I think so if you look real close it looks like its using a blur effect. Plus look at the main character you can see a little bit of jaggies on his head. Your right at first I thought this was a pre-render.

Final Fantasy 10 looks better than this does. I wouldn\'t really expect an online rpg to be the best looking thing ever and this isn\'t beyond anything that I have been expecting. It looks good though.
-
These are pictures from the Beta version. They have been on the Japanese PlayOnline website for sometime now (http://www.playonline.com/pol/flash/ff.html). The pics are all realtime and networked. Which is one reason I am going to love this game.

Wow, graphic looks decent. With lots of characters and action on screen, I don\'t know how Square manage to keep it on a constant framerate of 60.
Ifrit in ffxi looks so much like ff8 ifrit. With little difference like high texture and slightly higher polygon counts.
FFX have much improve looking ifrit than FFxi but ffxi at least have real shadow now...not like (cough...black spot shadow in ffx)

Wow, very impressive........ I\'m sure PS2 and Xbox will be fighting over graphics for a long time to come..... But if all games look like this, I will be very pleased..... I mean come on.... That first pic may not be the best compared to Xbox, but you can still understand what\'s going on.... I say it looks pretty enough....:)

I know I\'ve mostly been impressed with xbox and ps2 games so far. As for gamecube the most impressive games on there are RL2 and RE. Other than that I can\'t think of nothing mind-blowing......:thepimp: :thepimp: :thepimp:

Greatest. Special. Effects. Ever.
Looks like they are going for special effects, and lots of characters on screen...considering, this is ONE DAMN BEAUTIFUL GAME

Screw PSO this looks amazing for an online game.
-
I thnk FFXI looks excellent and its still got a while to go before its done
FFX is a completed game, but you also need to remember that FFXI is a masive multiplayer which means many more players on screen at a time
-
They featured the Final Fantasy XI trailer that came with FFX in Japan on Extended Play\'s "Intro of the Week" and it just plain looked bad.
The textures were crap, it was jag-o-rific, had plenty of alaising and pop-up that would be hard to ignore on any game.
I am looking for major improvements when a playable version is displayed, but I can\'t say I have very high hopes for this game gameplay wise. They should have definitely called this FF: Online, that way the fact that we are getting an online game wouldn\'t interfere with the new releases of regular FF games.
-
I doubt because they call the game FFXI it will have much if any effect on what Square does for FFXII
the game is still early in development, but these screens look just fine for this stage especially
-
This might be a good game. Since all the are doing is making another fantastic RPG, but online.
-
I wonder if i will still be alive when this game comes to europe

What I meant is that normally we get something like one FF game per year. And now were going to be getting a real FF every other year perhaps, with Online FF games in between. They should have just made both series completely independent of each other.
As for the graphics, this game (unlike most PS2 games) looks far worse in motion than it does in screenshots. You can\'t really notice how bad the pop-up or the flickering is in the still shots. It just looks poorly rendered.
-
nice shots... now you can see the evolution of the game.

i like i like

2 things I\'m going to love about FFXI
1.) No turn based battles (which is obvious from these screens)
2.) and the amount of players and enmies on screen at a time
