This is a message from another board :
Sheesh first they release Windows XP to the public, complete with full Raw Sockets support, and then they have to go ahead and block "alternative" browsers from MSN.com
It\'s pretty frickin deliberate too. If you have Mozilla, you\'re blocked, if you have Opera, you\'re blocked. If you change what your browser identifys itself as, i.e. change Opera to Oprah in the id-line, the site loads without any problems.
But if you go the standard way, you get this message:

If you are seeing this page, we have detected that the browser that you are using will not render MSN.com correctly. Additionally, you\'ll see the most advanced functionality of MSN.com only with the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer or MSN Explorer. Gee thanks alot Microsoft. If this isn\'t anti-competitive, what is?
This is why I hope MS fails with Xbox as well. And why YOU should too!
Have fun! :D

This pisses me off as well
Oh well stop using MSN homepage
they are monopolisitic bastards, and obviously will do anything to deter any competition
to afraid to play fair
what chumps

I predict that Microsoft will now pay much lower bandwidth costs, at least. ;)
Is hotmail blocked?
-
dont you think MS would like you to use their browser? That isn\'t monopolistic, it is just like how AOL forces you to use their browser, same thing. Only AOL is a much worse service.
Win XP is a highly impressive piece of software. I had to watch a video of it at work yesterday so I could tell people the features of XP. SOme of the stuff really made me believe MS has made a quality product.
The guy was using a 2 month old, unfinished beat of it and he did several plug-and plays, had tons of programs running under several differnt user\'s names (which he switched to on the fly), plugged in a camera, loaded it automatically, thumbnailed the pics and showed them to you. XP also has new tech that can resize an image or sound file to an extremely different size.
There was several other things, and if my comuter didn\'t suck balls, I would buy it, without a doubt.

There\'s a difference in liking people to use a certain browser, or forcing it on to people.
-
Well, AOL is a crappy ISP, but they really don\'t \'force\' you to use their crappy browser though. Afterall, you can still use IE or Netscape despite the fact AOL has its own. I should know, I have AOL.
-
That is pretty stupid althought its not a big deal to me. I use hotmail and I havent used any other browser.
The major things I like about XP is its interface and its Hibernate function. Say if I hibernate my computer, everything in the ram is stored onto the hard drive, and when i turn my computer back on, it loads in about 12. BTW its stable as hell, it never freezes up on me.
-
Hibernate is nothing new in XP. My laptop runs NT and does that too. It\'s good to hear that it doesn\'t freeze on your PC though, I know it does on my friends one (and I set it up).

XP Pro has sum glitches but i love it
