Title: SSX Tricky, Amazing
Post by: Flamebrain on November 13, 2001, 05:58:23 PM
It\'s very unfortunate that a mind-boggling game like SSX Tricky is having its spotlight being borrowed by the "worth your $" games that have been recently released.   If anyone is still curious about the impact of Snowboard SupperXross Tricky on a person, well, yes it\'s also definately worth the money.
In all honesty, it feels like a completely different game despite the familiarity of the first title.  The colors and special effects are in a different galaxy compared to other PS2 titles out there, I give EA BIG their props.   You actually get to see an indepth making of SSX Tricky (from the making of the courses to character voices).  It makes you appreciate the team\'s dedication to making the game as out of this world as possible, they know their snowboarding.  The implementation of the new Uber tricks (tricks that can be performed when you fill the Tricky meter) is many times better than the addition of Tony Hawk\'s "revert."  I\'m having so much fun with this game, you can rack up over half a million points now. . .the overall presentation is sick.
If you can\'t get this game now, well understood (hell MGS2 man). . get it for Christmas.  It\'s a good thing it\'s out for Gamecube also, it\'s going to be killer.

Did you buy the first title at launch? How does it compare in content to Tricky? Is it worth the money, or is it just a couple of touches here and there... ? I got the original, and don\'t know if i want to spend money on a re-hashed title...  I don’t like renting…

If you actually read the post, all your questions would\'ve been answered before you even had the thought to respond.  But you were joking right? I mean,  people don\'t actually respond to things not read. . right?  Hum?

 IMO.

Yeah this is the game I might get for Christmas, I loved SSX because you can just freestyle for hours with a friend and create some sweet replays.

Me and my friend always tried to do everything "synchronized" and we saved some nice looking replays that I just watch for fun.

dude snap out of it

2 new mountains to play on, The old ones are revamped with more shortcuts and different routes

Uber trick system is new, the DTS sound

If you think Triocky is just a renter cause you played the 1st you either don\'t care for snowboarding games or your High

I\'ve only had my PS2 for a month so I don\'t have any of the launch games and quite frankly I thought all PS2\'s launch titles sucked.

SSX is an exception.

The comparison of the two versions is virtually night and day, well almost. I played the original to death, and was quite skeptical as to what Tricky would offer over the original. Tricky delivers in spades. It\'s not getting the handsome 9+ scores for being a rehash. Buy it!

*stops smoking for a moment*

Hmm, it just feels like some cheap trick to have us buy this slightly remade SSX title again... of course this is just my Opinion.

I will rent it first, if i like, i will buy.. must prove to myself this is worth the $$$

*goes back to pipe*

Have you checked-out IGN\'s review of Shaun Palmer\'s Snowboarding? They gave less than half of what psw gave it...

I got so caught up in the Show-off mode where the frame rate is surprisingly smooth, which lends itself to a much more pleasing experience (IMO), that when I decided to race, I was taken back by the one of the choppiest games I have experinced in a while.

I can live with the stuttering frame rate in the race mode, but it really detracts from the presentation, and ultimately the pleasure of playing SSX.

It\'s a shame, because even though Tricky is still a great game, it\'s a bit of a let-down considering all the time they had to make improvements, with the frame rate that is. Don\'t get me wrong, it\'s still an enjoyable game, but I guess that I had higher hopes for some aspects of this version.

Ditto...I\'ve read many posts about this, but in all my many hours of playing SSX, I never once went "Wow, that slowed down a bit there"...what I did a lot of was "Wow...never noticed that sign I can grind on there," or "whoah, another shortcut I missed? No way..."  Seriously, I never noticed any slowdown...and I hear the original is far surpassed by Tricky in all aspects...all the old courses are supposedly redesigned as well.  As for all you idiots who say "I don\'t like snowboarding games":  Neither do I.  Just believe every other freakin\' person on every board around and buy SSX Tricky, since you obviously didn\'t buy the original...as for me, I\'ll have to wait, since MGS 2 is taking all my time right now...

there was a slight drop but never dipped low enough to become bothersome and Tricky is supposed to be much better in the framertate department

Exactly, it wasnt bothersome. Sure it was there, but I was having too much fun to even notice it.
I only noticed it when people started pointing it out, but I soon forgot about it again once I concentrated on playing

This game really is fun. The new uber tricks in the game are great and I love the fact that characters on the course can become mad at you depending on how you treat them on the slopes. I was not expecting much since I played the original to death but surprise, surprise! Great graphics. Great tricks. Great courses. Great game. For those of you who did not pick up the original last year well...your in for a treat.
