Post by: ##RaCeR## on December 04, 2001, 02:02:57 PM
Mmmmm

Remember, this game is running 120fps.

EDIT - Looks like your going to need to go directly to the site, its cause you have to do the stupid free login or something.

Who says this game is running at 120FPS

that seems like a complete waste considering the game would look better running at 60FPS with better textrues and FSAA

I\'m sure they can maintaing the sense of speed at 60FPS

or maybe not but that is confusing to me

Who fixed the pics? Whoever it was, thanks.

120fps - I was reading that somewhere before, hang on...

Ok, the game was originally running at 120fps because it was going so fast that it \'chugged\' at high speeds or something. THey also did it at 120 because they were doubling the physics or something, cant remember.

But it is now rock solid 60fps with 16 craft on track.

I got to play the demo that sony australia sent out.

Did not like it at all.

The draw distance is very good, though its very jagged and low detailed textures.

Why have it run at 120 frames, when they can sacrifise it at a constant 60 frames with a higher level of detail.

Ill wait for the sequel.

Why on earth would it run at 120FPS when NTSC TV\'s can display more than 60FPS?

It\'s the physics engine the one that is running at 120 fps, but the game itself only runs at a steady 60 FPS.

Take into account that the game is really fast, there\'re tons of things happening at the same time, and the crafts themselves have 48 parameters that define their handling. I don\'t think that it\'s a waste of resources to do that, because I\'m pretty sure it helps a lot with the controls when you\'re racing.

cna you go into depth on what you didn\'t liek about it

from all the stuff I\'ve heard about ship building and all the weapons and 16 ships to race against its hard to think it won\'t be awesome

and waiting for a sequel will be along wait thats for sure

I do wish they clean up the graphics some more

My main complaint with the game would be the graphics. So much shimmering it makes my eyes cry. It felt like I was playing the exact same E3 2001 build from May.

Unless they have done some serious overhaul in the graphics in the final version , this is a dissapointment.

Control was a bit twitchy to me and the game was quite boring due to no other ships being on screen. The final version will definitly need to be checked out :)

I have the same demo that Crippler was talking about. It is ok, but the graphics need abit of work.

It is definately an old build, I would say at least 6 months, I think its the one they showed at E3.

Not meaning to disappoint anyone in here, but the latest demo does reflect the actual game that will be released pretty soon. And yes, there are no ships in the game, because it is "zone-mode" and not the normal tournament you will be playing most of the time to unlock stuff. For the guys in here who don\'t get what the game is about, how about reading the notice at the beginning. Maybe it all gets a little clearer.

And graphics. It\'s amazing. I don\'t see how you guys can speak about improvement, because people who have been a fan of the first 3 games will know that this game is just about as good as it gets. The sense of speed is unbelievable, texture quality is not bad at all - and hell, who gets the chance to spot that unpretty pixel on that texture while flying at speeds more than 2\'000 km/h?

You want great graphics? Check the clouds (with clouds above that move and are damn close to look ****ing real), check the effect while going through the loop at high speeds, check the smoke that trails the ship while flying over the dirt part. Check those building left and right (and if you\'ve seen some videos, you will know how big the city is when you come down the freefall), check the reflections on the ships (huh, not sure if they\'re reflections but it looks nice).

I honestly don\'t get it. I haven\'t seen shimmering, so people that do get it, best get a good RGB cable or better TV set because this game is not nearly as bad as you make it to be. It does hurt my eyes too, but that\'s more because I concentrate too much on the screen while racing at amazing speeds.

Anyway, graphics is not what makes this game worth a purchase. It\'s the gameplay, the Wipeout style gameplay that always made the series as great as it is.

BTW: how many points did you guys score? just curious. :)

I think the graphics are a bit dull. There is not enough bright colours IMO. But thats just me! :)
