Title: Saving Question
Post by: Scoupster on September 17, 2001, 04:22:03 AM
I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I have a question.

I have owned a playstation for a year or so and have gotten quite attached to the games on the system.  Because of this I went out and bought a PS2 a couple of weeks ago.

I know I can play my original ps1 games on the ps2, in fact I have been for a few days now.

I notice something strange....I cant seem to save any of my ps1 games.  I have a PS2 memory card in my system and all of my ps2 games recognize it, but none of the ps1 games recognize it.  Do I have to use a ps1 memory card somehow or is it that I just cant save my old ps1 games?

Thank You
Scoup

My goodness you people should start reading your PS2 manual before coming here. You can only save PSX games on a PSX memory card because the PSX memory card uses a block system (each block is 8kb) where as a PS2 memory card uses just raw space so  a PSX game wont recognize the PS2 card.

First WELCOME !
It´s simple:
PSX Games only with PSX Memory Card
PS2 Games only with PS2 Memory Card
BUT:
You can use the PS2 MC as a Backup for your PSX Saved Games !
Just use PS2 MC in Slot 1 and a PSX MC in Slot 2. Go to the PS2 Browser and you can save lots of your PSX Gamedata on one PS2 MC. To use them, just save back to the PSX MC...

I know I should read the manual .....but you know what its like to finally get something youve wanted for a long time.  You plug it in and start goin at it....totally forgetting that it even comes with a manual.

Sorry for the stupid question....I should have known better

Do what I do, enjoy the system for a couple of days without then read the manual. Although, when I first got my PS2, I didn\'t have a memory card. They were supposed to include it.

Please don\'t take what I said to personaly, I meant no offense. Its just that a billion people have asked that question and it got old a long while ago. Feel free to ask what you like, just be expecting a stupid comment from me.
