originals.
The good news:
A import original chip, although not finished is working somewhere on this planet and it won\'t be long now.
The bad news:
Apparently its very hard to install. Not for the faint hearted. However doesn\'t stop you paying someone to install it.
Anyway this news is reported on the site of them people who do them other PS2 mo-d chips so I won\'t copy the site. Although anyone who like me who has been waiting for a import chip for some time - because of naff PAL release dates - and therefore reads about these things then you will know what the URL is.

:) this is good news for me, i\'ve bought import games for all the systems i\'ve owned (snes, megadrive, ps1 and n64), basically because alot of pal conversions are poor or are released months after the ntsc versions, then there\'s the games that don\'t even get a pal release such as parasite eve. i just hope sony don\'t start putting anti *** protection in games then i\'ll be able to play ffx and mgs2 alot sooner than i thought.
it\'s a pitty that subjects like this aren\'t posted more often because of the link with piracy, i\'ve always played import games and would like to on ps2, then i wouldn\'t have to put up with shoddy conversions like onimusha or atv

The good news is that Australia and the UK arent the only places with PAL

guys I hope for you it will be possible to find some one to do it for you. In singapore I asked around and all of the shop owners told me no-one dared to install the origa chip into japanese ps2s because it is WAY too risky and difficult. There are a total of 21 wires which are very close together.

Hey knowing my LUCK i wake up with a un *** PS2 , Sickness on the Carpet and one pissed of Cat with a nice new *** chip inside Her.
anyhoo thanks Rich ill be keeping one eye on this one, after all it will only help to Boost PS2 games sales in the UK :D.
Hmm if it is true ill better start learing Japanese for FF10 them :D.
i supose the good people at Sony HQ will let us all know if and when this is going to happen.
