Then I tried my PS2 on it and it was good but not great.... The Tv really magnifies the quality of the Xbox.... Its a great buy if you got $1400 to spend... I reccomend this ****... ::drools::

Amazing how you can change, no?
-
This guy kills me: first he\'s a diehard PS2 fanboy now it\'s Xbox or die. How do you expect anyone to take you seriously?

ANyone who spends more than 500 bucks on a tv and it\'s not an HDTV is a total idiot.
High Def units are down below 2000 now. Put your Sony Wega next to ANY hdtv showing 1080i and it will make that piece of crap Wega look like it was made in 1954.
DOn\'t get me wrong, it\'s a nice tv, but it is totally idiotic to buy anything other than an HD if you are going over the grand mark.
-
OMG!
nigs pic, ralph, the glue, its works on so many levels!
nice work clyde
-
Naw, high end wegas are excellent tvs.
-
That\'s nice. Enjoy :)
-
Larger 36" Wegas do support 1080i... I\'m not quite sure what you\'re talking about Videoholic.
-
...only the 32, 36, and 40" XBR models support 1080i, and they require quite a few more dollars than the regular Wegas.
-
Ok, but it\'s still a WEGA regardless. He commented that wegas next to 1080i televisions look like trash when wegas support 1080i. Just pointing out the problem.
-
Thanks Ryu, I thought that they did too, but I wasn\'t sure and was too lazy to find out.
-
I ain\'t a die hard Xbox fan.... Im a die hard Ps2/Xbox fan... LOL... Get it right... Unless square leaves ps2 Im always gonna be a ps2 fan... FF is my main reason for holding on to my Black devil... that and well yeh..
-
and man take this damn paste licking homo off my name ! and yo my wega does support it so wtf r u smokin
-
damn, I love the simpsons.
-
lol you are not a diehard PS2 if all you want it for is FF - that makes you a diehard sqaure fan

Supports 1080i? If you bought a 32" XBR for $1400, you got a sweet deal, cause the MSRP for that model is $2199.99 US.;)
-
this dude reminds me what n-player2 was like, constantly changing his loyalty. And I have seen GT3 run on a 32" Wega and I must say that I haven\'t seen anything better since then
-
That pic is actually a cool pic to have.
What\'s so insulting about it?
:fro: :fro: :fro:

OK, if this is the model #KV-32HS20 then I stand corrected. The prices have come down even farther than I thought. But I do have issue with one thing.
Why would anyone by a 4:3 HDTV?? All HD material is 16:9. So you will not be viewing anything in the top and bottom. Say hello to burn in!!! Either that or you are going to zoom in on the image which is absolutely ubsurd since the stuff is framed for 16:9.
-
Here is the real HD unit. WIthout that stupid vertical compression crap to get 16:9
http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/consumer/ss5/home/hdtv/hdtv/kd-34xbr2.shtml
It\'s still a nice tv, don\'t get me wrong. Just not a wise investment if you ask me, but you didn\'t so enjoy.
-
I love my WEGA..
And you cant make me change my mind Video.. No, No.. No means NO.. :p

That\'s fine. I will enjoy watching 16:9 HD while you and your other Wega buddies will live in the 4:3 SD world.
If it weren\'t for the change over to HD happening so quickly I would agree with you all about the 4:3 Wega, but it\'s happening.
BTW, College football in HD looks awesome. Along with the full CBS line-up, the full ABC Line-up, movie of the week, Showtime, HBO, HDNet..
All of which you will not get to see for many years since you have invested in a TV that you will not want to part with for many years do to your investment.
But it is a nice TV.
-
Nigs dont complain about that pic! ITS FRIGGIN AWSOME!
Plus it describes what your doing while your at your comp.
And dont dis the Simpsons best cartoon show ever!
-
Videoholic you come off as an arrogant ass, and your point isn\'t even valid. You are comparing a 4k tv with a 2k set. Why don\'t we compare the snes to the PS2 while we are at it.

You don\'t read my posts at all do you?
I am comparing the investment in a 1400 dollar tv that in 3 years will be obsolete.
I am saying that the cost of tvs are coming down so fast that it is ridiculous to invest in an expensive tv that is not 16:9 HD.
Don\'t knit pick my posts.
But the 4:3 Wega is a nice tv.
-
All things go obsolete, you can\'t make purchases like that. I don\'t want to spend 4k on a TV. I don\'t care about the minor differences (and they are minor). Hell I have a mid 90s panasonic right now and I\'m doing just fine.
Your 4k tv will be half that in two year\'s time (or less) and then someone will have the newest model that will make your TV look old and crappy. You put a 4k wega in your livingroom and sit across the room on the couch and you tell me how much of a difference you see.

Minor differences?!
Just curious, but have you witnessed the difference between a 480i and 1080i(HD)signal displayed on an HDTV? The difference is astonishing.
-
you\'re right i did get a good deal and yes its a xbr
-
Yeah, a really sweet deal! What does your home theatre/game set-up consist of? Other than your XBR, PS2, XbX, etc..., Just curious?
-
High end Wegas do suport 1080i. Go to the Sony store, take a few steps back and tell me if you can see the difference.
-
Never disagreed about the XBR=1080i, actually I almost bought a 32" XBR, except for that money I prefered a 16:9 Tau set.
What source do most stores demo HDTV? Usually dvd with composite connections, or reg. satellite signal, and/or, god forbid, cable.
Only until recently are retailers demonstrating their HDTV products in it\'s respective format, and that is still minimal to say the least.
For the most part, the Sony Store is far from being the hub of HT knowledge; with the exception of a couple of "senior" staff, I was usually confronted with the "deer in the headlights" response pertaining to anything remotely technical from their "casual" staff.
If your point solely rests on the fact on the casual observation of an XBR(or other HD capable sets) displayed at the Sony Store, I\'m really quite unsure as to the impetus for challenging people to prove you wrong; you\'ve successfully accomplished that.
That\'s my opinion; I have no intention of pursuing a ping-pong posting match to stand my ground.
xoxoxo

No that is not the basis of my post. I was just trying to think of a place that would have TVs. I went TV shopping with my father and looked at dozens of sets. I stand by my point that the difference of 1080i on a wega is slight while sitting across the room.

Dude. I have to step in here for just a second. I can absolutely without a doubt guarantee you that you were watching a progressive scan dvd demo. If you weren\'t then you wouldn\'t be making a comment like this. Go to a high end store showing HDNet. Actually you can ask the guys at Circuit City to tune to it. If you are telling me that you can\'t see the difference between a 16:9 Hi Def screen and a Wega, then you really should see a doctor.
And the biggest problem I have with the Wega\'s is the aspect ratio. Do you people not realize that everything is going 16X9? Fox, CBS, and ABC show almost all of their shows in 16X9!! If you buy a high end tv 4x3 you are waisting money.
OK, point number 2. Someone was talking about things going obsolete. True. 4X3 SD Tvs are OBSOLETE!!!! If you are going to buy one now, buy an inexpensive one. HDs are dropping their prices FAST!!!
Point #3. Someone mentioned not wanting to invest in a 4,000 dollar tv right now. Well that is my freaking point. That same TV was over 7 Grand just last year!! One more year and it will be down to the 2000 range.
I think I like this Debate forum..

4:3?
No.. Mine is a 16:9 :)

To simplifty Videoholic\'s post for you Watchdog, he is saying 16:9 is where the future is at, so just wait 6 months or so and get a 16:9 hd tv instead of buying a 4:3 for a similar price just now

Rock on my Swedish Brother!!!!

High end wegas do 16:9.

I know this post is a little outdated. I have a 36" Wega KV-36FS12 and I have the option in the menu for 16 x 9 but when I turn it on it stretches or kinda flattens the image. I also have the PS2 setup to 16 X 9.
My menu says it can be done but in the manual by model number is one of teh exceptions to the 16 x 9 section.
What do you think.
