imitation pso?
-
Online Final Fantasy game.
-
no not hardly
its more like an imatation everquest if anything
at least thats the way it seems to me - the way parties are formed and the enviroments looks
-
Hardly PSO. I will say they did look to see what PSO did wrong.
-
Please:rolleyes:
PSO is an online RPG.
FFXI is an online RPG.
Similarities over!
-
It doesnt really matter but FFXI is looking really good!
-
why do people rush out to proclaim something to be crappy way before any real information is presented
so far FFXI looks better to me then FFX
and FFX looks pretty damn awesome
-
But remmember Double D, were bias. WE can\'t possible accept that a final fantasy game would be bad.
-
most gamers couldn\'t accept that either Casp.
regardles of what console prefrence they have...a good game is a good game.
-
well i sure am bias toward FF and so is Caspian ofcourse ! :D
we love em ! :bounce:
-
no ones sayin its gonna be crap
i was just askin if its a pso type game cos thats wat it looked like to me
-
Well because you called it an imitation PSO it had to be assumed that it wasn\'t a good thing
FFXI will be a MMORPG
PSO was not
-
Mine was sarcasm friends. Just because I am interested in the game, very much infact. Does not meen that I would not admit it was a piece of crap if it was. I was trying to agree in my own special way with Double D. I\'ve yet to play the game so I have no valid opinion about the game.
-
ya well i am bias then ! its gonna be awesome ! but i have to say this one ill wait for the reviews before bying it ! first time for everything :p
-
i think some of you are confusing POS - piece of **** - with PSO - Phantasy Star Onilne
because he said nothing wrong with the game just said it looks like PSO
but no like i said its different but i still wonder how the game will have a story in it since it will have to be never ending
-
Hmm... I doubt it will be imatation Everquest.
If u have played Everquest, u know what it is about....... its not an RPG as Final Fantasy..... but more like Diablo actually, hack and slash. And I dont think FFXI will be a MMORPG.
-
What are you talking about friend? I will not have ignorence when it comes to final fantasy. FFXI is going to be a MMORPG. And I apologize for the rude nice.
-
LMAO @ Sublimesjg
-
Give me the link where it says that FFXI will be a MMORPG plz.
-
My Pleasure.

You knew it was going to be massively multiplayer, but how massive will Square\'s FF-XI be? (http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2593847,00.html)
Reports in the Japanese press indicate that Square\'s massively multiplayer PlayStation 2 role-playing game Final Fantasy XI will support up to 3,000 players simultaneously on each of its PlayOnline servers. Additionally, the company is seeking telecommunications partners to develop Final Fantasy-related software for cell phones and other wireless devices. These mini-games could have linking functionality with Final Fantasy XI for the PS2. No further details are available at this time.

thats 3000 in the one server
not in the one game
that doesnt mean anything...
how many people can play in a single game as in players onscreen
-
The servers that Square had bought from HP for the PlayOnline service could each handle 300,000 users. So it shouldn\'t be that much of a stretch of the imagination that 3000 ppl could play in a game is it?
Edit Just adding a link to the info http://www.coremagazine.com/news/5016.php3
Hope this works
-
When do FFXI and FFXII or whatever come out? The last one I played was 9 I think ,the one with Vivi. Anyway, I wasn\'t aware that PS2 could be hooked up to the net.
-
Hmm... I hope it wont be like all the other MMORPGS that is out now though. Actually..... I dont think they will be able to make it much more roleplaying then EQ, DaoC, AO etc..... the reason is the Players....... Maybe I will be wrong, lets hope so :)
-
Please read IGN\'s information. They siad that 6 poeple can become a party and three parties can have an aliance. Basicly thats twelve poeple right thier. And watch the movie I have posted a link to at IGN. It shows at least 40 poeple. Thier are some behind the person and many that are shown in front. And to my understanding each server will be a different part of this world.
-
So really, it kinda is like PSO in that it\'s not just one continuous world everyone\'s playin in. You meet up in a town like, say, Midgar to form yer parties.. then enter the real game where you can actually kill things and collect items. Jus like PSO but on a bit grander scale.
Just to let you know, don\'t get TOOOO excited about FFOnline. It\'s only gonna be a matter of time before people start PKin, CKin, VKin, FSODin, BSODin, LQODin, BMPKin, DCin, Dupin, BANin, CLONEin, and an equivilent of the dreaded NOL!
If you don\'t know what any of these anagrams mean. Consider yourself lucky.
-
For one your wrong. In a sence you can meet out of the game and talk about playing. But thata a feature of PlayOnline. Not a feature of the game. When you sign on to play Final Fantasy XI you are in that world. Its hte opposite of what your saying. Thier is no meeting place in the game. You can not play FInal Fantasy XI offline. Any use of changeing your character online is by definition hacking PlayOnline. And thats a federal offence. As of now I can\'t think of anyhting thaty can clone with. Unless thier is a bug. Which almost takes care of everything elts you have siad. Square is TRYING so hard not to screw this one up. Which is why they bought and partnered with to many companies, as to not make huge mistakes.
-
this game will be great. And it\'s coming out on christmas too! I preordered it today! The people said that they have over 60 preorders! :)
-
SonaFan AFK: U have no clue what u are talking about.... do u realy thing that all MMORPGs can be hacked etc ?? If Squaresoft do a good job, it will be a very good game, with no posibilities to hack, cheat .....
-
Yes, Agnino, ALL mmorpg\'s CAN in fact be hacked. You are just plain ignorant if you believe this to be otherwise. It may take a year of effort on the part of the hacker to finally break the system.. but once the information hits the net.. it\'s all over. With a GS, Codebreaker, Xploder.. litterally anyone can copy-paste codes and do all the tricks the real hackers do with almost no effort involved. Every single time someone has called a system hacker proof, "permentantly" patched a code, or made a game pirate proof.. they have been proven wrong. I think you seriously underestimate the hackers that are out there who are BY FAR more knowlageable about these methods than either you or I.
Case in Point, once again look at PSO. When v.2 came out, the GameShark was the most common cheating device used on it. So Sega designed v.2 to block every memory access point in which the GS uses to store it\'s game altering code. Less than 4 months after the launch of v.2 however.. people ARE using GS online and off with PSOv.2. As soon as I have access to a CD burner.. so will I. Even those short months before the method of gettin the GS to work on v.2 were no time to relax, since Sega overlooked other cheat devices that work differently. Codes for those devices were out within days of v.2\'s release.
I also don\'t think you understand just HOW the hacking is taking place. Yes, FFOnline will only be playable online. Big deal. Every code you can use to modify a character in PSO offline you can use Online as well. You will still have a data disk containing the textures and data for Square\'s online world. You\'re simply modifying the data that\'s comming in and out of your PS2, and all server side character saving is going to do is make it harder for you to modify your character back to normal in case your data does get corrupted by another code user.
Mark my words, Playonline WILL NOT be hack free, and you will still end up contending with the same problems that Sega is now facing. The only thing Square can do is set up a team of employees to moniter the game and write patches on the server when the time comes, something Sega has been very lax with. Even then, there will always be hackers ready to break the latest patch, and come up with the newest destructive code.
"Any use of changeing your character online is by definition hacking PlayOnline. And thats a federal offence." ~Caspian~
That won\'t make any difference. People have used their cheat devices to crash servers on PSO before, and one of the newest methods of keeping from gettin banned on v.2 involves having a code that bans several other users as well when you get banned. Their hope is that the collateral damage caused to the legits will be too much for Sega to risk. They are using cheat devices to damage private property of Sega. Even if Square were to take legal action and make an example of a few code users.. the sheer volume of players using cheat devices online would make it a near impossible and EXTREEMLY costly task for Square to hunt them all down and prosocute them. I really do not see it happening.
-
Oh.. and By the Way.. Barubary, PSO\'s most famous code maker, is already making "battleplans" and preparing to write the first wave of codes for FFOnline. While I already have experience identifying the warning signs and dodging the harmful code users on PSO, your optimism will make you a prime target. Don\'t come crying to me and begging for help when your character gets destroyed/mugged.
-
so you cant play ff offline??
wats with that? this game will be so crap without offline since modems arnt default on a ps2 half the populous of ps2 owners wont go out and buy a modem
and the sony modems will probly come out in a year anyway...
i guess the games release is far off aswell so by the time sony gets with the program and gets some servers...yeh
-
It looks like its gonna be a great game
its taken the great aspects of past FF titles but combined it with the advantages of getting help from other people
the only thing im worried about is the possibility of Square charging for the use of the online playing which seems a bit cheap since its an online only game
Another thing is that im doubting the speed of the communication system using symbols, it would be a lot easier to have a usb accessory keyboard and simply type them in, but then that might be a bit steep in the pocket for the average gamer
Oh well everything is my opinion and everyones entitled to their opinion
-
Dosn\'t anyone know anyhting about this game.
Final Fantasy is not a "Pay to Play" game.
However, Final Fantasy requires PlayOnline to play.
You must pay 10 a month for PlayOnline.
The reason why i don\'t consider this "Pay to Play" is because PlayOnline is more then just email and an online server. All of squares future projects are suppose to interact with PlayOnline in some way. Probably in the sence of what Final Fantasy X was suppose to be. That you can go online and search for hints and tips while playing. The biggest reason I don\'t consider it "Pay to Play" is because. . .
Square, Namco and Enix at last revealed solid plans on their much talked-about partnership, news of which first surfaced months ago. The bulk of today\'s announcement centers on network gaming, but the three companies will be working together in many areas outside of this as well.
Square\'s PlayOnline game network, scheduled to begin pay service in April of next year, will serve as the network backbone for Online games developed by all three companies. Square has already revealed its plans to make Final Fantasy XI playable only through the service, and both Namco and Enix have been rather verbal about their belief in Online gaming. At the briefing, Enix president Kenji Honda stated that Enix would release one or two PlayOnline games in the 2002/2003 business year, and would consider an Online version of Dragon Quest, one of Japan\'s most popular series. Namco chose not to reveal any further plans, with vice president Kyushiro Takagi instead choosing to restate that Online game development has begun within the company.

This news is ofcourse all rather old.

sounds like a scam to me

SonyFan-AFK:
So tell me. Why has Sonys MMORPG Everquest never been hacked before then ?
I have played EQ for 3 years, and it has NEVER been hacked, the closest thing to cheating I have experienced in this game is exploits of bugs, but that is not hacking. So tell me why EQ has never been hacked before Sonyfan-afk.
I dont say that FFXI will be hackfree, but the posibilities is there, to make it hack free.
-
I heard you can have a ton of people in your party. I forgot the exact number but it was around 9 people per party I think. Talk about multiplayer. And I also heard that you can join up with other party\'s to fight bosses. Talk about fun, around 32 characters fighting one boss :)
-
For me , it sounds like Everquest. I hope it wont be.
And in Everquest u may need up to 70 peeps to kill some of the hardest bosses.
-
For goodness sakes. Will anyone read what I have put in this topic. 6 players per team. 3 teams per Army. Total possible Allies? 18

actually there has been hacks for everquest
there are things you can do to see all the enemies and players in a zone with a map and all but you need two computers to do it
there has also been other small deals - also there has been character hacks and stuff but Verant is very good at taking care of hackers and stuff
while it is hard to hack EQ its not impossible
i play everquest and i dont hack but i am just saying it can be done
-
Yes it can be done. You should search the net for Everquest hacking sites, and I think you\'ll be surprised by the amount of things that people have figured out how to do in that game with their Hex editors. Diablo is another example. While hackin is at a minimum on that game compaired to PSO, it does happen and it\'s not that hard to do.
But for the sake of what FFOnline aspires to be, I hope your right. Unfortunately, I know that you aren\'t. :(
BTW: The night before last, Sega patched the Enable code which allows all the other codes to work. Anyone attempting to log on with that code was Disconnected instantly. Within 3 hours, a new and different enable code was out and people were back online spreading the new code to anyone who wanted it.
