Shenmue 2 and PSO on ... you guessed it... X-Box.
http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2817507,00.html
Have fun with that one buddy. :)
-
damn you ryu, damn you! You couldnt let me have just one thread for me to start so I can say...
BOOYa Grandma!!
The only bad thing is I may have to wait to play Shenmue II now, now that it will be USA X-Box exclusive, perhaps I will have to import it now, play the USA one later?
I am shivering at the thought of Shenmue III on X-Box!
Eric Jacob
-
Well this gives all those people a chance to play the Shenmue series without buying a DC, thats a relief, well IMO shenmue wasnt that great anyways but then again a lot of people liked it
-
those ingrates who didn\'t don\'t deserve to play the madness that is Shenmue.
but I will allow it for Sega\'s mad success that is waiting to happen this generation.
Eric Jacob
-
I\'m not willing to import Shenmue II at some outrageous price and go through my Japanese dictionary deciphering that strange alien code (even though I do speak a LITTLE bit of Japanese. I guess that means I won\'t be playing Shenmue II till roughly 2002 Winter since that\'s when I\'ll be getting an X-Box. That kind of sucks.
BTW, Altered, find yourself a new pic that is worth keeping and PM it to me. I\'ll host it for ya on my site, that red X sickens me.
-
what a pal! Lemme look around for one, althoguh it has been established with every server crash I change to another Phantasy Star picture :)
give me, say a few minutes :)
Eric Jacob
-
Is PSO still coming to the NGC?
-
The game will not be released on the Sega Dreamcast.
Yet another reason why people hate SEGA and how they !@#$ you in the !@#.
So for all the DC owners wanting to play Shenmue II, they are screwed. Good going SEGA, thank you.
Now I have to buy the freaking black box to play Shenmue II, and when the hell is the release date? I doubt it\'s going to be December still. Yay.
edit: Found this snip over @ Gaming-Age;
The game won\'t make an appearance until Fall 2002, effectively delaying the game an entire year for the US audience.
I can\'t contain the excitement, thank you SEGA.

SEGA has completly turned its back on the american SEGA fans..
LOL.. That figures.. (*cough* $$$ whores *cough*)
I thought they were better than capcom, konami, square ect..
But noo..
Well, we must wait and see.... again! :sleepy:
-
Thank God for small miracles.... at the same, damn Sega for delaying the game for it can be XBox exclusive in the USA..
-
quite interesting.
I wonder how many fans Sega will get because of this and how many they have turned away.
datamage and L-I-C, you can always import the UK one at the beginning of next year, it will be English and you won\'t have to wait or the Xbox one.
Personally, I will be getting the import Japanese one, UK one, and the XBox one.
shoot me, I am a sega fanboy.

this is terrible news....
i was looking forward to shenmue 2 this december...and i was happy that it would give me an opportunity to enjoy my dreamcast again....but this news just pist me off...
now i have no choice but to buy the x-thing regardless...
sega better make Nights 2 , exclusive for xbox also.
-
I have to import a European game to get it in english? STrange I\'ve never had to do that before. Oh well, I guess Sega really doesn\'t give a rat\'s ass about the DC owners out there. A year is just too long of a wait for Shenmue 2 even though I won\'t be getting an X-Box till about the time that Shenmue 2 will release for it.
Altered, are you positively sure on that European release because the DC sold even less there then it did here and Sega is still snubbing us. I guess we\'ll see, but I do hope you\'re right though. *Kisses modded DC*
Also, I see your pic is fixed, are you going to keep that one or take the new nifty new one you sent me and PM it to MM?
-
MS only owns the rights to the US one. That means distributing, advertising (maybe it will get more adequate ads), and porting.
but in the UK, Sega still owns the rights.
There are already translation/walkthroughs on the net if the Japanese one is the only left.

I have a question about Shenmue 2 US version on the Xbox. How will either Microsoft or Sega benifit from this? The Japanese gamers have already played Shenmue 2, so it won\'t help the Xbox sell in Japan at all. And all this does is make tons of Sega fans mad, which will hurt Shenmue 2\'s sales, and the Xbox\'s sales in America. Bad move by Sega.
-
For those of you planning on importing from Europe, that won\'t work either.
http://www.gamerweb.com/content/tgs101101_06.html
"Sad but true. A game that was to be Dreamcast\'s grand finale, the last spectacular title on the machine, has been cancelled and is now coming to Xbox instead. The Japanese release of Shenmue 2 on Dreamcast hit stores last month, as you will know from our huge coverage. But that\'s all. No DC version in the US, and we\'re reliably informed, Europe either."
Sega, what have you done to your fans?!!

I like Shenmue, but not enough to buy an Xbox. I\'m really not that surprised by the move, Sega always manages to take a strength and turn it into a weakness. On the upside of things, Sega just helped me free up about $50. :D
-
People who say that Sega has given up on their fans aren\'t Sega fans and never have been.
Your opinions come with exactly 0 (see that in bold?) weight behind them. Look at L-I-C, he is a Sega whore, not nearly as much as me, and he is disappointed, but not NEARLY as much as he is excited about the possibilities and outcome.
Alot of you were going to buy an X-Box or were close too it, with Panzer Dragoon and Shenmue II exclusive, how many more reasons do you need?
who turned it\'s back on it\'s fans? SoJ if anything. SoA had DC selling great, considering it\'s dillema, but SoJ canned it anyways, sure games will get released there first, not sell well, so they can them for America, none of these choices come directly from SoA, NONE!
So quit *****ing about games you don\'t care about, nor a company you never cared for!!!!!
Sega has done the right move, and if you read the Charles Bellefield interview on IGN, you will realize that this is the ONLY way for the Shenmue series to continue, on a system that can handle it\'s scope, it\'s vision, and it\'s capabilities.
You people sicken me to the fullest.

That was a nice rant Altered, but how does this help Sega with the sales of Shenmue 2 or Microsoft with the sales of the Xbox in Japan? I understand the future possibilities (read: 2 to 3 years from now future), but Sega screwed its fans with Shenmue 2 whether you are willing to accept it or not.

OK, you can take Sega\'s wang out of your anus now. They screwed their American Shenmue fans. Do you think all of us want to buy a new console just to play the sequel? I could see if the sequel was announced for the Xbox. IT was announced for the DC and was a little over a month away from being released. I had my pre-order ready and everything. YOu yourself said that SoA did a good job selling the DC in the US, so why not release the game that most of us are still holding on to our DCs for?
Will I get Shenmue when it eventually launches on the Xbox? Yes; but that doesn\'t mean its not a kick in the balls to a lot of Sega fans. Despite what your fanboy brain(oxymoron?) is telling you.
-
Thank you Gohan, you saved me a heck of a post.
SEGA fan here, and I am extremely disappointed. SHenmue II was done on DC already, what SEGA should have done is continued the series with Shenmue III on the XBOX and announce that as exclusive. I don\'t care what you think Beasty, SEGA gave us the shaft, and swallowing it doesn\'t make you any better of a SEGA fan.
/ dm /
-
You\'re right, Sega did give the 100,000 people who would of bought that game the shaft. DC is dead, it\'s time to accept that. Sega is only making a good business move. Throw pebbles at them all you want, but the fact remains Shenmue 2 will sell more on Xbox then it wil on the DC. And money is all that\'s important for them right now. Money\'s all that is important to every developer out there.
fatson,
Screwed them and taken their money..
Like a true *****!
And what do you call Sony\'s PS2 launch? Sony fan\'s appreciation day? By giving a lot of it\'s fans faulty units? GOD BLESS THEM. I love seeing people getting ripped off by the company they praise so heavily. Sick humour? Yes. But humour nonetheless. :)

So if you got a faulty PS2?
Every system has a few faulty consoles.
You get it replaced for free.. The only thing you pay for is time..
It takes them about 1-2weeks to send you a new one..
:D
PS: Btw, you spell my nickname F A S T S O N... I dont know if you knew that Gurkan..

No, mainly just Sony\'s. Gotta love them I don\'t know anyone who had a probem with their N64 or DC.
PS2 has a "X" day warranty. Once it expires, you can\'t return rn it for free. You must now pay a ridiculous price to fix it and wait a very long time(example:Luke). Kudos to Sony again.
Do I even need to mention the shortage at launch? I think not.

Gurkan? LoL. C\'mon, a fourth grader could insult my name better than that. Spin again.

so import it. Quit *****ing, wait another month and import the UK one. Or don\'t wait at all and get the Japanese one, or wait for the X-Box one.
You guys seem to think that you have no options left now that X-Box has it exclusive in the US.
Sega hasn\'t made a profit in over 5 years. The guy who used to bail them out all the time DIED. They now actually need to stop caring for each individual\'s cries of sorrow and try and make some money. It\'s no doubt that Microsoft paid ALOT for this game exclusive, none at all. And the CHARLES BELLEFIELD inteview (no one read it, I am guessing) explained that even if they did release SII on the US DC, the sales COULDN\'t ever match what they put into the game, couldn\'t. they need a profit, see where I am going with this!

I tried explaining that to some angry DC fans on some other boards, they weren\'t even trying to listen... Too upset, I guess.
-
too blinded by anger sounds more like it.
I think the pissed off fans, fans that stuck with Sega after SegaCD and Saturn died off, will return shortly, back into the comfortable fold of Sega games.

I guess you missed the post I posted on the first page. Here it is again:

I can see why Sega did this. They are trying to build the userbase of the Xbox so Shemue 3 will be a huge success. But it still isn\'t right. I don\'t see how even the most diehard Sega fans can hold on anymore. They have been thrown around time and time again, yet they still worship the ground Sega walks on. I dropped Sega after the 32x, then almost picked them up again late in the Dreamcast\'s life (I got a Dreamcast, but I didn\'t buy any Sega games -- only a ton of 2d fighting games. :))
Maybe people will learn to forgive and forget, but it\'s hard to tell right now. Sega has been given a second chance with all that money given to them. Let\'s see if they use that second chance to succeed, or if they were destined to fail...
-
That is a street rumor as of yet. MS didn\'t get the rights to ShenmueII in Europe, ONLY in the UK, there is no reason for SoE to cancel SII in Europe.
Until Charles Bellefield says it, or the **** that runs SoE says it, it is BS, like the Square on X-Box rumor.
Eric Jacob

Beasty,
I know all of the logical reasons why SEGA did what they did. And in the end, I don\'t care for their reasons. Yes I\'m upset, yes I\'m still getting it on the Xbox, but it goes to show SEGA doesn\'t give a sh!t about its fans. Just money, just like Sony, just like M$, just like Nintendo. Remember that next time you criticize any company for their business strategies. Not everyone can afford every console, and not everyone wants an Xbox, so those that still prefer their DC, got shafted in the !@#.
I\'m getting an Xbox, but I am still displeased with their decision. If it wasn\'t going to sell that much, big deal. Bring it to DC, and then bring it to the Xbox enhanced. Those wanting it @ the end of this year shouldn\'t have been screwed in that manner.
Funny how you would stick up for SEGA regardless of the news they bring. Though I can\'t say I\'m surprised.
