well let me say that was let-down by the graphics. First off I saw waverace don\'t get me wrong the game looks good, but the main thing that was impressive was the water-effects. The background textures looked blain and low-res, overall I wasn\'t blown away. Next I saw nba courtside I must say the framerate looked between 20-30fps and the model weren\'t very good neither. Sega\'s nbk2k2 beats the pants off the graphics, but who know maybe the game will be good. Nba2k2 runs at 60fps so whats up with that nintendo? Next up was luigi mansion which looked pretty good, very nice looking model and detail backgrounds. This game really shine in lighting, but once again I wasn\'t blown away. I mean its wasn\'t like looking at mario64 for the first time. It was just pretty good thats all. Next up RL2 which I will admit was very impressive with massive detail and textures abititlies. I mean I have to get it to factor 5 this game is a beauty too look at . I was finally impressive with one game and that was RL2. I saw pikmin the graphics were okay it had some pretty nice textures, but nothing mind-blowing and guess what? Once again it was only 30fps. Perhaps the biggest disppointment is that RL2 was the only game that ran at 60fps, which I thought sucked..........sucked bad. Overall I saw the xbox video as well and I can truly say xbox has better graphics than gamecube. Trust me guys just look at both consoles in motion its clear that xbox has better graphics. I was expecting more from the gamecube, but instead I was dispppointed with it. Overall does it blow away ps2 and dc. No way!!!!!! I don\'t even know if it looks as good. Most of the games looked liked high-res n64 games. The only thing saving that video was RL2 other that nothing mind-blowing. If you seen the cube in motion give me your thoughts.:thepimp: :thepimp: :thepimp: ;)

Not the first time I\'ve heard that opinion. Though I\'ll wait to judge till I see the GC myself.
GC\'s graphics underwhelming? Say it isn\'t so.

OMG it sounds like the PS2 all over again. I havent seen it in motion but some games are looking great an some aren\'t, expect that, give the console time.
-
People just expect too much.
We should of all learnt that from the PS2
-
If anything, this is what people should be expecting from the GCN at the start(The ones who aren\'t familiar with its hardware, anyways. ;)). Nintendo was underhyping it, remember? :)
-
c\'mon humans...dont fall for the same trap....its not common for a new console to have mind blowing games at launch....although it would be nice and some consoles such as the Dreamcast, did blow me away, but that was because it was the first 128bit system and seeing those high rez games, was a whole new experience at home.....the ps2 sucked ass at launch and guess what, its looking mighty damn good now...although i could care less about the gaycube (had to throw that one in there), i doubt it will look like a high rez N63 1/3 forever...im sure come next year it will be pumping out some pretty good looking games..i know resident evil looks good already and starfox adventures looks pretty good too...
-
I\'m not saying gamecube doesn\'t have amazing graphics. Just look at RL2 and luigi mansion its just that it wasn\'t that much of a improvement over the dc or ps2.:thepimp: :thepimp: :thepimp:

Besides Rogue Squadron and some other titles which can be played on my PS2 I really don\'t see anything that would interest me at all on the Gamecube.

WTH? Rogue Leader is an exclusive, Luigi\'s Mansion is exclusive, Eternal Darkness is exclusive, Super Smash Brothers Melee is exclusive, Star Fox is exclusive, Pikmin is exclusive, All Resident Evil remakes and The highly anticipated next Resident Evil is exclusive.
Some people are just in denial about it.
Luigi\'s Mansion has so much better lighting than the PS2, So far it has really demenstrated the GC\'s lighting abbilities.
You can\'t even compare Rogue Leader to Starfighter or any other space sim on PS2.
I don\'t see some of your guy\'s logic here. So far, lestat has the best post here. Lets face it, PS2 had Armor Core 2 and Madden 2001 at launch, other than that it was dead. GameCube has a huge launch library of about 12 A-A+ titles.
And I have seen RL running a long time. This week I am going out to Best Buy and Toys \'R Us to take my first gander at the little cube, and I might pick up an orange controller there ahead of time. Until next time.......

Hmm... it\'s interesting to me. I plan on getting a GC but I don\'t know if any of the launch titles even interest me. maybe rogue leader dunno.

Umm, I hope you aren\'t saying that the PS2 can\'t do great lighting. So far, the PS2 seems to have the best lighting, and Silent Hll 2\'s lighting effects are up to par with Luigi\'s, IMO.
I\'ll hold my final judgment for when I play the GC however. (and xbox)

You forgot to put IMO. I mean where to do get this crap from that gamecube has 12 AA titles?!?!!?! I would love for you to please name them. I wasn\'t impressed with the cube it just wasn\'t mind-blowing or anything.

I think you missed what ProfessorX was saying. He wasn\'t saying that all other games were coming to the PS2. He was saying that if the game was ported over to the PS2, the PS2 could handle it just fine. Most NGC games so far are not graphically superior to the PS2.

Yes, the NGC has better lighting than the PS2. I\'m not going to deny that. But games should not be made as tech demos to show off the power of the system. They should be made as games. Luigi\'s Mansion is lacking in a lot of areas, namely, funfactor.
You can\'t even compare Rogue Leader to Starfighter or any other space sim on PS2.
I don\'t think its fair comparing the NGC\'s best game to a PS2 medium-good game. But if that\'s what you want to do to make yourself feel better, go ahead.

Armor Core 2 and Madden??? I take it you didn\'t really pay attention to the PS2 launch, did you? If you did, you would know about the games that got good ratings (TTT, DOA2:HC, Timesplitters, and, I guess Madden. You got one right.) And like Rastalant said, I don\'t think all those games are AAA titles. Actually, I think RL is the only AAA game so far (from what I\'ve heard. I want to actually see it before I agree that its AAA.)
BTW, I have heard that RL is just the N64 game with extremely good graphics. If so, that really sucks. Does anyone know if this is true?
And I have seen RL running a long time. This week I am going out to Best Buy and Toys \'R Us to take my first gander at the little cube, and I might pick up an orange controller there ahead of time. Until next time.......
Enjoy. :) I know I would if I had the money. :)

Those games hardly made the PS2 launch good it was SSX that saved it and 12 AA titles at launch?????.......NO.

I could compare gt3 to an gamecube racers. Oh I forgot nintendo gamecube doesn\'t have any racers at the time. That figures..........:thepimp: :thepimp: :thepimp:

I\'m with everyone else, just give it time.

rastalant,
Are you the same one from the Playnow Forums ?

"Yes, the NGC has better lighting than the PS2. I\'m not going to deny that. But games should not be made as tech demos to show off the power of the system. They should be made as games. Luigi\'s Mansion is lacking in a lot of areas, namely, funfactor."
Fair enough, but it seems that from people who own the game, the fun factor is what saves it. It\'s a short game and that\'s apparently its downfall. The save is that it\'s fun enough to play through again to top your high score. People seem to agree that Sega\'s Super Monkey Ball (also exclusive), however, is more fun - especially with other players. Just thought I\'d drop the name since Super Monkey Ball hasn\'t been mentioned yet (and since when it is brought up, it\'s usually dismissed as a nothing).
"I don\'t think its fair comparing the NGC\'s best game to a PS2 medium-good game. But if that\'s what you want to do to make yourself feel better, go ahead."
I get what you\'re saying here, the only thing that gets me is how you say RL is the best game. It isn\'t out yet, and you haven\'t played it.
"Actually, I think RL is the only AAA game so far (from what I\'ve heard. I want to actually see it before I agree that its AAA.)
See? :)
"BTW, I have heard that RL is just the N64 game with extremely good graphics. If so, that really sucks. Does anyone know if this is true?"
And finally, no. It\'s an all new game. A game like Wave Race includes, in addition to its new stuff, updated versions of some of its prequel\'s tracks. But Rogue Leader is brand-spankin\' new!
And one more, from rastalant:
"I could compare gt3 to an gamecube racers. Oh I forgot nintendo gamecube doesn\'t have any racers at the time. That figures."
True enough. XG3 will be out by Christmas, though (less than a month into the system\'s existance). And of course to a lesser extent there\'s stuff announced like Wave Race, Mario Kart, and (stretching) Crazy Taxi... Don\'t be too shocked when the F1 and NASCAR games pop up by next year, either. I say give it six months and the racing genre will already be bloated and tired.
Anyway, that\'s just my speculation and your point is still valid - for now.

From what I\'ve heard, the opinions are split about this game. Some people love it. Others think it is very repetitive and nothing more than a game to show off the NGC\'s power.

Yeah, I\'ve heard that Super Monkey Ball is a lot more fun too.

I was basing what I said on what I have heard from magazines and people who have played it. This game is one of the best games ever graphically.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Eiksirf, Super Monkey Ball was announced for PS2, not exclusive anymore.
