W1ngman,

CONGRATULATIONS!  That was a very good choice.  The S2000 is an awesome car.  What color did you get?  Was it new or used?  Why did you select the 2001 instead of 2002?  How much did you pay?  How many miles does it have?  Sorry, I know I have many questions, but I\'m considering buying one of these next year, and so I\'m gathering information.

In Southern California you have to look hard to find a Honda dealer that will sell new S2000s at MSRP.  Most ask $2,000 - $4000 over, and they charge 2002 list price for 2001s they still have on hand!  It\'s insane, but I\'m convinced that MSRP can be obtained if you look hard enough.

Don\'t forget to check out the S2000 International Forum!

http://www.s2ki.com/forums

It\'s one of the coolest forums around (almost as cool as PSX2Central :))

BTW, please don\'t call it a "stook"

2001 b/c local CarMax had it in stock.  Went out of town for the last 2 weeks on business...came back thru town for a night of dinner & dancin\' w/ wife...and saw the car returning to CarMax during test-drive.  Drove it home 2 hours later!

Color?  Yellow w/black ragtop.

Price?  $30,570

Miles?  3500.

Smile stretchin\' from my ears to my a$$hole?  Priceless...

Lovin\' the little things such as the "ignition start" button.  Great access to all its accessories such as stereo/cd/heater/etc.

It was gonna be this or a Z3...  I think I made the right choice.  Thanks for the website!

Yeah...w/ time...

I did not expect to make this purchase for at least another year...  So needless to say, things are a titch tight for the time-being.  On top of that I visited Guess yesterday for nearly a grand (leather jacket, slacks, sweater, etc.)...

Not normal purchase kinda day but definitely exciting!!!

It\'s funny this question should come up because there\'s a good thread on the s2ki forum on the subject of performance modding S2000s.  Although there are those experimenting with superchargers and turbos in the S2000s right now, the consensus seems to be that the best mod you can buy for the car is a good performance driving school class for the owner.  Those engine mods are mainly to improve straightline speed, which is not really what the S2000 was designed for.  A stock S2000 can and does beat other presumably faster cars on a complex course, with the right driver that is.  The S2000 was so carefully engineered that I would be very hesitant to screw it up with a major modification like a turbo addition.  Now, a less invasive change like the Mugen CAI, headers, and exhaust would probably cause no problems... :D

Here\'s the thread I was talking about  (started by the famous Mingster):  http://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34800

Caught very same post.  Been eating their forums up tonight.  Honestly, my idea of improving on this car would likely only extend to cosmetic effects.  I\'m personally and currently happy with this car\'s stock performance...

They are very nice.  I had considered one when I went looking for a car.

If I was to get a second car that would defiently be high on my list.  A couple kids I know got that car as well as the one they got already.  (mommas boys gonna be living at home forever)

But one of my friends is buying his thrid in the spring.  A new 2002..  If its not perfect he don\'t want it, he is quite strange.

But the car does rock...

Do the INTAKE mod, not  huge performance upgrade, but gives the intake and exhaust a really really really nice growl.

Nice car, just drive with-in your means.  Don\'t go crazy

Im gonna have to agree!!!! Nothing like a nice growl..Plus the engine will work less to produce the same power. I do warn tho, you may not be able to stop once you start :D

Great picture man.  :bounce:   Are you going to clear the corners?  I don\'t think it\'s as important to do it on a Spa Yellow.  Is this a second car?  What\'s your daily driver?

Clear the corners?...nah.  Like you indicated, I think the Spa accommodates the amber just fine (same with the side indicators as well).  The black and the silver Stooks deserve to have the corners cleared, however.

Wifey owns a black \'01 Dodge Ram Extended Cab 4x4 diesel 3500.  *That* would be the second car, technically, in our garage.

Then again, because *this* click link below is really my second and "fair-weather-only" ride, my new S2K is now my "daily driver"...

...well, it took all of an hour for some schmuck to f*ck with my pics...  Real nice, a$$hole.

I\'ll get my pic to a host that isn\'t so easily screwed with by bored peps...  Later...

Okay, here\'s the pic of my "fair-weather-only" ride:

AH Hahhhh  ... GOLD W1ngman!!!  Well it looks like you\'re happy with Hondas.  It\'s funny, compared to that, the S2000 certainly is an all weather vehicle.  :D

I am a wholesale systems support manager.  Supervise a staff of support coordinators & trainers for a wholesale integrated ERP system known as JDEdwards.  And I do alright $$$ I suppose.

But in all fairness, you\'ve misinterpreted the home behind the car...that is a home my parents closed on [today actually].  They are moving back down near Richmond (from Ohio) shortly...it\'ll be nice to have them back around -- hate once a year visits.

But my home is similar I guess.  My wife & I have 5 acres; small horse farm (couple horses -- her "toys"), and my toys (which tend to take motor oil and need a garage:D)

Thanks for all the compliments mates!  I\'m just lovin\' the \'ell outta this machine...

Thought I\'d say just how wonderful the past year has been with this car.  Awesome performance (and a few mods;)).  The good Lord knows I flippin\' love this car!

Anyway, had to offer up my thanks to Coredweller on this occasion.  I have done much with http://www.s2ki.com.  I organize meets and events in the Mid-Atlantic area.  And have come to appreciate a wonderful group of enthusiasts with this car.

So here\'s to my first year with The Bruised Banana.  May there be many, many more to come:LOL:

W1ngman, The Banana looks way cool with that CF hood!  I see you did the diffuser mod too; that looks great.

You will be pleased to know that I am on the verge of buying an S2000 also.  I\'ve been saving for a year, and I received the loan approval on Thursday.  I\'m going to begin shopping next week, starting with test drives in some runner-ups (WRX, RSX-S, and G35C).  I want to be positive I\'m making the right decision on a car I\'m going to own for the next 10+ years.  I usually keep em a long time.  :)   I already have plans for an amusing announcement post on s2ki.com.  :p   I am so thrilled, lately I can\'t really think about anything else.

Cheers brother,

Good luck, Cored.

I wanted a S200 so bad, but I just can\'t afford one. My \'02 Celica broke me for the next five years *sigh*, but I still love it. There\'s nothing like the feel of a new car, espically when every  mile on it has been put on by you.

I can\'t imagine what the insurance would be on that car. My Del Sol (which was two seater, convertiable) was $700 every three months...Celica is around $500 every three months.

Yup...I\'ve done all the wrench turning myself (and thanks for noticing the cleared corners too!  Funny, but with this initial "Jus braggin\' post...a year ago...you indicated in that thread that you wanted to save up for an S2K:cool:.  Now, gotta be a lil\' subjective and say you will love deciding on an S2000.  At the same time...each of the other "runner-up" cars you\'re considering are also excellent in their own right...but they are different than the S2K.  Definitely gonna be a tough decision for ya!

Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback...  Here\'s some other images of The Bruised Banana just for grins:

More great pics, thanks W1ngman.  I like the engine mods you\'ve done.   I can see a lot of little things here and there.  As the Taco Bell guy said to Airgate, "That shit is the sweetness!  That shit is tight!"  :D   I still laugh when I think back on that post.

Today I went up to Van Nuys in the Valley and test drove three different cars.  In sequence, I drove the Subaru WRX, Acura RSX-S, and 03 Honda S2000.  OMG!  What a great day.  They were all cool for different reasons, but the one that really surprised me was the RSX.  It was much nicer and sweeter than I expected.  Very easy to drive, and extremely comfortable.  It instantly went from 3rd place to 2nd place in my internal ratings.  :)  (Apologies to EmperorRob and other WRX fans out there.)

However, the S2000 remains in first place, and nothing I\'ve driven can beat it.  It\'s definitely a HUGE bargain in the roadster market.  Whatever I decide on is going to be a huge step up from my POS Saturn.  I can\'t wait.
