Saw this at gaming age........btw this is from igninsider.....
Presentation
Fantastic intro movies, excellent camera angles. Ending movies are cool, but they don\'t make too much sense... worthy seen though (especially Helena\'s... WOOF). 9.3
Graphics
There are not enough words to praise the visual glory. Apart from some very minor glitches here and there, only Halo rivals the graphic quality of DOA3. 9.9
Sound
I don\'t dig Aerosmith too much, but the in-game fighting music is pretty good. Excellent sound effects whether it\'s stone breaking apart, or your spine breaking apart. 9.0
Gameplay
Less memorization, more tactical gameplay. Innovative use of 3D environments and a tag team mode feature that is extremely addictive. 9.5
Lasting Appeal
If the game suffers anywhere, it\'s here. The extra modes are okay and while you need to work hard, there\'s stuff to unlock. But with the intuitive controls, grab three buddies and tag team owns you. 8.9
OVERALL SCORE (not an average)
9.4
From the IGN review...
"For the last few years, the Dead Or Alive series has been the third-stringer in the 3D fighting game world as Tekken and Virtua Fighter battled it out. Even now, there\'s a pretty sizeable percentage of gamers that prejudge Dead Or Alive 3 as a cheap thrill featuring big-breasted ladies as the main draw, calling it a turbo charged Virtua Fighter 2, or a less flashy Tekken 3. To those gamers, it\'s time to eat those words and welcome, not only a competitor that looks to be the best 3D fighting game, but also the new standard of video gaming. It\'s time to realize that Dead Or Alive 3 is nothing like Virtua Fighter or Tekken but a unique 3D fighting game that will definitely change both the way we see the next generation of 3D fighting games, but sets the standard for quality on the Xbox. Welcome to the next level."
Sweet it got a 9.4!!!!! I must have this game.

I don\'t either..... But they are making it sound like it\'s the best game... ONE OF A KIND... But it\'s not... They are thinking they are big and bad because they got a game that plays exactly the same...

You guys know doa3 is out today? I will proably go pick it up today.......but back to the topic I don\'t know about doa3 being the best 3d fighter ever, but it will be one of the best.......
-
the gameplay in doa2 was quite horrible IMO (and people who ARE very experienced in fighting games will know ie; Ryu, Ironfist Alterdbeast etc) The game was so shallow and boring, no combos no skill just counter and counter all over again

Anyone who enjoys tekken,sf, or 3d fighting games save vf1 an vf2 can not complain about doa3 playing like doa2.

Whoops.... I just did...
-
Playing DOA2 was fun for a while.. But then it got tiring mainly because of the way it played. As Metal Ray said..
-
There are probably people who never played or owned DOA2 in the first place, so DOA3 playing similarily is not a problem.
Personally I will like it if the engine stays similar b/c I spent lots of time perfecting my technique in DOA2 so I can at least hit the ground running in DOA3.
I love DOA2 and if DOA3 is just DOA2 with more moves and fighters, that\'s all I need. Here\'s my $$$, where do I sign?

Actually, I can. I enjoy those games a million times more than DOA2:HC, and I am entitled to my own opinion. I don\'t mind if you like DOA2\'s gameplay though, so go ahead and enjoy DOA3.

Gamespy\'s review is a lot better--they take into account the fact that the game is a complete rehash, at least.

:laughing:Why is this so funny? OH YEAH, because it\'s true...:D

The DOA series is damn annoying and cheap, in my opinion. I don\'t care if it is a rehash or not. It takes almost zero skill to become a "master" at the series, unlike a series like per say Virtua Fighter which takes months and months of constant playing with ONE character to become even remotely good.
However, DOA does have bouncy boobies on the women..Oh wow...

I do not enjoy Tekken. I enjoy Virtua Fighter. I also enjoy STreet Fighter. How can I not complain about Dead or Alive again? It\'s like saying that if I don\'t like Star Trek, I can\'t appreciate Star Wars and that\'s just ignorant. How can I not have an opinion on something I am experienced in? You sure are a strange little man.

I think his point was that each series is just a rehash. However, if he has obviously not dedicated enough time to realize that massive differences in per say the VF series. Each game had something massively different. Unlike the DOA series which is so damn shallow already and now they rehash it with flashier graphics, well, it just doesn\'t work...

DoA3? *yawns loudly*
Heh. ;)

I can name a change in every street fighter sequel (meaning from part 1-->2-->3) that changed the gameplay significantly. Why bother though? With Quddus, it just falls on def ears.

Ryu there is a change in every fighting game. Whether it is a character, stages or graphics.
But they all play the same. If I only played sf2 in my entire life i can pick up any street fighter and be familure with the character moves. Bison,ryu,ken...ect...ect...you would feel right at home.

I never said I liked doa\'s gameplay. I think doa,and tekken are all in the same group of shallow fighters. They are fun but get dull. I enjoy capcom fighters more now of days. Only tekken I think I really enjoyed was tekken 2.
I never liked doa2 or doa2 hc. I thought they both where a waist of my money. I am not a big fan but I do enjoy the series playing with friends.

Ohhh..Really? I\'m glad you think that..
You obviously have never played any Street Fighter in depth, otherwise you would know that Capcom changes the characters quite abit for the most part, whether it be taming them down or changing their moves in general..Not to mention learning new things like supers / parries / etc.
-
Its very True what LIC said
Street fighter always changes, Even if it is the speed of the characters or damage the moves do, every character undergoes a series of modifications in every street fighter game. If you are the master of Ryu in Alpha 2 it doesn\'t mean you are the master of ryu in alpah 3.
This is what all the doa games have been lacking, the only thing that ever changed were the move from square non-Interactive fighting planes to 3d interactive backgrounds
-
QuDDus - Not to be mean or anything... But ever since you got that picture for your avatarr.... I picture you as a girl.....:D

I don\'t understand. Are you looking forward to DOA3 or not? Because that last sentence completely contradicted itself. You didn\'t like the gameplay in DOA2, and you thought it was a waste of your money, yet you still like the game when playing against friends? Hmmm...

Umm yes have. Sf was the first fighting game I feel in love with. But What I am saying is if some only played sf2 and all it\'s characters. Your saying that they would not feel familuar with sfex3? Tell me that Ryu fire ball is not still have circle punch. Or you still would not have to hold back 2 seconds then forward punch for to make M.bison fly.
All I am saying they would feel rite at home because all the moves they learned in sf2 are still in game.

Nope not looking forward to doa3. I don\'t even know if i\'ll buy the xbox or not. I am not saying it\'s not worth it or nothin.
-
Having old moves reborn anew does not mean the gameplay is identical. Sure, Ryu\'s fireball is still the same so is his dragon punch and his whirlwind kick, but just play Street Fighter 2 and Street Fighter 3 and tell me the games are exactly the same. Go ahead, try it. Everything about both games is so different that the few base moves you speak of need to be completely rethought of when you play. It\'s the additions to these basics that make every game in SF different. DOA2-->DOA3 lacks this completely focusing on better graphics rather than any improvements on the gameplay.

I always pictured Quddus as a little troll shoving his head up Bill Gates Ass, with Bill Gates around all his moeny giving a thumb up.............:eyemouth:

You guys have no room to talk.
JediMaster - Nintendo fanboy.
ooseven - PS2 fanboy.
The difference between him and you guys is, I have seen him say goo things about other consoles. While I have NEVER seen either of you say say anything good about another.
Flaming is gay guys, don\'t incite people. It really makes me wonder why jumpman always got so worked up

Sure there was an adjustment with SF3, but it didn\'t really take long at all--maybe 1/2 hour. The basics were the same. It is a larger departure than DOA3 makes from DOA2 to be sure, but it\'s not as vast as Ryu says.
-
Why can\'t people just expect doa3 is going to be a great fighter. I mean I thought doa2 was a great game and part 3 just makes improvement to the series so I see nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, you thought DOA2 was a good fighter. Many of us didn\'t though. That is why we can\'t expect DOA3 to be a great fighter -- because to us, it won\'t be.
-

Who said it was a vast departue? I already made the concession that the basics were the same, but it definitely was not the same thing as SF2 with prettier graphics. With a simple forward tap on the joystick to parry an incoming move, the 2D street fighter era was changed forever after an assortment of variations on the original Street Fighter II. That\'s why I don\'t like DOA3, because it doesn\'t even add a single thing that alters anything. It\'s just pretty. Ugh, this topic is getting boring, DOA3 is good to those who like DOA2, if you didn\'t like DOA2, you won\'t like DOA3, what more needs to be said?
-
I\'m just saying that DOA2 is not a button masher. A skilled player beats a lesser skilled player almost everytime.
The roster of moves isn\'t as deep as VF\'s, but they are as deep as Tekken\'s. The first DOA has pretty weak, but the series has come a long way, but all people remember is the bouncing boobs and shallow game play of the first. If the game\'s designers moved away from the centerfold fighter look, it would get more respect or if this game was called Tekken 5 most people here would love it. I said most.
Yes forward tap is an evolution, but it\'s not like countering wasn\'t in previous games--it just makes it easier and by making it easier. Now almost anyone can counter, while before it was an art form that I took the time to master. I think it cheapened the series.

I think you are confused as to what a button smasher is. A skilled player will beat a button smasher in every fighting game. That is common sense. A button smasher is someone who smashes his buttons and does tons of cool moves without knowing how to do them. So yes, DOA3 would be considered a button smasher. MvsC2 would be considered a button smasher. Eddy in Tekken is considered a button smasher character. Steve in T4 is considered a buttons smasher character even though buttons smashers who use Steve never win. etc.

The DOA fighting style is flawed. If you like it, then that\'s fine. But a lot of us here don\'t because of how shallow the game is.

The forward tap move isn\'t the only addition to SF3. Their were also tons of new characters (something that most fighting game sequals don\'t have, but if SF3 didn\'t have them, it would be considered a rehash IMO). The animation was a lot more fluid, and a lot of moves had different properties to them (different reaches, different comboing attributes, etc).
But like Ryu said, there is no reason to be debating this. If you like DOA2, than you\'ll like DOA3. If you didn\'t, than you won\'t. It\'s as simple as that.
-
Then explain to my why Tekken is wonderfully deep and DOA3 is shallow because I don\'t get it.
