Does anybody know why my Dvd-drive produces a louder sound when closing it without a cd in it than when having a Cd in it.
Is it normal that closing the drive makes some noise??
-
thats unusual. DOes it close and open smoothly with and without a disc in the tray ???
-
Your drive makes noise with nothing in it? That\'s very odd...
-
Has somebody been screwing the disk tray again?
jk.. That\'s screwy though... Trade it in or call sony.

Welcome to the boards! :)
It sounds to me like your more critical of these little things - a bit like me.
Chances are its fine. Probably produces more noise because the cd isn\'t weighing the tray down and therefore more vibrations are produced.
When you asked this question everyone who isn\'t that critical probably thought you ment it was making loads of noise compared to with a cd in the drive.
If however im wrong and you aren\'t critical and it is making loads more noise then I would follow ajoh432\'s advice.

I rubbed a little grease on the sides (and some underneath) of the Cd Tray, then opened and closed it a few times to get it worked in, works a treat, smooth as anything now

You rubbed greece in your PS2!?
That was brave. Not saying it was a bad idea though. I don\'t really go near my PS2, im scared of breaking it.:D
-
Hmmm.... Kick it a few times and then come back and tell me about it.
-
DON\'T RUB GREASE ON YOUR PS2!!!!!
All you have to do is place a slice of balogna in the disk tray. The oil from the meat will lube it fine.
P.S. - Don\'t forget to bite a hole out of the center!!! My friend forgot to do this and his PS2 was ALL screwed up...

Adding to what he said you should add mustard with the bologna for a great aroma everytime you open your disc tray.
