I mean there chances in japan. If they annoucne support for xbox monday, I say xbox will have a strong chance in japan. Beating out sony? I doubt it. It would be almost neck to neck with them. Plus, along with the other 3rd party support I would say xbox is going to be around for awhile. In the U.S. xbox seems to be doing real well with the bundle selling out and everything. SO I\'m pretty excited about the xbox. So what\'s you guys thoughts on this?:thepimp: :bounce: :thepimp:

I think that Japan is Sonys whatever happens. They have 85% now, And maybe the x-box can change that a little bit but Sony will have Japan almost by themself IMO.
I hope x-box sell good in US. The competion is good and the gaming world need competion.
If square says that they are going to support the x-box, well that wont change things very mucho.

i definately do not see x box doing well in japan at ALL.
remember TGS? with bill gates speech, the only people clapping were his employees in one corner of the crowd.....
i think sony has japan, but america is up for grabs.

Well it wouldn\'t matter to me--I dont\' like the FF series anymore (has gone stale for me, CC is better IMO), but in Japan it would mean instant credibility as a console. No console can survive without square in Japan and EA in the US. Still xbox has a long way to go to catch up to ps2.
With MG, FF and DOA the Japanese audience will not be able to shun xbox so easily.
This race could get interesting though. If square does start supporting the xbox I will have to think long and hard about a purchace. Right now, the only thing that worries me is the (somewhat) uncertain future of the console, but if MS has Square...
As it stands right now, I am more interested in Halo and DOA than any PS2 exclusive (J&D looks great though, although I do think that Munch is a worthy replacement).
MS with the all mighty dollar is making things happen in the video game industry.

It really depends on which games they get and what sort of exclusive content is included in the cross-console titles like FFXI. So far I see nothing that makes me think that Xbox is going to be a huge succes in Japan but they will have enough Japan-centric exclusives to leave me with little doubt that it will be solid.

The other post I made about "ign comments on square\'s xbox support", the rumored games are FFXI, Chrono Trigger X, and a busido blade game. So that may help out a good bit.:thepimp: :thepimp:

I thought FFXI (the online FF game) was already confirmed for the Xbox. I guess I shouldn\'t listen to the people at teamxbox.com. :)
quote from Watchdog:

The Japanese don\'t like MG (I\'m assuming that\'s Metal Gear) even close to as much as the American audience does. That is why we are getting it first. :) DOA might help it succeed, but Japan really likes the Virtua Fighter series and I don\'t know if they would be willing to change, especially if the game is on an American (*gasp*) console. :)
The only game that would make Xbox start to dominate in Japan is the FF series. FFXI won\'t be enough because it\'s coming to the PS2 also. But if the Xbox got an exclusive FF game, the Japanese would swarm to the system.

Again I reiterate: The X-Box needs DragonQuest in Japan to make the Japanese REALLY consider a purchase. FF is great, but DQ/Enix will practically ensure AT LEAST 4 million console sales, guaranteed.

DragonQuest? *IronFist goes to an emulator site to find this so-called "DragonQuest"* :)

Careful fisty... DragonQuest in Japan is DragonWarrior in the US. :)
-
Hm, I thought they loved MG, but you are probably right.
Either way, I still think FF is THE one game that Japanese gamers look for and respect.

They do love MG but we love it lots more. Thats why we are getting it first, because it sold better over here than it did there.

Ah thats where they are wrong there will be a Combined release of Final Fasntasy online on the PS2 and PC Format with the "link" System that alows both PS2 and PC owners to play the same game and each other.
Ahhhhhhhhh Bless.

Completely off-topic but that sounds risky. PC users will doubtlessly create cheating tools for that game. If they can play with PS2 users that could create a very uneven playing field. Has Sqaure mentioned any solutions yet?

GOOD IS NOT AN ADVERB, GOOD IS A CONJUNCTION!

I\'m sure all the information will be kept on Square\'s server,. characters info, etc. So that will keep cheating to a minimum. It\'s only when the character info is stored on your own HD that you can mess with it. It still won\'t be 100% foolproof, but there\'s less chances of it happening.
