Konami of America announced today that more than 1.8 million copies of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty have now been sold into the retail channel since the game first shipped on November 13, 2001.
"We\'re thrilled with the business that Metal Gear Solid 2 has done in its first two weeks on store shelves," said **** Wnuk, Executive Vice President of Konami of America, Inc. "Reorders were coming in from the retail level by the end of the first day of sales. We knew that there was going to be a huge demand for the new Metal Gear, but even we have been surprised by the overwhelming reaction from gamers across North America."

Now that was fast!!!!!! Just think guys this game is only out in the U.S. as of now. That is just too sweet their. Btw, MGS2 is perhaps the best game ever and deserve the sells.

I saw you post this exact same thread at TeamXbox and I\'m going to say what one of the people other there pointed out.
Its only 1.8 million sold to retail chains. Not actually sold to customers.
Still, it probably has very good sales numbers anyway

expect over 2.5 million by the end of the holiday season

I hate to bring everyone down but that makes me kind of mad.
North America is probably the most loyal to the MGS series, and we get none of the extra little goodies?
kind of a downer...we spend all the money on the game to make it a super success and we don\'t get nothing little special in return..

we bought the most PS2s then anyone and we buy most of the game sales too but yet we get nothing - sucks dont it
oh well ill live with it since i can always look onto the europeans for laughter when i think of getting screwed lol j.k

at the moment its still final Fantasy 10 with its well over 2 million sold in an even shorter time.
but both have still to be released world wide so we will know who sold the most by the time of the PAL launch.

Did the first MGS sell better in Europe or the US? I seem to remember it selling more here, but I might be mistaken. Anyway, I have no problem waiting for the game as there are already loads of other good games out right now.

the first metal gear sold around 4 million in the US and europe together, it sold about 1.2 million In Japan
This is only the beginning, expect it to sell much more, We pal gamers and the asian gamers haven\'t even touched the game

Listen to you guys ***** about not getting all the extras, you can\'t have everything, either you get it early or you get the extras, some of you would be *****ing if they had MGS2 come out way later in the U.S.

if we got ALL the extras Japan does then I would sacrifice the few months it would take for the games to reach me.

I wonder why they stopped the series. If it makes them soo much money then why stop?

to keep it great! Look what happened to the once so great game Tomb Raider? While part 2 and 3 were okay, the rest totally blew and brought down the reputation of the whole series.
Resident Evil might be another example...

When did Konami cancel the series?
Hideo Kojima just said he wanted to pass the directing role over to someone else. He even said that he wants the MGS games to continue on.

The pal version should get the same extras, or more extras than japan.
They have more than 2 months of time to cram in extra\'s.
