Political Update 10/11/01
Another blow to the Aerospace workers and workers across the country.
The Worker Relief Package amendment failed in the Senate 56/44. We needed 60 votes for passage. All the Democratic Senators, 1 Independent & 5 Republicans voted with us.
We are outraged when the Republican leadership wanted the 15 Billion dollar corporate airline bailout, they committed to support the 1.9 Billion dollar worker\'s relief package. The airline corporation got their money, the workers got zip.
Your union will continue to fight for our laid-off members and the worker\'s relief package.
Please continue to check this web site for more information
This information was taken from my union website
Also for the record I will not be getting laid off, at least not this year because I was retained, but I will be watching close to 3500 other people get pushed out the door and a few of those people are more then jjust co-workers, they are very good friends of mine
I have to admit I am outraged and this, bail out the corporation but screw over the rest of us who are equally effected

What\'s your point? If you work in the airline industry, it wouldn\'t matter whether you were a Democrat or Republican. You would get screwed either way. Does anyone think the airlines\' 15 billion bailout will result in fewer jobs being cut? Unlikely. My guess is that it\'s being used strictly to maintain the air carrier\'s stock prices, and meet debt and shareholder dividend payments.
Actually this should have been expected. The Republican party represents american CORPORATIONS, not american WORKERS. It\'s funny how so many ordinary working class americans ignore that and continue voting republican.
Now, the democratic party also represents the corporations, but just not so blatantly.

Sorry to hear that, ddaryl. But glad to hear you still have your job. I worry about all the lay-offs.

Sorry to hear that ddaryl,
i hate all polititians equally, just a bunch of pigs... IMO.

i didnt even know you worked in the airline industry.
my cousin works for American Airlines.

I\'m not a democrat, nor am I a republican, but I have to admit I never really cared for republicans for this reason. Its alwya companies and rich 1st. Democrats can be equally annoying giving to many handouts to deadbeats as well.
I work for Boeing here in Washington, since Airlines are hurting they can\'t afford to pay for the planes we are scheduled to make therefore Boeing has to put the brakes on production which means people have to go out the door.

I was just pointing that out but there was no point, I know it wouldnt matter anyways, he is screwed, and there is more to being a republican than just that, thats why they keep voting republican
