There seem to be a lot of stories around now like THIS ONE (http://www.salon.com/people/feature/2001/10/11/dread/index.html) about how US citizens are getting panicked and worried. They claim there\'s a new FEAR in the United States over what the next terrorist retaliation will be. Nutty stories are flying around about how "a friend of a friend of my sister said she helped an Arab man, and the man repaid her by warning her not to go near a shopping mall on October 31st..." etc. etc. I admit that I\'ve seen it myself recently. I attended a planning meeting in my company in preparation for an evacuation drill, and ordinary people were asking all sorts of nutty questions, basically displaying their fear with no reservations.
I find this hard to understand because I\'m not afraid. I feel like, if some Islamic terrorists want to "kill all Americans wherever they find them" then let them come to Los Angeles. I\'d like to meet one, and I know some guys in Compton who would like to meet them too.
Are the majority of Americans really so shallow that they haven\'t considered their own death before? I\'ve thought about it, and I\'m not worried. If my number comes up, whether it\'s from breathing an Anthrax spore or crashing into a telephone pole, I\'ll accept it. I\'m going to take precautions and try not to increase my risk, but I\'m not going to live my life in fear just because some a$$hole in Afghanistan says he wants to kill me. I\'d like to see all of us, both our governments and as individuals stop making decisions out of fear, and start acting more boldly.

I agree with what el presidente Bush said tonight in his Address to the Nation that if we are scared, then the terrorists have succeeded. That was their goal, to make our nation freeze. I, personally, cant let them succeed. Plus, due to the internet rumors get around MUCH faster now, false information can be spread in a mouse click. I only really trust the major news networks for hardcored information.
A freaky side note: Read Caleb Carr\'s "Killing Time" if you want a new outlook on news.

I\'m not - but I\'m not american. I live in a small, un-important Finland. No terrorist attacks will be targeted here.
But I\'m afraid of biological weapons. If one is shot, no matter where, the disease could spread ( along winds ) very far and wide.
If Germany gets shot with one, for example, Finland will suffer also.
But - that\'s just imagination. It is believed that Talebans have biological weapons; I just wonder wether they truly are stupid enough to use them.

That\'s the thing. I\'m not scared, but I wouldn\'t hesitate shooting a would be terrorist. I\'d hit them with a brick or anything I could get my hands on...

The only thing I\'m afraid of right now is people who don\'t comprehend English, but post at English-based message boards.

Me no comprende, Senior .
BTW, someone exploded a bomb 3 hours ago in Madrid and nobody cares. Terrorists( ETA) killed a lot of people in the last 20 years in Spain. You just can\'t get obsessed with something like this; in every second of your life, with every decision, there\'s always the possibility to die. What are you going to do, close the doors and windows and stay at home without doing a thing?. Even then, you still could die.
That\'s not how real life works. You just have to learn how to live with all this things. That doesn\'t mean that you should ignore them, but you have to find a way to maintain them in a second place in your life.
No, I\'m not afraid.

Me?

No, I\'m going to close the doors and windows, stay at home and play Gamecube. ;]
Me personally? I hope I get anthrax from a terrorist, recover, and get to go on tv and talk about it.
I want to mention bin Laden burrowing further underground, clutching his rifle while the terrorist camps and bases crumble, and pose the question: Who\'s scared now?

I don\'t fear for myself personnally I fear for those who suffer, and those who face the horror themselves but survive just to have to re live that day for the rest of their lives

Where I work, we had an Anthrax scare tonight. A mysterious package addressed to NBC came in, had white substance on it, someone threw it away, and then a hoist truck driver threw it into a trash compacter. Well, when it got to the supervisor, he decided not to evaculate the building yet, but then two people got sick (flu probably), so they evaculated the building for that crew (A-CREW).. I came in at 7:00 pm, the parking lot was empty but they was still going to go ahead with work, but you was allowed the choice to go on if you wanted. I just stayed the night, but I worked right next to where the state police / hazards chemcicals people / safety managers was looking for the package. As of 7:00 am (I work 12 hour shifts) they still had not found it and most people had called in "sick" for today\'s shift.
I truly doubt it was anthrax, so it didn\'t worry me, but I think I don\'t blame most the people for not coming into work or leaving early.
Personally, I refuse to quit living my regular life because of a terrorist attack. That is what they want. They want to change the way we live and opress our daily lives and luxuries, I refuse to let that happen.
