Title: Luigi\'s Mansion filled with boredom?

And that\'s where the game\'s apparent problem pops into the picture. This ghost-busting thing gets boring real quick. Due in part to the fun dynamic Nintendo has implanted into actually busting ghosts, and the hilarious mannerisms of Luigi himself, I was having lots of fun zapping ghosts -- for the first few rooms. And then it became evident that the "kill ghosts, collect a key, go to another room, kill ghosts, collect a key, go to another room" dynamic would continue on and on. Now more than an hour into the game, I\'ve grown weary and don\'t want to play anymore. If Nintendo was hoping to keep player interest long enough for something different to happen, they\'ve failed and I think I\'m usually patient with a game.

Apparently ghost busting is all you get to do as we all feared. This news is disappointing to me, but I\'m still getting the GC @ launch.

Thoughts?

Well its not like people in japan have a lot of selection as usual its a nintendo launch which means only a few games.  Luigi mansion does look pretty fun though well to me at least.:)

Expect this title\'s sales to have a sheer dropoff in sales, al la Bouncer in America.

When people know a game sucks, they don\'t buy it. It being from Miyamato, they bought it purely on laurels, al la Bouncer from Square, but everyone makes a flop. Look at Yu Suzuki, he made that one really bad game, ummm, uhhh, ... Nevermind, the ranks of untarnished developers is getting smaller :)

These things happen, I suppose.  But I doubt we are the intended audience.  Children enjoy being good at a game and often play a game to that end.  These simple play mechanics certainly cater to that.

Well console lauch disasters continue (PS2 and GC).  Place your bets on the XBOX.  I give Bill a 3-1 chance of mediocracy (but a part of me is pulling for him--I want to be excited to play something again).

Ps2 sells 1 million units in Japan without a killer app in 2 days and all 500,000 release units here in the US in about 12 hours, again without a killer app.  I think that could be defined as a success.

Yes it was successful, but the games were pretty weak.  That\'s what I was talking about.

Overall, I\'m a lot more excited about this game now than I was at E3 and Spaceworld. It\'s graphically beautiful, funny, and going to be a blast! Nintendo may have disapointed some with the lack of a Mario title at launch, and I\'m not exactly sure if Luigi\'s Mansion is a replacement. What I will say is that it\'s an excellent game so far, and I really cannot wait to get home and play more. Nintendo obviously works in mysterious ways, but Luigi\'s Mansion will not disappoint. Kudos Nintendo! VIVA LUIGI!

There is a Very gory launch title coming to Gamecube called "Eternal Darkness: Sanity\'s Requiem". Its one of the only mature launch titles, but it looks awsome nonetheless.

PS2 launch in the eyes of the retailers was a bust. The managers in my store (S etc.) said the DC launch made them a ton more money, since people were buying games left and right at launch. Sony only put out 500k when they promised 1 million.

I am not too excited by any of the recent launches, even DC that much, since I had a Japanese one before it came to America. I am not even excited for the X-Box launch, to tell you the truth, just what is coming after it, namely the Smilebit titles.
