Bush just made a wonderful speech to the american people and to the world. He thanked britan for it support and gave the outlines for what to come. he thanked the people who died and their cause. I felt he gave a good, straightforward speech that gave the world the stance of america.
"We will not just stop with binladen and his regime, we will go until all global terrorist groups are ended and destroyed"
he also said that "if a country does not join our cause, they will be considere on the side of terror. and are sure to suffer the same end as terrorism will"
i think it was an extraordinary speech. so all you guys who just saw it, give your word.
-
I think it what made it so great was that he spoke from within, not off a teleprompter. You could see it in his eyes, the pride, the worry, the dread, the sadness, the hope, all mixed. I thought his actions displayed so much along with his words.
I was almost in tears when he spoke of the policeman\'s badge he will carry around with him for his life.
On the other hand im really very scared about the future. Im 17....the draft? And more important than that....war, on our front?
-
I thought it was an awesome speech. I totally agreed with eveything he said.
Tony Blairs short speech earlier was good. That showed total British support for the US

He was too almost in tears when he spoke of the badge, and the people who died. you could see it.
and i dont think there will be a draft. The special forces alone are enought to take out the forces. plus we have the support from many other countries.

The speech rocked, period. Bush was right on target and hit all of the buttons he needed to. I ESPECIALLY liked when he talked about how we need to be respectful of proud, good-natured, patriotic arab-americans in this country. He made a good distinction between mainstream islam, and radicals.
Also, Tony Blair\'s remark about how the United States came to Britian\'s aid in WWII, and that they\'re going to come to our aid in this war, was AWESOME! It\'s so cool to see that there are nations out there that appreciate what we do and help is in our time of need when we\'ve helped them in theirs.
Too bad France isn\'t one of those countries....

It was a very good speech. I loved it. Too much clapping though IMO. But Bush did make a very good speech and I hope he sticks to what he said.
-
I agree with you there. Way too much clapping. All I wanted was too hear the man speak. Not everyone clapping after every sentence
-
Too much clapping? Hehehe. That\'s all the politicians are good at.
All kidding aside it was a great speech. By the way, he did read off teleprompter. That\'s what those two pieces of glass are next to the podium. He didn\'t necessarily read it because he read it probably 1400 times in the past two days.
The president is strong right now. He is serving us well. I think the best thing that has come out of this is that people realize just how important it is to have a strong cabinet. They freakin kick ass.
-
unfortunately, I missed it. Does anyone know if it\'s online somewhere or if they\'ll replay it?
-
You are going to see so many clips today you will essentially see everything but the clapping.
-
I loved it, I did not see the whole thing but what I did see filled me even more with patriotism for the US
Whoo hooo:bounce:
-
Not until now was I ever so proud to be an American.
I\'ve been shuddering at the thoughts of what would happen with Al Gore as president right now:eek:
-
yeah weltall. His actions would be to find them and put them in prison for 5 years.
oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh... (goosebumps)
i dont even think he would do anything about it.....
-
I wish Ronald Reagan from the 80\'s was in charge, now there was a President ! lol :D

You can\'t defeat a enemy that is always going to change... There\'s always gonna be terrorist.. no madder how many are stopped or killed. You defeat one enemy, Then move onto another. By the time u defeat that enemy. Someone else will replace the first one..
It will never end. :/
Take a look at crime.. There\'s always police out there.. But crime still exists. You can\'t stop it.... Someone will ALWAYS CHALLENGE cops.

True, the same can be said about drug lords in South-America,
one gets nabbed, another takes his place.

I disagree Soulgrind. I think by America flexing their muscles here and acting on terrorism is makes the terrorist communities stop and say, "wow we could get ourselves into some serious -bleep- here." They might weigh the consequences and with SO many nations helping in this fight they will realize its a lost cause. It just that terrorism has gone pretty much unchecked these past years that terrorist think they will succeed, and usually do.

That may be true for these Islamic extremist nut-jobs, but what about the other terrorists? What about the Hamas, the Tamil Tigers, etc? These are terrorist organizations born from oppressed/marginalized people - their lives are so cr@p, and NO ONE will do anything, they can\'t wage war because they might not even have food to eat, so they have to turn to terrorism to get their point across.
As long as there are marginalized and oppressed people there will always be terrorism. And that\'s the clue - sure, stomp out the terrorists, but also think about why they would be so dedicated to a cause that they would kill themselves to achieve their goal.
Instead of waging \'wars on terrorism\', \'wars on drugs\' etc, why don\'t the rich nations of the world wage \'wars on poverty\' and \'wars on oppression\'. Think of how many trillion dollars are spent on weapons a year around the world - if we just spent a fraction of that on making sure people have food to eat and a place to live then maybe people wouldn\'t go around blowing each other up.
But I digress with my idealistic ramblings......

I agree.

As long as there are men on this earth, there will be evil. It takes those who will stand up to that evil and stop it to protect the innocent.
America has the power to stand up and bring justice to these people. Let others come and see what we will do to them. And they will know what is waiting for them if they try to do evil. As long as God is with us we will always prevail.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." --Deuteronomy 31:6

yes i see your point, i was quoting what bush said, but i doubt that we will actually be able to take out all the global terror orgainzations. i am researching them in school right now. i have learned alot abou them, and they wont stop. i highly doubt that we will be able to stop them, but i like the president\'s courage in this situation.

It\'s true that you can\'t destroy every little criminal out there. But Terrorists rarely if ever work alone, they\'re always part of a group. In the world of organized crime, they would be called The Mafia. The Mafia has been all but destroyed. The Terrorists will be as well. Organizations present large targets. Scatter these organizations, and the individuals will not have the money, timing, or knowledge to perform an attack like last Tuesday\'s.
It is probably impossible to wipe out terrorism completely, but we can ruin the major terrorist networks, it\'s not impossible.

and with our global alliance, i doubt it would be hard to scatter the global terrorist networks.
and this just hit me.... when will we know weve won....?
we wont.

We\'ll know when people stop bombing us and killing us and flying planes into buildings and all other terrorist stuff like that. But until we know for certain that terrorism is dead, we won\'t know.
Something just came to me. It was probably mentioned but I didn\'t read what everyone wrote. If we destroy and kill the terrorists that are wreaking havoc now, in a few years, won\'t other terrorist organizations start up and start to attack us again? Yes they would unless we take serious action and show these terrorists and future terrorists that they will be taken down. It is just like crime today. Crime is a prime example. We take down an organized crime group, others will spring up in their place. Maybe crime members that we didn\'t take down yet. We can\'t erraticate terrorism for good. We can only slow it down.

Unless the US/the western world changes their way of acting there\'ll always be someone around to hate them - and someone mad enough to do something about it.

It\'s too bad we have to charish our pop music. Our flying kites as children. Our allowing our women to go outside. Our allowing women to show leg.
Whatever. This is worth fighting for. What am I saying. We aren\'t even really fighting the muslims. We are fighting these extremist freaks.
