"SEGA has announced lots of good games for xbox, BUT all those Xbox SEGAs games will be on PS2 (and NGC maybe).
"We have never said any of our Xbox games are exclusive to it. They are only starting on Xbox not staying there."
-President of SEGA of America. OPM issue November 2001 (page 76)
"50% of our games in 2002/03 will be on Playstation2"
"We have a lot of secret games in works for PS2"
"Classic Genissis and Saturn games will find a new home on Playstation2."
"Wait until E32002, you\'ll be surprised at the software we have for Playstation."
"Virtua Fighter 4 is just the beginning."
-CEO of SEGA of Japan PSM January 2002 isse (page 112-114)"
I dont know if it can be trusted.. Only time will tell..
But it does sound really good.. Maybe I get to play some more SEGA games? :) (I dont have a DC... Yet.)

(if this is true...)
Rejoice! I think this is great news, and hope for the best. There were rumors of secret classic games being done for the DC, but well, we know what happened. :(
I hope there\'s truth to that article. Though I\'d still get the games on Xbox first, and vice-versa.

Well its good news. I just wanna see Shenmue 2 on the PS2.
Well JSR Future and a remake / update of Streets of Rage would be nice too but mainly Shenmue 2.

Maybe not Shenmue 2, but Shenmue 3? :D
Im gonna play Shenmue 1 and 2 if I ever buy a dreamcast.

PHAT. I think Sega wouldda done MUCH better with the DC had they played the nostalgia card and made squels to some of their classics.
Top 3 games I want:
Streets of Rage 4
Shinobi 4 (Think stealth based like MGS2 but with fast paced action scenes and minigames)
Phantasy Star 5 (A traditional RPG that follows the saga thru Algo, instead of branching off cryptically to Earth following the PS3/PSO storyline)

SonyFan Stop! stop! Do you wanna I can\'t sleep tonight??? You\'re crazy, don\'t say those games... wow, that would be extra nice!
-
LOL @ Adan
yeah shinobi brings back some good memories on the arcades for me . i still got it on my PC hehe. did they release crazy taxi 2 on DC? maybe crazy taxi 2 or 3 would come to PS2 i would like that.

He was probably joking, meaning that by the time it comes out on the PS2, the Dreamcast would be $30, and SA2 would be $20. :)
SA2 was a letdown anyway. (IMO)

PS2 needs Shenmue!!!!!

WE are getting headhunter, VF4, REZ and F355!:D all AAA titles considered to me
I would\'t mind having classic genesis games on ps2, actually I have never played a genesis.

It\'s just too bad VF4 and REZ probably won\'t sell a lot outside of Japan . The VF series is more popular in Japan, where as Tekken is more popular in the USA. REZ is such a different and original title, that I doubt most people will \'get it\'.
Its a damn shame you\'ve never played a genesis. I\'ve noticed quite a few on these boards have no clue about some of the classic games (* thinks of a certain Strident thread in "Console Debating" *). I don\'t recommend roms of emulators for a couple reasons, so if you can, go on to Ebay or somewhere and get a Genesis with some classic games such as Shinobi (Oh, please God let them remake the original Shinobi!).
P.S - Sonic Adventure 2 was a rather big dissapointment. I love Sonic just as much as the next Sega fan and that is why it was a dissapointment. I rarely got to play as Sonic, though when you do the game is outstanding, the rest though is just boring and tedious. More like an exercise in paitence to see when you get to play as Sonic again...A damn shame really.

ShenMue sucks. It\'s the most overated and overbudgeted game in history yet...not to mentioned it\'s a boring piece of crap.
If SEGA has focus those millions$$ in development towards a REAL RPG (like Panzer Dragoon Saga or a Final Fantasy clone), the DC might have not die so soon.
Screw SEGA.

Shenmue wasn\'t overated, in fact is was more underated by some. And Sega has some real RGPs, Skies of Arcadia is a really nice RGP and if you are into online PSO is the best they have to offer

Well I agree its boring but you can\'t help but love it. Dunno why. :)

Well maybe you should have read some review on Shenmue before wasting your time with it. Most that I\'ve read say in plain english that "This game is not for everyone", because while it mixes in RPG, Fighting, arcade, and QTE events.. at it\'s core it is an Adventure game, or IF (Interactive Fiction) as people call it now. For fans of the genre or for console owners who are wanting to experience a bit of a genre previously only really available to PC gamers... Shenmue succeeds wonderfully.
On it\'s own, it\'s a very polished game with some amazing effects considering the hardware and a deep, engrossing storyline. I can\'t see how anyone can say Shenmue is crap, because it\'s obvious that Yu Suzuki and AM2 put a LOT of effort into making it a AAA title. It\'s just not for everyones tastes. What you said Paul is the same thing as me, (who\'s dosen\'t like console sports) sayin that Madden 2k2 was a boring piece of crap, and EA shouldda spent their money buying the Tomb Raider franchise from Eidos.
Personally, I feel that if you think Sega should stop making original and genre pushin games and instead focus on Sequels and Clones.. then you should never be allowed to touch a Sega controller or a Sega game again. You obviously don\'t appreceate them.
-
Yeah Shenmue was a risky leap on Sega\'s behalf. The game isn\'t for everyone and is uniquely original. The whole thing could have been a falure but I guess that shows Sega\'s game creating abilities.

Of cousr I know it\'s an adventure game( no matter what Suzuki is trying to call it F.R.E.E. yadda yadda..it\'s basically a 3D adventure game).
But the point is, it fails as an adventure game with no-brainer puzzles and no humour(i love all my LucasArt adventure games) and as an RPG it stinks and those QTE are really nothing to shout about unless you\'re a Dragon\'s Lair addict and the fighting sequence plays worst than a \'Fighting Force\' game.
It has great graphics but great graphics don\'t make great games. If u wanna watch great graphics, just go and watch Final Fantasy: The Spirirt withins or Monster Inc. Those have better entertainment value even though they\'re non-interactive.
A lot of people just bought into the hype and wanna believe it\'s "original","unique","iinovative" and so forth....but deep down, you all know it\'s a mixed bag of stinky potatoes.
And yeah I know about skies of arcadia(I\'ve completed the game and i love it, this is what I call an innovative game!) but the thing was too late to save the DC\' s ass.
SEGA can make great RPG as proven by Panzer Dragoon Saga, it has fantastic graphics, original battlesystem unseen ANYWHERE else and addictive gameplay even if it\'s a tad short. So why waste million on a dud like ShenMue?
If it was anyone who actually killed the DC, it was SEGA themselves and not SONY or Microsoft.
And u guys wanna bet? I believe ShenMue 2 will do just as miserable on the X-Box. Only time will tell.

"But the point is, it fails as an adventure game with no-brainer puzzles and no humour(i love all my LucasArt adventure games)" - Paul
I think you have to take into account the market which Sega was preparing this game for. Console gamers have traditionally been more action oriented than puzzle oriented. Not to say that their not used to using their brains, but certain types of puzzles just lend themselves to adventures, and by having prior experience with adventure games you and I didn\'t see much challenge. But for console gamers unaccustomed to non-linear thinking, I think to make it too much of traditional adventure fashion would have doomed it to the fate of so many other console adventures... Utter failure. (Ask most gamers what their favorite part of Resident Evil is, and I\'ll bet they respond with blasting zombie brains across the room. The item hunting/puzzle solving is actually one of the more predominent critiques I\'ve heard about the series)
And on the humor note.. Not all adventures have to be humorous. In fact, I like the change of pace. Humor in Adventure games was a byproduct of the attitudes of two companies who basically solely supported and molded the Adventure genre... Sierra and Lucas Arts. Even so.. look at Indiana Jones:FoA and Gabriel Knight. Both are very, VERY good games with a minimum of humor.
For it\'s time, it\'s place, and it\'s audience, Shenmue WAS reveloutionary. Had it been a PC game, then I\'d have to agree with you, but it\'s not. It\'s a console game.. and it breaks new ground as such.
