Not that I am dissing you or anthing, but do we have to have all these kinda posts all the time?

Like, "Favourite Game" "Worst Game" "Favourite game for PS2" "Best game Ever" "Most Dissapointing" "Decent games for PS2".

There seems to be so many of these lately, and its getting annoying, primarily because they are a waste of time - a game that you find dissapointing may not be dissapointing at all to someone else, and you prolly just gonna get into some debate about it, so why bother.

I thought WRC was pretty dissapointing, and MSR for DC.

NBA Live 2002. That game just plain sucked. 2000 on my psx was better.
Syphon Filter. Everyone was saying it was cool, better than MGS, but when I finally played it I couldnt of been more bored. It was one of the worst action games I had ever played

I thought Smuggler\'s Run sucked.. I got it when I bought my PS2 and traded it in a few days later.

I know I might get shot for this, but I was a little disappointed in Gran Turismo 3, it just lacked that edge to keep me playing it.

mjps21983, I must tell you that I agree with you.  GT3 is collecting dust, while a game like Rumble Racing is providing me with more fun...isn\'t that what games are all about?

My personal disappointment is The Bouncer.  Lets hope the crew behind Final Fantasy 10 can improve the sequel...if anyone actually still cares!!

For PS2 probably The Bouncer. I\'ve wanted a cool scrolling beat em up since the days of Streets of Rage its just a shame that The Bouncer didn\'t deliever.

I was going to say The Bouncer also.

ZOE was another over hyped game.

I find ZOE very boring. I\'m gonna trade it in soon !
Controls are fine, but somehow there\'s no cohesion
in the gameplay and it grows old real fast. Also, the
deign of the mechs : cokpits between the legs... c\'mon hey !
that sucks. The way the story is told is also very childish.
Biggest mistake of Kojima and Shinkawa.

Title: worst game
Post by: FifaSeriesFan on December 19, 2001, 07:52:15 AM
I\'d have to say for me there\'s The Bouncer...it took me 2:14 to complete it in the same night...
Syphon Filter 2 sucked for me as it was just like the first one and a complete rip off of MGS
I hated Crash Bandicoot:Wrath Of Cortex on the PS2
(Jak and Daxter pissed all over it!)
The Control System On Halflife pissed me off to buggery!
World Championship snooker 2002 (which my brother bought)
And even though it\'s good, I was dissapointed with WWF Smackdown!Just Bring It
I could go on all day about other games but I won\'t...

I knew The Bouncer wouldn\'t be that good.

The game that disappointed me the most (if not consoles specific) would have to be Battle Arena Toshinden 2 a few years back! I was hyped up for that. That was a complete letdown.

dude chill out - there is no one even *****ing but you so far - i swear you try to make a big deal out of stuff to much - so he is posting a lot of threads that ask questions that not everyone will agree on the samething - im all for it - debates are fun and the world would suck if everyone agreed on everything

but on topic it seems that everyone agrees that Bouncer sucked lol :)

i would have to say Legend of Mana for psx was a very big bummer for me

The most disappointing game for me would be the Bouncer. They could\'ve done so much with this game. Instead, we got a tech demo short piece of crap. Though I have to admit, after reading the initial reviews, I was expecting it in the first place.

Now, the game that truely dissappointed me when I first played it (not tainted by early reviews), Civilization 3. Not a bad game, just that, it was the same ole same ole as Civilization 2. That and the AI is stupid and brutal. The AI builds cities litterally everywhere (even in areas that for the most, is dominated by me). And maintaining peace...fat chance. They will declare war on me on very first opertunity it sees. No matter what civilization it is.
Title: **** the bouncer!

Never Mind The Bouncer,
why on earth did universal release Crash Bandicoot  on the PS2?
It\'s a piece of trash and after borrowing an old copy of Crash1 I though smoother graphics, same level of difficulty (easy) and the gameplay is just the same!
Like The Simpsons Road Rage you could make a cup of tea by the time it\'s loaded!
it\'s awful and as I borrowed it, not bought it (I used my brain and bought The Brilliant Jak And Daxter instead) I hated it and advise nobody and I mean NOBODY to waste £45 on it! (unless u are like 10 years old and love pretty colors and bleeping noises)

Who wants to be a millionare 2nd version?
is it just me or are they trying to fool us into giving into our grandmothers at xmas and buy this ****?!?
Wow! u get a virtual Chris Tarrant, who doesn\'t even look like him! you get 1,000 questions which repeat them sleves after what, the 5th go or sumfing...
Eidos...You ARE the weakest link...goodbye!

If I get angry about any other games...I\'ll see a psychiatrist to help calm myself down...

**** games Piss me off...

*is alone on this one...*

Metal Gear Solid. I was hyped about this game back in the day, with previews and what not and then it came out, I bought it and I hated it. I wasn\'t dissapointed with MGS2 though - because I didn\'t expect anything from it (still hated it though).

I have to say Jak and Daxter

I expected somethign more compelling and much more innovative then what J+D is. I have trouble wanting to turn my PS2 on to play some more of the game

J+D is nothing but a platformer that has been done before many times over but this time with prettier graphics

part of my reasoning is that I had much higher expectations of Naughty Dog in the game department. I really believed they\'d make somethign innovative and new

I honestly like Crash 2 and Crash 3 better then J+D,

I don\'t hate the game mind you, but I\'m not looking forward to any sequel either

Silent Hill 2. My review says why.

I decided to dig up that review and gave it a look. I think you were a tad bit too harsh man. :) Anyhow, I can\'t say what my all-time most disappointing game is, but I can name a few recent ones.

Metal Gear Solid 2 - yup, it\'s true.
Luigi\'s Mansion
Waverace: Bluestorm
Sonic Adventure 2
Phantasy Star Online

Now, it all depends on what criteria these decisions are based on. Disappointment, as in the game wound up sucking? Or disappointing in the fact that the game wasn\'t what you expected?

I like both MGS2 + LM, they just weren\'t what I expected, and somewhat of a letdown. They are far from being bad games though.

Waverace is nothing like it should have been, a weak showcase for the GC. SA2 left me in utter disappointment with the lack of Sonic, and repetitive gameplay. And PSO, well. I won\'t get into that one.

(btw - I\'m sure I can think of tons more, I\'m just drawing a blank @ this moment.)

FF VI

There are plenty people who have played thru most of the series and consider it the best so I was totally primed after having thoroughly enjoyed VII. Big let down.  Finished VI but just barely. The load times on the PS version murdered the pace and pushing myself to get it over with destroyed my willingness to look at how to play the game the way it was meant to be played, using the wide variety of characters, spells, items etc. to add the spice that makes the series in general such a treat. For me the story in any RPG is just not a huge motivation for playing and this one was no exception.

Not that it was a bad game. Take away the long loads and essentially what it comes down to my own poor attitude wrecking what potentially could have been a great experience. Must point out I think it happens frequently, though it seldom gets recognized. We wrap ourselves so severely in our own disappointment that we overlook the good.
Title: Biggest Game Disappointment
Post by: datamage on December 21, 2001, 01:13:53 PM
Heretic,

That\'s what happens when you try to go back in time. No person that started w/VII, is going to go back to a 16bit game and appreciate its true beauty. Not to mention you played the PSX remake. The loading times alone kill the flow of the game.

Technology moves on and leaves the outdated behind. Those that missed the first FF\'s, aren\'t going to enjoy them like they would had back in the day. Think about it.

Don\'t gang up on me, but I have never played ANY FF game. If I get FFX, will I Have any idea what the hell is going on? There are certainly a lot of FF fans, and the screenshots look great. I\'d like to try it out. Is the back story imperative to know?
Title: CHIZZY,
Post by: Simchoy on December 21, 2001, 01:42:56 PM
Nope. Each Final Fantasy game has little if any link to the previous installment. For example, while FF9 was set in a medival setting, FF8 was in a futuristic setting. Different worlds, different stories. Now, the only thing each Final Fantasy does share are the basic battle system (which each FF game has a slight variation on it), plus each game has a chareceter with the name Sid and a Chocobo is somewhere in the game. Everything else, pretty much different.
Title: Biggest Game Disappointment
Post by: CHIZZY on December 21, 2001, 01:50:47 PM
So what type of game is it? I sorta deduce that it\'s a RPG. Is it like a story? are there different paths to take?
Title: Biggest Game Disappointment
Post by: Simchoy on December 21, 2001, 01:56:51 PM
Its an RPG. In RPG games, you have a charecter/s that you build up their skills (magic, etc.) in order for that charecter/s to beat even tougher monsters. The FF game is turn based during the battle. The story is relatively linear. Now, each game has a side quest or two (in FF8 at least, other then the main story, you can have your charecter try to get all the cards you can by playing a card game [and winning that card in question]) but for the most part, follows one story.

Seeing that I like action/adventure games the most, maybe I\'ll rent it and see if I can get into it. The turn-based thing sounds kinda zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

Thanx fer yer help, cheers!

datamage,

Yeah, I was afraid from the beginning the game being so dated might be a problem but thought I could get past it. After seeing the opening and a few random battles I new there was going to be trouble. The thing is though I didn\'t realize how much I had been selling the game short until I was 9/10ths the way into it, all the while sticking with the same basic attacks and a minimum cast of characters, my idea being to get the battles over with ASAP. Really the only thing stopping me from giving it another go and playing it right is those brutal load times. Square should have never released the PSX version the way it is, better off leaving it as a legend.

I have to agree with you.... I\'m only 50% through the game... But I actually got bored with it... And forgot about it really... Started playing MGS2 more....

I have so little time now-a-days to play games.... Plus with all this homework I got this christmas vacation I will have little time to do anything.....

I am surprised I havent seen it yet but for all the hype that came with it...

Devil May Cry

I loved the demo, the graphics rocked and the gameplay was fast and crazy but when I played through the game I just found it to be
(A) way too repetitive.  How many times did you have to be nightmare?? 4??
(B) the story sucked
(C) that action that was so unique and cool in the beginning got tired on the fingers and the eyes when you had to reset the levels over and over again (or maybe i just sucked, hehe)

anyone else?

For me its OBI WAN. After all that boasting about not being able to put this game on the PC it seems Lucas arts was full of it because this game does not do the X-Box any justice(Graphics wise)there are some great backgrounds but the models stink. Its a shame because the game is so much fun and the sounds are so good. Still this game could have been great but Lucas arts foray with better hardware comes up short. The biggest suprise is FFX I usually dont like these type of games but this one is excellent. FFX is very ingrossing and beautiful to look at the only thing I dont like is the Blitzball I just cant seem to win. As great as that game is GTA3 is my choice for PS2 game of the year. Wolfenstein for the PC. Halo for the X-Box. Sorry no GC yet but for N64 Bad fur Day.
