According to a recent interview in Weekly Famitsu with the creator of the Resident Evil series, Shinji Mikami, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil Code: Veronica for the GameCube will be ports, rather than remakes, as reported earlier.
"The three titles will be ports," Mikami said. "If we remake them, it will take a while until [Resident Evil] 4 will be released. I\'m sure the users are eagerly awaiting Resident Evil 4, so please bear with the ports."

He also added that Capcom plans to release Resident Evil 0 less than a year after the release of the first game on the GameCube, which is currently slated for spring 2002 in Japan. Resident Evil 0 will initially take place inside a train, and it will also include several situations where players can swap characters.

GameSpot will have more on all the Resident Evil games for the GameCube, including the remake of the original Resident Evil, as it becomes available.:thepimp: :thepimp:

Well this sucks only RE 1  is going to be remade.  Their just ports?  Whats up with that crap? :nerd:

Well, Resident Evil is the best one, (my opinion) And the highly anticipated Resident Evil 4, And Resident Evil 0, are exclusive, so 2 originals are much better than 3 remakes.

This news sucks, but I can understand why Capcom is doing it.  It\'s all about the money.  I am kind of glad though.  I want RE0 and RE4 now! :)

Re-make all 3 games?  No, not in this timeframe.  Making a game, even just re-making, takes a long time.

And all of you know damn well that people would be *****ing at Capcom for delaying RE 0 & 4 to make remakes of games.  They were in a lose/lose situation.

I\'m sure the ports will be improved slightly. There is no way Capcom would just port a 32bit game with no enhancements to the GC.

Either way, it was a lose / lose situation. Delay RE0 and RE4 for remakes or just port \'em and get RE0 and RE4 out on time, while remaking the first one.
