Cobra Hardware Arcade Racer
Not too long after Sega\'s own Model 3 hardware, pushing over a million polygons per second, was released debuting Virtua Fighter 3, Konami announced they had their own hardware in development code named the Cobra. Konami\'s goal was a board pushing five million polygons per second, at a cheaper cost than Model 3. First Konami showed a fighter that in my opinion was a bit lackluster. This is the second title to be shown on the hardware, and it looks leaps and bounds over their fighter, and over Model 3. Scud Race/Super Car was just released in the arcade, and from seeing that and now these pictures, this looks to be quite more impressive. I apologize for the poor scans, as they don\'t do justice to how the pictures look originally. I bet the pictures don\'t even do justice to what this looks like in person. All I can say is it took me a long time to determine that these were actual game footage and not just video. In the original pictures they look very photorealistic.

Whoa!!!!!!! This came out in 1997!!!! I mean this could easily pass for a xbox, ps2, dc, or gamecube game. I wish I got to play this game. What\'s your thoughts on these graphics? They look sweet to me.

wow! that\'s real? What game is it? That looks better than GT3, IMO, because the textures and backrounds seem superlative.
Better than any DC racer. :)

The name of the game is "racing jam", it does look very similar to gt3.
-
looks alright the backgrounds are nice but the cars arent really the greatest in comparison to some other newer titles
still quite nice for a board from 1997
-
Look at the third game pic\'s blue car. I think that looks mega-realistic, unlike GT3\'s over prevalence of shine and lighting. THe headlights pic look amazing too.

It\'s very good for 97. It\'s still good for today. Those graphics are pretty good but I\'ll take GT3 anyday.

If I\'m not mistaken that\'s from Konami. It doesn\'t look nearly as good in the actual arcade, and GT3 does look better. I\'ve played it plenty of times @ a local arcade. It is kinda neat though, but it just looked odd on the screen. Konami also had a fighting game using the cobra board which I think was supposed to look better than VF3.

This game is present at Gameworks here on Guam.
I love playing it when they have the ulimited promo card things. Just stick the card in about a 100 times and you can\'t go wrong. :D

mr. Eric Jaocb, there be nothing wrong witht he shine in GT3...on early demos etc. it did go a bit overboard, but i feel the shine is adequately realistic, and as you race more dulls out to look more like those cars
:fro: toot on
besides...shiny = more tantalising eye candy

I remember seeing a version of shenmue on the Saturn somewhere. I don\'t think that it was hoax either. Don\'t remember were I saw it though. Hell, it might of even been from somebody posting a link to it on these forums. Well anyways, it looked pretty good. Better than most playstation games even. Really has nothing much to do with this thread other than the Saturn, the Model 3 board and the Cobra board (which I actually remember reading about in EGM all those years ago) all existing in the same time period. I\'ll go sit in the corner now.
