I know that the wording of this question is probably wrong, but can the GC use bump mapping with cel animation? If I were to design Paper Mario 2 for the GC, I would use an "embossed paper" style.
-
all bump mapping is, [generic definition] is a variation of lighting on a texture so i dont see why not
-
its not that simple mm, bump mapping requires a normal texture map, a height map (to show the bump) and a lightmap. This reduces rendering times greatly. But yes GC can do it very effectively since it has the potential to do 8 surface layers a once, look at Rogue leader and see for yourself
-
I\'m sure it could be done with Cel shading... but why would you want to?
-
If you look at last year\'s Legend of Zelda, it had bump mapping.
-
Yeah that was my thought as well Weltall, why\'d you want to?
Wouldn\'t the whole cartoony look of cellshading be obselete if you bump mapped it?
-
no it did not have bump mapping, just reallt good textures
and I dont see why you can combine cell shading and bump mapping, the BM would completely destroy the flat comic book look of the game

Actually it did. I read that last week at IGN\'s GameCube site. Remember, I\'m talking about last year\'s Legend of Zelda, not the cel shaded one.
