so says a bunch of IGN posters last week
but what interests me is that http://www.Sonyweb.com just update there release list and FFX is scheduled for the Day after Xmas
This is actually a smart move by Sony if they have anything to say about it since EA is the US publisher.
WHY you ask
Cause if you are like me when I was younger I always got lots of cash from a boat load of relatives on Xmas, and since I would be going to the gamestore to pick up a must have FFX I would have all that cash in my pocket to burn on more PS2 games since I\'m already in the store with a whole burning in my pocket
Hope its true !!!!
-
But isn\'t that the day after Christmas? Oh well. At least it\'s still being released earlier than thought before...:)
Thanks for the info...
-
Day after Xmas is a good plan for SOny like I said above in my original post
-
i dont know about it being released after xmas..some stores will be closed even a day after xmas. and shipping the games would be a boat load and hectic..if they do, companies are taking the risk of shipping packages

I\'m sorry for the smilies, but YESSS!!!!!!!!!!! Now in December we get J&D and FFX! Yet another really good month. :)
-
FFX US release date 26th of December 2001 :D
FFX UK release date 14 of MARCH 2004 :crying:

ROCK ON!
my birthday is Dec 26!!
if thats true this will be one badass birthday.
-
another reason why i think it wont be released after christmas is, where will some or most people be during the holiday ?.....on vacation. so no one will be here to buy the games. so if they release it right after christmas, they will be losing alot of sales.
if they are smart. release it first or second week of december or next year

There are two things wrong with that. 1. Games don\'t go on sale for one day only and then are taken off the shelves. They are for sale for months and months, and sometimes even years after they are released. People can easily come back from their vacations and pick up a copy. 2. There are stores all over the world. They could pick it up on their vacation if they think they need to.
-
Very good to ehar friend. The only thing I have to complaine about is that I have to visit my girlfriends familly all around christmas. I never had much fammily to visit before so I could do preety much anything. If this is true then I would be greatly pleased and disturbed at the same time.
-
The day after doesn\'t make any sense since for the games to be IN stores the day after, they would have to arrive a good two days before since NOBODY ships on Christmas day... at least in the US. So, if the games are there already, why not sell them?
-
i could care less how they got what - all i know is i want it and i want it now
and since dec 26 is closer then jan im all that much happier :)

im not saying that you sell it for one day and then take it off the next. the point of selling software is to try and make as much sales. isnt that their purpose for games is ? for us to enjoy while they dig in our wallets ?
MGS2 will no doubt be the biggest launch game in history. so why not release it a day after thanksgiving better yet, after xmas.
so you going to tell me software companies arent after sales? that is their main goal.
think like them..think marketing strategy.
-
Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!, I go from ICO to DMC to GTA3 to MGS2 to ........ then to FFX probably, the sooner the better
-
Don\'t you have \'boxing day\' in the US? Here in Canada, at least, the 26th of december is synonymous with great sales, one day only, where a LOT of people goto stores, to buy those things they\'ve been holding out on....
Boxing Day - remember it.

I am thinking like them. When would they make the most money? In the middle of January, or right after Christmas? Ddaryl gave a great reason why it would be way better to release it right after Christmas. Lots of kids will have tons of money to blow on something. Why not blow it on something good? :)
I don\'t really care why Square is releasing it right after Christmas though. All I care about is I\'ll be getting it a whole month earlier. :)

I don\'t know. That would be a lot smarter wouldn\'t it? I don\'t understand what your point is with this (sorry, I\'m a little slow ;))
-
my point is, shipping games will be slow..its the holidays, especially during xmas. stores will be closed a day or two after xmas...and im not say ALL. most people will be on vacation like in cancun, or hawaii or other countries visiting family and friends or just relaxing on the beach. i bet thats what all them publishers, distributors, and developers, even the head honcho at Square would be doing during the holiday.
and a big game like FFX is, IGN or any other gamingsite would have posted the news about it already. wouldnt you agree ?
-
but hey, it could have been a typo at sonyweb. it could be true. but dont get your hopes up too high until theres OFFICIAL news about it.
if it does come out the day after xmas, the more the merry\'er. if not, the worse is it comes out next year.

Basically its a special day for all the stores to be opened and selling everything they can for low low prices, i know they wont lower the price of newly released video games like FFX but boxing day gets about half of the city into shopping malls ans stores across the city

Boxing day is great...
here in Buffalo we even have sales for boxing day since we\'re on the border...

Hey dude I sent you a PM
I\'m originally from Buffalo myself Hamburg actually
but the day after Christmas almost every gamestor is open and all the kids who raked in all the dough from Xmas are willing to spend it so why not attract them into the gamestore to buy FFX and why they are there they\'ll probably pick up another PS2 game or so with all that loot
Wait till January and the kids will spend all there money on somethign else

No, I doubt very much he meant March 2001 :D. You can probably expect it in March of 2002... I pity you to the fullest extent of my heart.
Ps2gamer_59 - Thanks for explaining boxing day to our American neighbours (sp?), nice to know there\'s a local boy on the forums with me. (Alta Vista, Ottawa resident :))
-
I hope it is true but I won\'t get excited until something is confirmed. Then I will leap for joy.
