I don\'t ^^, i just wanted to see who else dindn\'t.

*raises hand*

It may be that I played it long after it was released, or maybe it is that I\'m used to PC MSG-like games, but I was dissappointed. This is not to say I didn\'t like it, but after all that hype, it couldn\'t possibly live up to it. I did expect more.
-
I kind of liked MG, but the rest of them eat balls IMO. Overrated! da,da,da da da Overrated!

In case you couldn\'t tell from my signature...I\'m not a fan of the game.
-
Actually im not a superb fan. I played it a lot later after its launch. Completed it too. It was OK but I found some parts fairly boring. I don\'t think it lived up to hype but I do think it was a fairly decent game.
-
Not very surprising to see who raised their hands there... :P
At least you people are consistent in not liking anything about the Playstation brand...
-
yup, you\'re right, JP.
I didn\'t own 3 PSX\'s.
I don\'t own a PS2.
gimme a break. The game came out at a time when, IMO, games were still better on Saturn. This was a huge title, and desevedly so, since most of the games around it were crap, anyways. The game get\'s too much praise from people, and I don\'t find what the big deal is.

I\'m just saying that I\'ve yet to here you say anything in favour of Sony or Playstation and I\'ve been here for as long as most of you.
Just saying that I wasn\'t surprised, that\'s all.
-
I\'ve said positive things about the PSX and the PS2, but the PS2 has given me very little back (yes I own both). Just because I own the systems doesn\'t mean I feel the need to justify my purchase by blindly praising it when no praise is deservd.
I\'ve been playing games since the colleco vision and atari. The atari was a great system because it started everything. With the NES/SNES/Genesis came mario, sonic and platformers, rpgs, 2D fighting and great sports titles. Then came the PSX and Saturn and while the Saturn was a pretty bad system, the psx brought us 3d worlds for the first time, survival horror, and very impressive graphics. There was complexity (really for the first time) in games and I was often very immersed in what I was playing.
What has the PS2 done that is new and exciting? Everyone is still waiting and hoping their investment will pay off (myself included). So no, I\'m not going to sugar-coat my responces so that people feel better about their purchase. PS2 is the system with nothing new and that\'s how I feel.

I have been around here alot longer than you. And like Watchdog, I don\'t feel the need to blindly praise Sony for no reason, especially on a Sony messageboard, where tons of people are already doing it.
I have defended Sony before, against fanboys, but I usually don\'t need to, since others do it before me.

I can\'t stand the series. I never have liked it and even gave away my MGS game. Too much damn talking..Wayyyyyyyyyyyyy over-rated...
-
I love em!
Oh.. I see..
Wrong thread.. I thought it said "Anyone like MGS" ;)
I agree with JP..
-
I dunno, MGS kinda bored me although messing with guards in MGS2 is pretty damn fun. o well Back to GT3
-
And for the record I never said I didn\'t like that game. I thought it was over-hyped and couldn\'t possibly live up to it.
I also feel the same way about Bond on the 64 and Perfect Dark. I don\'t feel these types of games belong on consoles. PCs do them better and will continue to do so. Perhaps xbox or GC will pull them off, but even shooters on PS2 (UT) did not impress.
MG is not a bad game. It is a very slick game, very stylish too, but like I said previously, PCs are better suited for that genre.
-
MGS was ok. It is overly hyped. I mean it was way too short. And all those cut scenes. The story was great. The features where great but it was not deep enough and too many cut scense and talking.
I still think it is a game that should not me missed though.
-
Altered, I joined these forums about the same time as you I think.
I lost the login to my other account so I made a new one.
Been here since late \'99 or something.
Anyway, I don\'t mind people not liking MGS at all.
Didn\'t know there were so many here though. He he.
-
The story is very good, but the gameplay is kind of lacking. MGS2 completely changes this though. The gameplay from what I\'ve played is nearly flawless. I hope the story is just as good.

Have you read ryu\'s msg review part 1 on the main board he give a run down of the complete story from the begging to end you should check it out.

IMO, the gameplay is pretty identical in MGS2 compared to the 1st one. So I\'m having problems sharing your view, Ironfist. But to each their own.

I think the gameplay is extremely different now. There were so many things added from MGS1 to MGS2 that almost make the gameplay completely different. In MGS1, you were very limited as to what you could do. But in MGS2, you can do almost anything you think of doing. :)

I love it. It is the best PS game with thousands of brilliant and funny details.
-
Love MGS2, acquired taste for sure, :D

This is funny, you get all pissy with me when I say " I dont see what is so special with these Saturn Shemue pics", but when you say "I dont find what the big deal is" with MGS it isnt a biased comment, and yes you are correct in putting "IMO" with that whole Saturn still having better games at that time

Love MGS on the PSX
though "oh My God" the First time i played MGS2 Demo and still do.
Not played the older versions of Metal Gear.
so can\'t comment on them but i have played Rambo III on the SPECTRUM and it was Superb.it had the gameplay and depth to keep me hooked.
there where 2 versions of rambo 3 on the Spectrum
An Arcade shoot-em-up
and a Metal Gear Style Game (i.e close to the earily Nes versons)
and i love that one.
Did\'t own a Nes back then so never got the chance to play it.
So Metal Gear Soild was the First Solid snake game i played, still play it now and then.........

that\'s nice bozco. I am not alone in this topic, so obviously MANY others share my opinion. ANd on the Saturn one, you were alone, and deservedly so.

everyone has a right to their opinion, but i dont see how metal gear has too much talking, whatever talking there is, it\'s essential to the game\'s realism and storyline....just like an rpg, in which you have to talk to a million people to move along in the game and understand the story....atleast metal gear\'s voice acting is \'the best\'....unlike the resident evil and shen mue games, in which the smallest dialogues were annoying.
-
Shenmue has even more talking and a lot less gameplay than MGS.
Still I\'ve been enjoying Shenmue the last days but it didn\'t turn out to be that good of a game after all.
It\'s like an interactive movie where you press a few buttons to keep the story evolving.
-
I love Metal Gear Solid and I can\'t wait for the sequel. But that\'s just me. A lot a people have been raving about the next game in the series, and it makes the people who dislike the game a little distraught.
It\'s okay though...everyone has their tastes...
