Not sure what is going on.. CNN.com and MSNBC.com had very vauge reports.
I am trying to find stuff on it now. When I do I will post it in here.
So far a 767 has crashed in Queens. I think witnessess saw fire and then a crash..
These are crazy times we are living...
Here is some more info:
NEW YORK -- An American Airlines Airbus A300 crashed Monday morning in the Queens section of New York, and four homes reportedly were on fire in the neighborhood in the Rockaway section of Queens.
The plane crashed shortly after 9 a.m. ET, and thick, black smoke could be scene in televised reports. It was reportedly headed to JFK, but the origin of the flight was undetermined.
The type of plane and number of people aboard were not immediately known.
Television images show thick black smoke rising from the scene. The smoke was seen turning white, which could indicate that the flames were being put out.
Fox News Channel reports it was an American Airlines flight 587. All three New York City airports were closed to air travel. They include LaGuardia, JFK and Newark airports.
New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was on the way to the scene.
FAA said American Airlines Flight 587, an Airbus A300, crashed. It was on its way to Santo Domingo Dominican Republic
It was a level one emergency, which means all emergency personnel are advised to go to the crash scene.
Reports have differed throughout the morning
The American Airlines phone number relatives information line is (800) 245-0999.

Yeah. 4 houses were hit. Yucky.
-
It was a A320 with over 200 on board.
Reports of raining fire before impact.
12 houses burning.
-
man i hope it\'s not terroroist related because if it is, its gonna make us look VERY VERY bad seeing as how we did such a big ass notch up on security at airports, they would be making fools of us.
-
This is incredible, I saw all in live. It seems to be an accident but nothing confirmed at the moment. More innocent people... GOD what happen with NY???
-
I saw two people cryin\' and they were talkin\' about how it could be the plane that one of their parents were on... this is not lookin\' good for us New Yorkers at all...My the light guide us.
-
If it\'s an accident, the odds are astounding.
Consider that the engine actually seperated from the plane.
First off, to have an engine fire is not that unheard of. That said, there are redundant (several) fire extinguish systems Per Engine that are activated either automatically or manually by the crew.
Now, *if* this engine did catch fire, the chances of all fire retardation systems failing, and the fire burning so out of control as to actually cause the engine to seperate from the plane is so coincedental and mathmatically astounding that I personally find it hard to believe.
It could have happened like that, but I find those odds extremely high. Personally I think it was sabotaged.

FBI has said there was an explosion onboard..
I dunno.. And engine falling off just like that?
-
Could have been fuel explosion. Or their could have been a bomb, the FBI is quick about these things and will probably know by the end of the week.
Also they already recovered the black box, so maybe that will shed some light.. This really sucks for NY though, and our economy, I watched the stock market right when it happend and it dropped like 200 points.. Doing a bit better, but this just rattled the nerves of everyone here in the US..
-
THANK GOD ITSNOT TERRORIST RELATED and i hope it didnt likk too many people, hopefully this wont make the stockemarket drop again.......
Yes, hello, i stopped in again, i will more frequently, i promise.

ANyone remember that fireman in that tribute concert a couple weeks back. You remember the concert they did in MSG with all the firemen in PD officers in the audience?
There was one fireman who up on the mic said "Osama Kiss my butt." then he said some other stuff that I can\'t remember. Real obnoxious stuff. Then he said "Osama, come and get me. I live in Queens."
Pretty funny coincidence.
They played the actual dialogue this afternoon on the radio, but I got out of the car before they played it, but that was what I could remember.

If he\'s that easy to provoke, then let\'s set a trap for that sand-sucking, towel-headed bastard.
-
Well this sucks I use to live in NYC. Well I find it strange that plane crash at about 9:00am around the same the WTC attacks happen. Another thing today is 11/12/01. 2 months and a day after 9/11/01. I never heard of a jet plane engine falling out then the plane crashing. Hmmmmmmmmmm........what do you guys think?

Yet another tragedy.. :( :( :(
-
Yep,
God\'s finally punushing us for robbing those poor injuns....
:(
-
I think that this is actually all very coincidental. From now until about one hundred years from now(if this world still exists) any plane that just happens to crash and burn is going to be blown way out of proportion. Of course what happened two months ago is still very fresh in peoples minds, so what are the first things people are going to think about when a plane crashes... ding ding.. its terrorists.
Im not saying its NOT terrorist related, I hope its not.. but for people to jump to conclusions... its all to typical for this hell hole we call earth. Thats why the Ps2 was invented. Keep our minds off all the bullsh*t.
-
yeah if it\'s an accident why whould they close down everything? before Sep. 11 when things like that happen they wouldn\'t even dare think about close down all the airports and such. :(
-
They\'re really pushing this "accident" crap. "Mechanical failure"..Pfft!!!!!!!!!
Oh?
Like the verticle stabilizer (tail) that accidentally had mechanical failure and fell off long before the plane crashed, and has no sign of damage?
Or.
The engine that accidentally mechanically failed and broke off from the wing?
Or.
The flames shooting from the fusalage/wing joint, that accidentally mechanically set on fire?
Or.
The wing seperating from the plane, as the whole plane started to fall to pieces in the sky?
THAT accidental mechanical failure?!?!?
Foolishness.
This kind of total breakdown happens in experimental fighter jets, not established commercial airliners....unless there\'s a bomb/sabotage. Period
For the results of this "investigation" to say anything less is a bold faced lie.
....Or I could be smoking some good stuff...
-
Who knows Cygnus, mebbe a flock of seagulls or somthing got sucked into the engine causing it to explode..... WHO KNOWS!
it is a possibility of a bomb, but was there anyone important on the plane that a terrorist would like to kill?
Not that i know of.
mebbe a rotor in the engine caught on somthing and bent, broke loose and went through the jet engine, damaging diferent parts of the plane.
my point is that we do not know what could have happened to that plane, but we will know soon enough

I agree,
even though it might have been an accident, the odds are astounding that this would happen now, right there, not impossible, just weird.
Even if it was a bomb, the Governments economic interests as well as psychological would be to deny it as such, and just smoke & mirror it into an "Accident". IMO.
-
Well, I do have 10 years experience(USAF and Commercial) working on Aircraft, from engines to fuel tanks and even on the "black box\'s" (C-141, C-5 planes).
Take that as you will.
A Catastrophic faliure of an engine would NOT cause that type of total structural failure.
For a series (2 to 4) of catastrophic failures to all happen at the same time (more or less) is somewhere on the scale of 1:1,000,000,000,000 odds.
Engines can take SEVERAL birds and still at WORST only "flame out". At which point the crew just kills that engine with the suppresion system. That still leaves a whole lot unaccounted for.
(Oh, and knowing what I do about feul systems, and internal wiring of the tanks, the TWA 800 "chaffed wire in the fuel tank" theory is just about as absurd...... but that\'s another story)
-
It\'s kind of interesting how the tail of the plane chose to come off way before the plane crashed, weird.
-
It was kinda weird that the plane crashed 3 months and 3 days after my b-day, 3 hours before I was named and seconds before I was deciding to take a pee when I woke up.....
I\'m on to something baby....
-
Nov. 12th was my wifes (34th) Birthday....
HAPPY B-DAY HONEY:sleepy:

I was in agreement with you guys until I learned something new today. See if it changes your mind...
Almost immediately after takeoff the pilot knew something was wrong. He took it out over the ocean and dumped the fuel, preparing to swing back for an early landing.
The black box revealed that the pilot felt something in the engine and that\'s why he was bringing it down.
THEN it blew up and crashed.
Doesn\'t sound so much like someone bombing the plane now, does it? Who knows...
