I can\'t beleive this the games been on sale here for about a month now and they turn around overnight and ban it WTF. Hope the other aussies on this board get this game now if u had been waiting to buy it at some later date.
Here`s some links to the info
Ausgamers http://www.ausgamers.com.au/
Office of Film & Literature Classification http://203.41.245.34/boss/public/viewProd.asp?db_id=176806
The RC for classification stands for Refused Classification

Looks like I better buy my copy from EB tommorrow ASAP.
-
That really sucks. :(
You can always get it from the UK. Our PAL should work with your PAL right ?

thats right. They\'ll have to bann it in the UK and all of europe to completely prevent anyone from playing this game. Plus so many copies were already sold and its pointless now.
-
That sucks. Im glad I live in the good ol\' US of A, where what happens in the game is like traditional in real life. ;)
Although, they do card for the game, you have to be 17. lol
some stores yanked it off their shelves also... blah, pussies.
-
I can\'t say that i\'m suprised. They have no right to ban this game. If they have a problem about the violence, rate the game Adult. Banning of games should be banned. I hate when the government does this
-
I find it unfair though that they ban a game Australia, and no where else.
I mean, why do Aussies have to be disadvantaged because we live in Australia, and some idiot at the Film and Video Classifaction Centre couldn\'t get it right.
It sucks.
They need to bring back the adult rating system in videogames in Australia, the highest here is MA15+
The problem with us importing from UK, is that some Aussie games are different from that found in UK, not to do with region or anything, but things like packaging etc.
ITs also expensive...
-
Hehe I\'ve sold some copys on ebay. Get your copys soon!! Don\'t miss out on this game. ;)
-
What the hell is wrong with Australia. When did they come under communist rule.
There is a big fat M on the side. Are they saying that those over 18 are not old enough to determine their entertainment and distingui**** from the real world
I would challenge the government over these issues or they will only further supress and decide what you are allowed to view and do
-
This has to be one of the dumbest thing as it\'s already on release for a couple of months now! Maybe they just collapsed under pressure from the anti-gaming group!
-
Yeah, its stupid because its been out for like 2-3 months.
And Australia is supposed to be the land of the free (according to those stupid republican ads).
Yeah, were free to go to legal brothels, buy porn at adult shops and choose any religion we like, yet we arent allowed to play a videogame which is no worse then any MA movie thats out at the moment.
-
The classification is a joke in Australia.
Remember Kingpin - That was given headlines on its excessive violence. Recruitment of Gangs and Murders, yet it is still on Australian Shelves.
If this is the case and games continue to get banned here, import from Europe.
-
I remember when I lived in Germany and the Germans banned Perfect Dark, it was nutz. Germans sell cigarrettes to 13 year olds (no joke, I bought them), yet, they don\'t let people play a mild FPS, with which I think is little violence.
-
Censorship BAD. Freedom GOOD.
-
Nate looks like the next edition to the Spam Clan.
Censorship is bullcrap though. It just makes people work harder for something their gonna get anyways.
-
Sorry guys, but let me correct this:
Here in Germany there is nothing "banned" ! It´s more like you are not allowed to advertise a product that shows things like hardcore sex or heavy violence or (off cause) has NAZI elements...
You can legaly buy such stuff, but you´ll not "see" it in a store (for under 18 that is) nore will you see any advertising for it !
This goes for Games like:
Quake )I(
Castle Wolfenstein
Resident Evil (1)
But there is a way round... Rockstar (GTA 3) for example CUT the blood out an the ppl disapear after being shoot ! BUT they left a back door wide open... if you (as German) switch your console to "english", then you can play the game with blood and gore ! :D
For all the english folks out there, try and switch your console to "german" and you´ll see what´s been cut out in Germany...
AND there is a cheat code with which you are allowed to play the game like it´s been suposed to be in the US (shoot off body parts)...
So again, there is no censorship in our country ! ...just to put that right...
-
EYE GUY:
The game was banned, it was never on store shelves ever. I\'m referring to Perfect Dark.
And I prolly don\' t know too much about Germany cuz\' I only lived there for 3 years, and didn\'t live around Dusseldorf I lived in Kaiserslautern, Rhein-Land Falz, on Ramstein Air Force Base.
-
well at least ya\'ll still have australian rules football

I remember when I was in Germany.. I was still like 13 or something.. So I went to this bookstore and they had porn mags.. So I just started looking at \'em and the clerk never said nothing. I guess she thought I was some horny Asian guy who would buy the whole store up.
-
Yes Seranno007 ! I confirm ! i\'m french, and in France is the same thing !!(for porn mag ! lol!!)
But for GTA3, we have two games : once with blood, and the other without blood !! and i\'m sorry for australia ! :-(
so we have the choice !
And i hope it will be the same thing to MSG2, because we haven\'t yet it in Europe.
Sorry for my english, i\'m not a master ! ^^
-
It sucks, I have no idea why the game was banned, considering there are games that are much worse available, I mean, look at Silent Hill 2, that is just freaky.
-
In the US, GTA3 has been pulled from the shelves of Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, K-Mart and I think - Software, Etc. But an Electronics Boutique employee was told that they will continue to sell it - but like cigarettes. No ID, no GTA3. Simple as that. Ya gotta be over 16 to buy this, I think.
-
See Australia is very similiar to the USA, I know, but in Australia, you dont have to show ID to purchase a M/MA game.
You ARE supposed too, but it really isnt inforced, and I think its because not much is really known about cencership laws with games amoung consumers.
KMart AUSTRALIA issued a statement today saying that it will not be selling the title from today once all stock has been shipped.
-
 @ SNAKE GUY...
Sorry again, but there is nothing like "banning" in our country... sure it was never on store shelves ever, but it was UNDER the table... just ask and proof you are above 18 and you get what you want !
I´ll buy you Perfect Dark if it´s still on sale !
Over... and Out... :D
-
I don\'t get how they have to ban the game in the first place cause all the contraversy makes it sell and why now?
Not that they should have done it all but if they were gonna ban it, then why did they not see it at the start when they looked at it to see whether it was unsuitable...
It\'s all down to these politians who think that just because it\'s too violent despite the fact it\'s a virtual world, it make influence us and thats just a big pile of B******t...
I\'ve got in in the UK and I don\'t think they\'ll ban it here...besides It\'s too late everybody already has it, ha ha ha!

Okay. Point is I never saw it on shelves. The end.

Man I dont think Austrailia is as bad as freaking Singapore, i mean come on...honestly...who canes people?!
-
Buddy, its a matter of principle, I mean, Australia is THE LAND OF THE FREE.
Thats the problem. Australians have always been known as \'the luckly ones\' simply because of freedom.
I think its sucks, I am gonna kick up a massive stink about it because it sucks.
-
While im not condoning banning games and im extremely pissed off about this as i was going to get the game:mad: Rockstar to a risk and it didnt pay off. The just slapped a Ma 15+ rating on it without going through the OFLC. They took the risk they would sell enough copies to recoup the costs of the fine and some, and it payed off. The other choice they had was to get it rated and risk it not being allowed in aus.

We should do that here. Any kid who vandalizes my car and his/her punishment will only be reading to school children as their community service (punishment). Cane them, I say. And by the way, Singapore is one of the SAFEST places in the world. Also one of the cleanest. No, you can\'t spit. No, you can\'t chew gum. A small price for a sane world. BTW, Singapore is also well known for its piracy of games, ironically.
-
Seranno007 -> :laughing: ;)
mclanenman --> as you can see, the equality between players don\'t exist !! :(
we could make a gift to australians : a launch of a big pack of gta3 on Canberra and Sydney by plane !!

You can shut off the blood if you want in MGS2 but I don\'t suggest it ;)
-
