Title: Is there a VGA adaptor available for the PS2??
Post by: SonyFan on September 22, 2001, 11:51:54 PM
I guess I\'ve been kinda spoiled by the DC\'s VGA adaptor. I hooked it up to my bigscreen today and couldn\'t believe the difference. I mean, I wasn\'t really impressed all that much when I first started using it, but now it\'s hard to go back. I was jus wondering if there is a PS2 VGA adaptor and does it how well does it work? What\'s the max rez out put on the PS2?

The Max resolution is 1280 x 1024p @ 60hz but the video output that the cable transfer is standard 640 x 480i which sucks and was dedicated for standard tv.  Anyway, most games that I know haven\'t gone past 640 x 480p, some got to 720 x 480 (widescreen), but that is about it dued to limited VRAM.

I hope someday when the ps2 potential is discover, the res could go up to 1280 x 720p @ 60 for widescreen.  But now, so far I haven\'t seen any games get to that res. yet, not even XBOX which is more powerful!

Also, don\'t buy the radant VGA cable, i think it kinda suck because it doesn\'t transfer true VGA, it transfer something like line doubling but the picture looks much better on pc monitor than tv nonetheless.

Wait for Sony to bring it VGA adapter probably out November the same time the Hard disk Drive and LCD screen come out in America.  It give true VGA transfer but you monitor\'s cable have to have a pin that support (sync on green) to make it work.  Otherwise, you\'ll get a blank screen on your pc monitor.
