Title: RPG Games
Post by: DarkchimP on September 12, 2001, 07:33:24 PM
Hey guys I was wondering what RPG games you guys think that a guy new to RPG\'s (ME) would enjoy just picking up and playing. I tried playing FF8 and was just bored to hell, I played Xenogears and was kept quite entertained so maybe there is a couple more RPG\'s that will give me the same enjoyment. Thanks guys.

I believe the front runners are Final Fantasy VII (if you can put up with the graphics) and Chrono Cross. if you have a PS2 you might want to rent summoner. Most poeple dislike it which is why i tell you to rent it. I liked it but Im a RPG person myself.

FF7 is the best RPG I\'ve ever played.  My vote goes to that.

If you have a DC get PSO, you will never get bored of this game. But if you are here you must have a PS2, then get FF VII. Is the best one available for the PS2.

Personally, I do not recommend Chrono Cross for a first time RPG romp.  The game is average until about 3/4 of the way, until the story and gameplay really start to take off.  If your bored with FF8 it might not be a good idea.  I sincerly suggest FF7 because you will get so caught up in the story and characters you wont even notice the graphics.

I love Final Fantasy VII and VIII was good also.  You just have to get into it more i guess.  IX was ok, not as good as the previous 2 but none-the-less good.  FF7 is my pick for you.

Suikoden.

You\'ll want to experience this game at least once.

Suikoden 2 is amazing.  It improves upon the original in every category.  I just didn\'t like it as much for some reason, but it\'s still a great game.

I have these RPGs and like them all.

FF VII
FF VIII
FF IX
Breath of fire 3
Grandia
Star Ocean: second story

The first RPG I ever played was FFVII, and it\'s still my all time favorite game. Star ocean is very nice too. Grandia is a bit frustrating (all those dungeons!) but worth a play anyways. BoF looks a bit old and I haven\'t played it much, it seems to require much fighting to be able to survive the dungeons. FFVIII might be a little boring in the beginning, but picks up once u get into it. FFIX is cute & simple, lots of fun.

Has anyone considered Paper Mario for the N64? It has partial cel animation, and the battle system is quite original (with "action commands", i.e. pressing buttons at exactly the right time to make an attack work) but possibly too simple for PS2 RPG fans.
