DOA3, a 9.5 out of 10? Roofles.

Guess what? Halo got a 9.5 out of 10 as well. I guess both titles are AAA quaitly titles. :thepimp: :thepimp:

Halo, eh, arguable. It looks good. I don\'t think there\'s any way DOA3 could ever deserve a rating like this, though.
The gameplay hasn\'t changed in any way at all whatsoever from the first version of it. Nothing about it screams "Ultra stellar killer game". The graphics are nice, the character designs are nice, the levels are nice, but there is absolutely no innovation at all whatsoever here. It simply is not the type of game worthy of an ultra high rating like this; neither was DOA2. Even if it\'s well executed, what it is executing is nothing expansive. This isn\'t the type of transition we\'re seeing from MGS to MGS2; this isn\'t the type of change we\'re seeing from Extreme G2 to Extreme G3; this isn\'t the type of change we\'re seeing from GTA2 to GTA3; this isn\'t much of a change at all. Nothing about the game shouts out to me.
That\'s all my opinion, obviously. I just don\'t see it as the type of game to get excited over. I frankly think the whole fighting genre as a whole could use some more originality (SSB is an example of a fighter that used original concepts), and the DOA series is one of the worst in that area. So personally, I do not think it is deserving of a 9.5 out of ten, at all.
This is going to be just as bad as PSM, I can already sense it. When Xbox starts getting truly spectacular games, such as Project Ego, what will the editors be rating it, if they\'ve already used up their highest scores on games like DOA3? "Oh, ______ is too good for our rating system.."

I really wold love to play Halo. There have been some decent 1st person shooters on the PS2 but nothing AAA

Well............I guess it depends I was a huge fan of doa2 so I think doa3 would deserve a fairly high rating if it improved in most spots. Sure doa2 to doa3 may not have "revolutionized" the series, but if its not broke don\'t fix it? As for SSB sure its orginal but I thought the game was way too shallow. As for the psm yes the rated almost every ps1 and ps2 game high. So hopefully the xbox mag will be more honsest.:thepimp: :thepimp: :thepimp:

I agree, I had a lot of fun with DOA2. I don\'t really understand why people call it shallow. A skilled player beats an unskilled player everytime. Although I\'ll say I prefer VF as a rule, I think I\'d play a game like DOA3 more often.
A game like VF has a incredibly steep learning curve--so much so that when my friends come over to play, there is no competition and therefore no fun. I could let up on them, but then there is no fun for me. We end up playing different games and let\'s be honest all games are more fun with other people. The fact is that most of my friends don\'t play video games and only play if they come to my house.
With DOA (and Tekken), novices have the ability to pull off moves and still have fun.
Being an incredibly deep fighting game isn\'t necessarily a good thing--it\'s the balance that is important and that is why I am looking forward to DOA3.
And in all honesty, if I want a truely deep and meaningful fighting experience; if I want bragging rights, there is no 3D fighting game that is adequate. Even today, the 3D arena fighters haven\'t caught up to SF. SF (series) still is the definitive fighter.

I agree I just enjoy games today. Sure you may have some fighters deeper than other but its all in good fun ain\'t it? Tekken 4 was personally one of the best fighters I\'ve ever played. Yes I\'m looking very forward to doa3 as well. I guess you guys knew that.:hat: :hat: :hat:

That\'s fine, not bad logic at all. But don\'t give it a ridiculously high 9.5 out of ten in your magazine if there\'s nothing "fixed" in it.
I prefer the sites/magazines that are particularly harsh in their reviews, honestly. Otherwise they turn out with pathetic review systems. Notice how it\'s generally console-specific magazines that have the poor review systems with the unusually high ratings per game? Hmm..

DOA3 deserves a 10. It\'s graphics beat the pants off any other game and it\'s a good fighter with interesting styles and a good give and take combat system.

YES!!! Hyundai is in the game! I am definetly buying it now!!
I always wondered why Polyphony didn\'t put the WRC Hyundai Accent in the rally car section. This is great, that baby has 300hp, more than WRX, Corolla, etc. :)
