i read the books and i saw the movie ! altough because you can\'t have as much detail in the movie and you need to skip some parts that are not too important , the movie was still awesome and one of my favorites ever !!!!

This is to be expected

but there are a few parts in the movie that I have read about that should have not been altered in the way they we\'re IMO

****spoilers*****

Aragorn never struggles with the concept of the ring. He fears it and has no wish to be apart of it

Awren\'s parts are all made up and never happened inthe book

Boromir actually handles the ring, abd his desire to weild it to use against mordor is the reason he is never allowed to touch it

I\'m sure there will other stuff in the movie that doesn\'t quite fit the book as well

Overall though if you go into the movie wanting to be entertained then that shoudln\'t be a problem

going in as a LOTR Tolkien Zealot will probably keep you from enjoying it

Well Double D , Aragorn does not happen in the book its true . But they wanted to show how he was strong and how the ring really was trying to controle people ( manner of speaking )

about arwen : in the book she really does not have much a role exept that aragorn does love her , its is just too suddle , so they gave a little bigger rule but all in all it changes absolutly nothing to this awesome story .( but she is cute ) :D

Boromir: in the book once again is to suddle the feeling that boromir really wants it so they decided to takes a couple of seconds to show it :D

and all in all the movie all fits extremely well with the books ! ofcourse they had to cut somewhere but that was to be expected !

EVERYONE !!!!!!! AWESOME MOVIE !!!

READ THE BOOKS

I\'m not much of a reader either but LOTR\'s is a different kind of experience

They are Epic and are much better then any film could possibly portray. You won\'t be able to put them down

IGN gave LOTR\'s a 6 outta 5

I\'d say they enjoyed it too

I saw The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings tonight...for the second time. I will definately buy the DVD when it comes out this August, and I can\'t wait for next December. I think that pretty much sums up how I feel about this movie. :)

Well, it was a very long movie. People were walking out, small kids mostly.

But I did like it. I have not seen (nor read) much fantasy. It turned out to be pretty cool. Reminded me of games. And that\'s good.

There was pretty much boring conversation though... I enjoyed the parts where they went to exciting or beautiful locations and faced all kindsa weird things.

My favorite character was Legolas cause he had a pretty face and a courageous personality.

I didn\'t like the end at all. It just ended. I know it\'s only the first episode but...

Maybe I should read the book, finally. :)

SmalLady: Read the book %ยค#%&. I dont know... but I didnt see anything boring in that movie, maybe because I was just looking forward to see how the actors could handle the different situations that is in the book. Well, they impressed me a lot :) Long movie ? Heh... I finaly saw the Directors Cut version of Das Boot today :) 3hours 22min long. Best war movie ever made
Merry Christmas everyone.

I saw it last thursday and I absolutely loved it! I gave it it a 10/10! Right from the very awsome opening through to the murky catacombs of Moria.

Great story, great action, great characters, great EVEYTHING! It was just great!. Man, those Ringwraiths where damn cool! It had the odd moment where you just about **** yourself with fright. (I jumped and all my popcorn went everywhere)

The Moria scene was by far the best part of the film, especialy when Bulrog made his appearence! Gollum was another amazingly animated character!

Yes, i want to go back and see it all again! It more than deserves a 10!

Poor guy\'s going to have a restless afterlife. Check #1 and #9.  Looks like Agnino\'s not the only one who\'s favorite movie isn\'t B&W and foreign. ;)

If you liked LOTR, I highly suggest the collection of T.A. Barron Merlin. Fantastic series of books about Merlin! (The Lost Years of Merlin is the first in the series) .  :)

Small Lady,

You should be thankful it ended the way it did in the movie coz in the book, it ended as soon as they got on the elvish boats - The End! Oh yeah...they paddled up as far as the giant guardian statues and then the story ended.

One thing I noticed that was missing from the movie, Gandalf\'s elvish sword, Glamdring. Oh...it was there all right...but it was not shown to glow when enemies approached (not just when Orcs were near). Especially when they were surrounded just prior to Balrog\'s enormous growl.

And what happened to Gandalf\'s infamous electrifying explosions like in the book? :p

Small details. Just thought I\'d bring it up.

Oh...did anyone notice the petrified remains of the three Mountain Trolls where Frodo was laid down while Aragorn and Sam went looking for the weed? It was dark but you could clearly see a monstrous statue there. (I hope I\'m right)

Anyone wanna bet there\'s gonna be a prequel? :p

And yes, not since a literary novel been this successful since Gone with the Wind. This movie is a significant milestone in film history. It\'s long, yes, but for the millions of Tolkien readers out there - you could not have it any other way.

Thank goodness they didn\'t let Legolas sing!

Gmanjoe: They also didnt add the Tom Bombadil part..... but then again, they cant add everything in a movie. It would last for 10hours then

Let me first say that I have never read the Lord of the Rings books, so I didn\'t know what to really expect as I walked into the theater to see it the first time. Well, I\'ve seen it twice now and let me say that this is a wonderful film. I was somewhat hesitant about it at first due to my deep love of Star Wars; and havng to endure all of the SW bashing by LOTR fans recently made me kinda jaded. But as soon as I got past that, I discovered what a great film FOLR really is. Every thing about this movie was beautiful, from the acting to the visuals. At some parts I was even made to be somewhat teary eyed. It\'s such a wonderful experience, you know, I really can\'t describe it. It\'s like one long RPG only it\'s on the big screen. I love the quest and the feeling and everything. God damn what a truly wonderful film. Everybody needs to see this movie. I can\'t believe the kind of idiots who would walk out of the theater because they thought that it was too long or boring or some stupid excuse like that. What idiots. See this film! :bounce:

bah, every 12 year old child in the world can vote for the film of thier choice i guess. all it takes is an AOL account

we wont see LOTR winning any criterion awards

take away special effects, and what does LOTR have?
terrible fighting scenes and pompeous acting

im NOT saying it was a bad film, but im dissapointed in peter jackson

MM: Thats your opinion... but I dont thing many peeps share that opinion with you. And the list was actually not that bad. Das Boot and Matrix should be on Top 3 though.

The Matrix... hmmmz... mostly hype and eye candy IMO. It\'s alright, but nothing fantastic. At least Memento is #10 on that top 250 list.

I haven\'t read the book since I was 12 or so (16years ago!)
SO- I will be like"oh yeah I remember this!!!"
Plus, I just pulled out my old D&D books and found all my old Character sheets. My brother and I made a bunch of them from LOTR!    :nerd:

Baulder\'s gate got me in the mood again anyway.

Sorry. Kurosawa left his grave to go watch "Fellowship of The Ring". Voodoo\'ed back to life for "The Two Towers" and now currently he\'s being rehydrated for the December 17th release of "Return of the King". :D

Oh yeah - and I laughed when MM mentioned Criterion and awards..

*shudders*
Criterion is highly-over-rated.
