Game Boy Advance 2?

Mere months after the release of Nintendo\'s newest handheld and a report has popped up regarding a successor to the throne. Little known site with French roots, GBA-News, has acquired some information some people may or may not want to hear. If the information is to be believed then Nintendo will be releasing a new version of Game Boy Advance before the end of the year with a higher contrast and a more luminous screen complete with a backlight-- something many people have been screaming for since June 11, 2001. The big question is, however, who will pay for such a gadget with GameCube\'s release nearing and their current GBA units hardly broken in?
Nintendo has yet to comment on the story and the piece itself says they won\'t announce it until November. We\'ll have more on it if it becomes available, until then check out the original article at GBA-News.

It doesn\'t affect me at all. I quit investing into handhelds after SNK killed off the NGPC here in the US.

The last hand held I had was a game gear like in 1993 or something. :)

Grey, big Gameboy. Sorta still works. Had to hit it a few times before it turns on though.
Still, GBA, from what I have seen, looks nice (if any system has any gurantee of success, its this one). If only they fix the screen contrast problem, which this rumor seems to be pointing towards, then I would be completely sold.

Yea, I heard something about this awhile ago. It\'s the only reason I havent brought one yet because I\'m hoping for better contrast and backlit. I play on one at work sometimes and they are quite cool but we\'ve only got about 5 games out here in New Zealand so far:(

will the older games work on the new GBA?
this sounds like a cool idea, however, even with a backlight and all, i dont think id invest on a GBA with all these consoles to play with...besides, the only time i play videogames is at home on my consoles or pc...im not in high school anymore where i can sit by a tree and play my gameboy like in the past...so ill prolly pass on this one...theres always them good old emulators.

Same with me. Right when I heard this rumor about a month ago, I decided to take the wait and see approach.

the only reason i have stayed away is the poor screen design...if they come out w/ a backlit version i will pick one up asap!
smart move if you ask me.
