Quick translation by me:
In the newest issue of Famitsu, the magazine reports about a big hardware announcement in Spring 2002. It\'s not known what company is behind this announcement, nor is there any indication of what hardware it\'s all about.
Hmmmmmmmm...............any idea on what this could be? Perhaps Dreamcast 2 maybe? Give me your thoughts on this.........

I wish Sega would jump back into the game, but I doubt it\'s them.
Maybe 3DO is ready for a comeback. ;)
Ace
-
I highy doubt this
If so, they are doomed. They will come too late to compete with xbox, GC and ps2 simultanously.
-
Perhaps that rumored portable sony handheld system.
-
The Segway "IT" Scooter is about to be unleashed in Japan.
:nut:

this may be a shot in the dark, but atari has been slient for too long
if they are even still a company, perhaps hasbro bought them out, i dunno

That came to my mind too . There was an article in some magazine about a handheld with the PSone chip.
Or Microsoft heard the Japanese are handheld maniacs and announce their " Xboy " ;)

There not a real company anymore I think, but the name was bought by Infogrames. They start to sell software with the Atari name.

infrogames bought the Atari name and has already applied it to a few PS2 games. Splashdown being one of them
There are really only a few options here
The bundled PS2 withharddrive included
the PS3
or
the Sony handheld unit
who knows

God I hope it\'s a Sony handhelled..
GBA really needs some competition..
-
I doubt it\'s another contender in the console race. They\'d be DOA to try an release another console next year. With so many people absorbing the price shock of setting up their new Nintnedo, Sony, or Microsoft system (or any combination of the 3).. I doubt the market would be a very welcoming place for a newcomer.
Sega has made an announcement that they are going to be producing Dreamcasts units again. Although at a very limited number.. around 100,000 or so, and AFAIK only in Japan. If Sega ~HAS~ found a way to make a profit by selling the Dreamcast at $50 dollars, then they may very well continue to produce and support the console as a side effort with 3rd party development being first priority. Though as unlikely as this is.. it would be nice for Sega to support the Dreamcast long after it\'s "death" unlike a few of their other consoles as a way of saying "I\'m sorry, were gonna do things right this time" to their many fans.

OH MY GOD! it is the Atari Jaguar 2!
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:

THE VIRTUAL BOY IS RETURNING!??!?!
-
PS3?
-
No, not the ps3 Its too early for that
Yes, I think it will be a handhel, since they are the only ones who have still some change competing with GBA, Maybe a new wonderswan, a sega handheld!(I hope so :) ) or a sony handheld
-
Everyone is saying that it could be sony hand held, just imagine if it was Microsoft bring a handheld out, i think that would be a shock, i think nintendo has had enough time on it\'s own in the handheld market.
I think if it is another console then that company is in for a shock, because i think the market can just about take 3 consoles let alone 4, it just won\'t work, and if it is then they are going up agianst some big guns, i think the only way that the xbox will lasts is because MS has alot of cash to play with, they can really push the xbox in the marketing department, i mean we all saw what happaned to Sega, and i do think the Xbox will still be here in 5 years time, i think it might do another ps1 as soon as the price drops people will go mad for it, and hope that it is still here because so far what i have played it is a very good console and i am having alot of fun, and it is good for sony to have some compotition, because they have to make sure everything is just that bit better, which is good news for us gamers.:)

The only way this could be a big announcement if it is dreamcast 2 or ps3. So if they say big hardware announcement it has to be those two what else could be big?
-
Well after the IT unveiling the only thing that could measure up to that is .... "Cheese on a stick" yup, you heard it here first, cheese-stick.... the new console accessory, wave it at any game you think is cheesy.
-
I believe can be unveiled a new sony system, a handheld one... could be nice.
-
If it\'s the PS3 they won\'t show it or anything. They\'ll just announce it officially, say who\'s working on it and give some early specs.
My bet goes to PS3.
-
There\'s no way it\'s gonna PS3. If it is, SONY will just kill themselves and as we all know SONY ain\'t stoopid.
Most likely will be a handheld...or maybe that Linux based console(indrema or something) finally got off the ground or Jeff Minter\'s Project X??
But it sure isn\'t gonna be PS3.

The Indreama project was canceled quite awhile ago.. So, you can gurantee it won\'t be coming back.

A bread slicer. Da best gad-dern invention since.....oh.....too late.
-
If it is another handheld they will have a hell of a time trying to grab market share. There are almost 15 million more GBA\'s out there than PS2\'s and we all know that is a hell of a lot(about 20 million).
-
Guys, they said a big announcement was coming in 2002, not the actual hardware itself would come out in 2002. Maybe somebody else is thinking about jumping into the next next-generation race, maybe around 2005. Apple, perhaps?
-
It\'s the Lunix L BoL cos they don\'t want microsoft to have their own way with everything ;)
