The x-box controller actually rivals dc in ****tiness.
it just feels so weird, but I\'d say x-box is better cuz. Donno if mc n sega actually try to make their controllers a complete piece of **** though
1.the dc analog sticks really sucks n hurts ur hands
2.only 6 buttons n 1 analog stick
3.u gotta pay for vibration

I do not particularly enjoy either controller. They are both unwieldly, and both have extremely painful shoulder buttons. But at least the DC one was smaller and had a much better button layout.

What Mej said.

I loved the DC controler, except for the stick which game me problems. After working with the Xbox controller for a while I must say I\'m beggining to like it. It is really very comfortable and feels very well built.

I love the DC\'s pad.
if they didn\'t have the letters depressed into the buttons, it would have been better, though. they kill your fingers on button-holding and smashing game like Virtua Tennis and Tony Hawk.
I held and played with the X-Box controller and it seemed to be much better than people made it seem. The controller is more comfortable and fits right in your hand.

I hated the DC pad at first, but I\'m getting pretty good with it. (the left shoulder button is still hard to hit thoguh). I can\'t wait to get CvsSNK2 this week for PS2 so I can use a truely awesome controller to play a 2D fighter once again. :)
I hate playing against my brother in Street Fighter 3 when he has a PS2 controller w/ adapter and I have the DC controller. It sucks not being able to do Ken\'s fire uppercut whenever I want because the button is so hard to hit.
Off Topic: Two days ago I had a couple same-player tournaments with him. It was first one to get 10 wins is the winner. First we played as Hercule, er, Hugo. ;) I beat him 10 to 8. Then we had the Ken battle (every time I play him in any Street Fighter, we always seem to go have our "who has the best Ken" battle. :)) I wasted him in this. I beat him 10 to 6. :) Usually it is a lot closer, which is why I call that "wasted." :) Today he came over and wanted to redeem himself. Unfortunately, we didn\'t have enough time and I said to come back on Thursday for the CvsSNK2 tournament. This Thursday is the day when we find out who is really better at Street Fighter, same controllers and everything. :) Muahahaha.

Yah, I am. No competition is necessary. ;)

I\'d say that the people who complain about the XBOX controller probably have small hands because I like the thing it fits me pretty good. The DC controller was pretty good but could have been better if the trigger buttons weren\'t so far down.

He he he, in your dreams. ;) I am the Street Fighter MASTAH! :D

Well from what I\'ve heard, and from what I\'ve seen, I will not like the Xbox controller. I have big hands, so that\'s not a problem. But I also have big thumbs -- that is a huge problem. If they are going with a 6-button face layout, they should have made the buttons farther apart to make hitting the middle buttons easier. And the triggers sound like garbage from what I\'ve heard.
I could have gone and tried the controller out for myself numerous times, but the Xbox is really the last thing on my mind right now. Many times I have been in the same room, yet I didn\'t bother trying the controller out. I just don\'t care right now.

guess the dc controller sucked cuz sega was stupit n just designed it to fit in a child\'s hand and for some reason felt like using only 6 buttons n making an analog stick that feels like ****. n I guess they made u pay more money for vibration cuz they wanted to make money selling them
then mc thought hey we gotta learn from sega\'s mistakes so lets make a controller that only fits in real big ppl\'s hand\'s.

I finally played Halo today, and I have mixed impressions of the Xbox controller.
- The whole thing fits in my hands perfectly -- a lot more comfortable than the Dreamcast controller.
- And the triggers feel better than the Dreamcast controller\'s triggers too (for those people who say they are way too hard to push down, they don\'t know what they are talking about. The triggers were very easy to push into the controller).
- The analog sticks felt ok. It felt wierd having to use the d-pad to move around instead of the left analog stick though because the left analog was too high to be useful (I guess I\'m just too used to the PS2 controller). The right analog felt great though.
- The major problem though is the face buttons and what action was assigned to those buttons. In order to jump, I had to take my hand off of the right analog stick and press the "A" button (or whatever they\'re calling it. ;) The button that\'s in the X button position on the PS2 controller.) If the controller had four shoulders instead of just two (like on the PS2 controller), then you could use a shoulder button to jump instead. This makes it so you can\'t jump and look at the same time. :( But if I wasn\'t playing Halo, 4 of the face buttons would be considered good IMO (they are positioned just like the Dual Shocks face buttons are). But those two small buttons are out in the middle of nowhere. They are to the Xbox controller what the c buttons were to the N64 controller (maybe even worse!). It\'s almost like Microsoft copied the PS2 controller\'s face button layout, then wanted to out do it by adding two more face buttons. Bad move.
I want to say which controller is better between the DC and Xbox, but honestly, I can\'t. The Xbox controller fits a lot more comfortably, but some of the buttons are more screwy. But the DC controller feels more awkward to hold, but the button layout is better. So, I\'ll just say that the Dual Shock 2 controller is still the winner. I want to get my hands on a NGC controller though to see if it is even better than the DS2. :)

The American X-Box pad is really bad and the Dreamcast pad is only slightly better, however, the Japanese X-Box pad is immensly comfortable and completely functional with all 6 face buttons and both shoulder buttons. It almost feels like a genesis pad, only thicker, but it is a very good pad. I\'m glad I\'m waiting a year for my Box so that way the Japanese controller will be out when I pick it up.

I would say your opinions would be different if it had the brand name sony on it. And why are all your opinions of xbox third hand?
Anyways back to the topic. The controller is fine. It is not the best ever done. I don\'t know if there is a best ever done besides the japenese saturn controller. But the xbox controller improves on everything sega did with the dc pad I like it.
-
I don\'t like it as much as the DC pad, I don\'t know if anybody else noticed this but the pad seems a bit slick and my hands slowly slide off of it when I\'m playing, it became work to keep my hand postitioned right, but saying its better than the DC isn\'t saying much though

Um, yeah. If it had Sony\'s name on it, it would actually be good. Sony wouldn\'t release a controller like this. What\'s your point?
And why are all your opinions of xbox third hand?
That might have meant something if you posted it before I posted my first hand impressions of the Xbox controller QuDDus. Get off my back.

Sidebar: I am the Street Fighter master. I will destroy anybody in a straight up SFII super-brawl! I wish Callus netplay worked so I could show you, you young whipper-snappers! My Ryu is unbeatable!
Anywho, to be honest, I HATE both controllers. Both are laid out poorly and are uncomfortable as hell to use. The only reason I like the PSX(2) pad is because it mirrors the SNES pad so well. That was the ULTIMATE gamepad. It was the perfect size, had just the right amount of buttons, and had the perfect layout. After SNES and PS pads, my third runner-up would have to be the multi-triggered Colecovision joystick. I STILL play Coleco football every now and then with that puppy! :D
