I mean this is Microsoft first time in the videogame market and they made a huge impact and the xbox only been out alittle over a month. First off at there launch they had alot of high profile titles like halo, oddworld, project gothem, doa3, madden, and tony hawk 2x. Not to mention they sold over 1 million before chirstmas which is very impressive. Also another thing I have to have Microsoft they had all there genres covered which is a big task. Here the big part xbox is selling like hotcakes as well with all this comepetion out, xbox still came out with strong sells. I\'m very impressed with this systems as well the graphics are the best I\'ve seen on any consoles and this is still 1st generation titles. I just posted this to say I thought xbox had on of the best launches ever and it was well put together. Not to mention they have a consitent flow of good games coming out like max payne, silent hill 2, bloodwake, ufc, and more.:thepimp: :thepimp: :thepimp: :fro:

The Xbox gave me an excitement the day I\'ve first played PSone in 96\'. The Xbox made me lose lots of sleep. M$ can walk the talk. Talk about AAA titles in 2002. Are you getting bloodwake? I\'m getting today DOA3. In Halo I\'m on the 6th level. Talk about the most realistic swamp! The mist and atmosphere feel and looks so real!! This game must be the game of the year!! Have you got the Xbox screensaver to work? :D

Better than GC\'s.

Better than GC\'s.
*bites tongue*
By sales numbers, Xbox is definitely having a strong launch. By content, I\'d add my two cents to the "sucks" pile.
I\'ll give you Halo and maybe Project Gotham, but nothing else really appeals to me.
I own a GC and if, for some reason, I spent $300 on another console instead of, say, six more Gamecube titles, I would get a Playstation.
But then again, that\'s just me. ;]

First sentince and already you got something wrong. Not supriseing though, seein as how most people don\'t remember the short lived MSX. It was, to say the least, a dismal failure. (Though it did get it\'s own Metal Gear game if I\'m not mistaken, maybe it was jus a port of Snakes Revenge?)
Also, Xbox dosen\'t have all it\'s genre\'s covered. Where\'s the RPG\'s? Strategys? Adventures? How about puzzle games? I might jus not be shopping in the right places.. but I haven\'t seen any of those genres on the store shelves yet.
All in all though, the Xbox did have a great launch considering the odds. There\'s really no debating that point. Now we\'ll just have to see where it goes from here.
(EDIT) ~ After looking up some more information, I found out that the MSX was a joint project between Microsoft and a Japananeese company, Panasonic I think. Microsoft consulted on hardware and wrote all the kernals/software and a basic program for it.. making it much like a closed box computer. Who had the bigger hand in the project.. I\'m not sure.. but since it was called the MSX, I\'d say Microsoft.

Well you may have some points but its better than nintendo gamecube launch. Nightcaster and arzuik are to adv. games. Like I said xbox had a great launch imo.
-
Oh I agree. I mean, you really can\'t argue with numbers.. and so far the Xbox has sold quite a bit more than the NGC. The games themselves are debatable, but for my tastes the Xbox has more of the content that I want at this point in time.
Now I can\'t say for definate what Nightcaster and Aruzik are, since I haven\'t played them. Alot of times people call games like Soul Reaver and Tomb Raider adventures when they\'re really not. Adventures, are like Monkey Island 4, Resident Evil, Shenmue and Shadow of Destiny.. NOT like Soul Reaver.
I\'d have to play those game or read up on them at JA to see what their really like. Considering that Avent. titles are just now begining to see a resurgance in the market.. they\'re still a pretty risky investment and I doubt anyone would make one a launch title.
Also, what about the other Genre\'s I mentioned? Does Microsoft have those covered with games I jus haven\'t see or heard about yet?

Sure you can, the only reason Microsoft sold so many more than Nintendo is that it was able to produce more. If Nintendo could have met its demand, it would be right up there.
Of course, it\'s speculation on my part, but it makes sense, and I just wanted to argue with the numbers...
Also...
Well you may have some points but its better than nintendo gamecube launch.
That\'s your opinion. My opinion is you\'re wrong.
I would take a Gamecube with Smash Bros: Melee, Pikmin, Star Wars, Wave Race, Luigi\'s Mansion, and Super Monkey Ball over Xbox with Halo any day.
Oh wait, I did - and I picked up Madden 2K2 and Crazy Taxi while I was at it. ;]
(How was that, mm? Too fanboyish?)

well sorry i love halo but other then that im not too crazy bout anything else on Xbox
there are sports games but what system doesnt have those
i mean sure it may have a lot of genres covered but the games arent that great - i mean PS2 had almost all genres covered on launch and even some that xbox didnt but that doesnt mean it made its launch awesome
it had RPGs but crappy for example
-
yes it has a great launch but the soft ware mostly fluff every ones hooked on fluff and its potential lets break it down shall we huge controller to big to much platic hands cramp after awhile 35 dollar dvd remote hmmm not going there lol graphics off the chain but game play in mmost games suspect lol have you played nfl fever all the men fat everyone has the same face mask halo awesome game but no map munches odddesy good game no complaint doa 3 is doa 2 but just suped up no complaints tekken tag the same thing xbox will proably takeover the market next year but ps 2 has a strong library heck have you seen final fantsay 10 my god thats a pretty game good story line

How did the X-Box make a huge impact on the industry at launch? There was nothing that the X-Box had that we had not seen in the industry before. Sure, Halo is great, but not without its fair share of issues. DOA3 is DOA2 Pretty, I don\'t see how that changes the industry. Then there\'s the harddrive and has so far been under utilized by the game makers. There\'s still loading times for DOA3, Halo, and several others and these are games primed to take advantage of the harddrive. For a console that offers everything, it sure isn\'t offering much. Hell, just the DVD functionality alone isn\'t all that much better than the PS2\'s and that\'s a bit dissapointing.
I won\'t even go into the online features, it\'s been talked about to death.
However, the Gamecube didn\'t offer anything but good games and that\'s what you pay for. 500 bucks later (bundle), I\'m happy with all four of the Gamecube games I currently have in my posession and after 600 bucks (bundle), there is only one X-Box game I am really happy with. Now, you tell me, which one was really the better launch investment? You can spew the word "kiddy" around all you want to in every possible thread relating to Nintendo and how much you detest them, that\'s fine, it\'s your perogative, but until you tell me how being kiddy effects a game\'s fun factor, which is a question you have been avoiding since the day I asked it, then I will hold your opinion with a grain of salt.
Rage_42:
The X-Box controller is quite comfortable in my opinion, but the button layout is awfully strange. In some way, you end up neglecting two face buttons while using the controller and that just irritates me. The gameplay in Halo is not bad at all. I just think there could have been more in terms of multiplayer online features, but to knock a game for not having a map is fairly poor. There are plenty of checkpoints, save spots, and objectives all throughout the map that losing your way is nearly impossible. Only once did I actually get lost and I realized it when I hit a land barrier, but after a few seconds of actual thought, I passed it. It\'s simple enough, anyone with a shred of cognitive reasoning can get through the game.
I\'m just perplexed how you can knock Halo for not having a map and then say Munch is a good game. That\'s just odd.

Yeah.... Xbox really had nothing great.... Halo is all! Kinda sucks.... But the future.... The Future of Xbox looks great.... Developers will slowly develop great games for Xbox making it a hit....:) I\'m thinking the year 2003 Xbox will be a perfectly great system to own.. We shall yet have to see 2002 though..

Monkey Ball has more replay value than any XBox game.
Luigi\'s Mansion was simple fun.
Rouge Squadron simply kicked ass.
And for the real kicker...
madden, and tony hawk 2x.
Uhm, GC had Madden and .....*drum roll*...Tony Hawk 3 .
Mmm\'kay?
Did I even mention that since launch GC owners have got the beyond awesome Pikimin and the highly rated (I say that - because its not my cup of tea, but a lot of people love it ) Super Smash Bro\'s : Melee. WHat has Xbox owners got lately? Nada.

Hops in his time machine~~~~~Comes back from time machine.
Ok after going back and reviewing several console launches up until the xbox and gc. I could only say the only launch I ever really enjoyed was the sega genesis launch.
XBOX launch reminded me two much of the ps2 launch. 3 games where worth the purchase. Doa3,Fever,Halo. Ps2-TTT, SSX, Madden.
And as for Gamecube It was better than any past nintendo launch but with no mario and the boring luigi\'s mansion I really don\'t see any one title that stands out besides Star Wars.
-
I havent played halo yet i want too tho, i love fps
in halo i know there is multiplayer mode but in the story can you do co op?
-
I think the most striking differences between the console launches of late seem to be the fans themselves. Most of the Xbox fans that I\'ve heard of (at least those that choose to visit forums) are generally pleased with their selection of games, although you couldn\'t tell from visiting this sight alone afterall this is still a PS2 forum. Most of the criticisms concerning PS2\'s launch that I\'ve read or heard were coming mainly from PS2 fans themselves. GC fans like their games it seems, no matter what. I didn\'t follow the Dreamcast\'s launch closely enough to tell. Comparing which console had the best launch is rather moot, seeing how it is all based upon opinion anyway and there is nothing concrete to prove either way. Personally, yeah I think the Xbox had the best launch so far IMO;)
-
the Dreamcast had the best launch, no argument
although i wish they would have had more VMU\'s on stock.
-
Dreamcast had the best launch ever! IMO
It also remains my second favorite console, right behind the Xbox!
Within a week of my DC purchase, I had 2 VMU\'s, Hydro Thunder, Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, and NFL 2K. 30 games later, I\'m still playing it.
Now Xbox had an amazing launch. I had to buy a bundle for 600$ but I think it\'s totally worth it.
I got the DVD playback kit, Halo (best.game.ever.), Munch (this one\'s a classic already), and the most beatiful fighting game ever; Dead or Alive 3. Then I went and purchased Dark Summit, NFL Fever and NHL Hitz the day after launch.
Now I also have Project Gotham (I can\'t put it down, so much to do, so little time!) and Azurik (This one got returned!, bad, bad game).
Blood Wake (anyone play this yet?, Silent Hill 2, Jet Set Radio Future (Anyone see the level on the Demo disk of the most recent
Xbox magazine? AMAZING!), Gun Valkerie (it\'s Sega, it\'ll be good), Wreckless, Brute Force (Also on the Demo Disc, Looks like a killer app for Xbox), Project Ego, Black and White, Enclave, Sega GT 2002, Malice...
Simply an amazing lineup to me. Although I am thinking about getting a PS2 when the price goes down. FFX and Jak and Daxter look to good to pass up, maybe a rent will do?!

This statement removes a lot of your credibility. A console that has been out a little over a month and a half and has all of 15+ games only 3-4 of them being above-average and you claim its your favorite console ever? I know its all about opinions and such; but that just doesn\'t fly.
-
Yes, it\'s all about opinion. And my opnion is that I\'m as excited about Xbox as I was about my DC. and more so...
The fact that I downloaded my favorite Garbage song into the harddrive then played it while racing in Project Gotham puts Xbox over the top! Halo is the best game I\'ve ever played. Dead or Alive 3 is beautiful. Munch has tons of character and I love it! That and all the wonderful looking games coming in 2002...
Not that it matters what credibility you give me, but is that good enough reason for ya?
-
So three games and games that will be released next year make this your favorite console ever? Whatever.

Wait ryu you are saying gamecube had good launch games but xbox didn\'t!?!?!?! Halo, Oddworld, DOA3, project gothem, madden 2002 were all high cailbur titles for the xbox at launch. GC had RL2, wave race, and luigi mansion. I thought xbox lineup was alot better. I will be changing the industry soon enough. I think halo beat all the gamecube launch games combined but thats my opinion. Plus, silent hill 2x is out for xbox I will be getting that next after I beat oddworld. Well ryu your we\'re even I had more enjoyment with xbox than any of the gamecube games. You like your gamecube more so thats fair. I just don\'t think nintendo should focus so much on kiddy games. It limits there audiences while mircosoft and sony goes your older games as well as kids can play there games too. I just saying nintendo could learn something from sony not to focus so much on kiddy games.

Monkey ball was overhyped.
RL2 is just a rehash of part 1 with better graphics. The gameplay did not advance at all.
Xbox has got silent hill 2x, bloodwake, and coming soon ufc, raw, smash driving, sega gt2, jet set radio future, and gun vakilyle. I think xbox is way better system than gamecube its more powerful and I think xbox games and upcoming libary is way better. Btw, whats the next big gamecube game coming out soon?

Monkey ball to me is as much fun as HALO, my friend and I played that game for like 4 hours straight, then went straight to me watching him play Pikmin, and then I got my brothers and we played 4 player SSBM, and those are all awesome GC games, to me GC has more good games than xbox does, xbox has Halo and a bunch of good looking mediocre games
-
I really didn\'t like RL much. I\'ve said it before, but the invisible space walls, ship on a rail and the gameplay we\'ve all seen before really took me out of the game. It almost exactly like Free Space 2 with a Star Wars license.
SSBM is a really fun game (only multiplayer though), but I hate the graphics.
I haven\'t played any other GC games enough to give an opinion.

Monkey Ball was over-hyped? You\'ve obviously never played it. The game is simple and addictive.
You condem RL2 for being a "rehash" of part 1 , yet you are all excited about Silent Hill 2x, a simple port with an added side-quest that reviewers have openly trashed? You then brag about Madden being on the XBox - yet it was also on the GC. Do you just love contradicting yourself or something? UFC is also goin\' to the PS2 - so what is so fantastic about that?
As for upcoming titles for GC... Star Fox, Resident Evil , Too Human, Animal Forest and plenty more.
I\'ll save you the trouble for responding...
Future Rastalant post
But, DOA3 is so gorgeous man.

Some people can ***** about the most insignificant things!
Dead or Alive 3 is not only the best looking fighting game at the moment (and probably for some time), the gameplay is silky smooth. I can\'t remember a fighting game that allows one to pull off the manuevers as quickly and easily as DOA3. And yes, I can say the gameplay is improved over DOA2. It\'s no longer a throwing match...
oh, and Gohan...
"So three games and games that will be released next year make this your favorite console ever? Whatever."
It\'s four... I mentioned Project Gotham, Halo, Dead or Alive 3, and Munch. HHL Hitz and NFL Fever are good too! Let\'s see, Blood Wake and Silent Hill 2 are out... I\'ll be getting them both in about a week.
Oh, then Jet Grind Radio Future, Genma Onimusha and Gun Valkerie come out in Feb. Then Unreal Championship, Wreckless, House of the Dead 3, and Sega GT 2002 are due in March. Panzer Dragoon 4, Black and White, Brute Force, Malice, Crash, Crazy Taxi Next, Enclave...
Yah, I\'ll say it again. Xbox is my favorite system...
-
Wait ryu you are saying gamecube had good launch games but xbox didn\'t!?!?!?! Halo, Oddworld, DOA3, project gothem, madden 2002 were all high cailbur titles for the xbox at launch.
I already said Halo was totaly awesome, even though it was lacking key features I would have preffered it to have. Read my review of it, on this forum no less, to see what I really think about it. DOA3 was over-hyped garbage with it\'s DOA2 qualities. Oddworld is summed up with the review posted on gamespot.com and Project Gotham is decent, but I don\'t like the gameplay aspect of it simply because I didn\'t think too highly of MSR, but it is good for not being another GT3 wannabe. As for Madden, what console didn\'t have Madden besides the Dreamcast? That covers all the launch games for the X-Box, but since you just LOVE to critique Nintendo, despite barely even touching a Gamecube, I\'ll critique their launch as well.
Luigi\'s mansion was quite surprising especially since my first impressions of the game were less than stellar to put it mildly. Rogue Squadron 2 was amazing, especially since I\'m a huge Star Wars fan and I loathed the first Rogue Squadron for the N64. Other than those two titles, they had Madden, big deal there, they had Waverace which I didn\'t enjoy in the slightest. Monkeyball was alright, but I give it credit for being original in its concept, but design wise, it\'s a lot like Marble Madness. Other than that, there wasn\'t anything else that really inspired me. However, my opinions of launches are much lower than anyone elses because I know for a fact that the systems are new, the developers are still learning, and as time goes by, if I\'m not impressed by the second or third generation of games, then I\'m dissapointed with the system.
Plus, silent hill 2x is out for xbox I will be getting that next after I beat oddworld.
You list Silent Hill 2x as one of your anticipated titles? If you read my review of that game, even on the PS2, I weep for people who enjoy it, but then again, DOA2 to DOA3 was about the same difference as SH2 to SH2x, I\'m just glad Konami had enough brains not to call SH2x on the X-Box SH3.
You like your gamecube more so thats fair. I just don\'t think nintendo should focus so much on kiddy games. It limits there audiences while mircosoft and sony goes your older games as well as kids can play there games too. Rastalant, if you use the word "kiddy" and "mature" one more time, I\'m going to rip your damn head off and use it as a bowling ball. You REFUSE to even explain what those two terms represent. Even in this thread, WHERE I DIRECTLY asked you to explain WHAT kiddy and mature is, you IGNORE the question. Is it that you can\'t explain what it is? If that\'s the case, then say so and stop using the word as loosely as you do. I hate people throwing around vocabulary when they don\'t even know what it means. It\'s like a 3 year old saying "sh|t" because they heard their parents say it. Until you explain what it is in an acceptable definition, then I hold your opinion as the lowest of the low, as if I respected you anyways after spewing the words so many times in other threads and making threads that directly belittle Nintendo anyways.
Bah, you\'re just a graphics whore and I\'m sick of all the BS I\'ve seen posted by you recently.

Ryu.........I will define kiddy for you. For example games like super smash bros that suppose to be nintendo\'s top fighter but all the characters are kiddy nintendo characters like pikakcu, mario, kirby, jugglypuff, and link. Another game celda I mean they changed link design to a powderpuff girl or something and as usual nintendo fans see nothing wrong with it. I don\'t eat all the bull nintendo throws at me. Then that "quaitly over quanity" crap thats just an excuse for nintendo to be slow with there games, but stop!!!!!!!! As usual nintendo fans see nothing wrong with that either. Heck, if gamecube came out with one game a year you guys probably wouldn\'t say nothing. Just another excuse to think of for nintendo flaws. What I\'m saying if your 8 years old that game may appeal to you, but I\'m not and I prefer something like doa3, tekken, sc, or vf4. I\'m not a graphics whore I just don\'t see why some of you people consider gamecube GOD. I mean there a drought in games at the moment the next AAA title is months away so whats the big deal about it? As for me I stated I think both ps2 and xbox are a way better system. Thats why I got an xbox at launch they had games I wanted and it was a better system to me. PS2 destorys the gamecube as well. I just don\'t see all the hype for the system and it has barely any games out. The few they got out aren\'t all that great. My final opinion on this topic is xbox is a better system to me.

You have some good point ginko. Its strange it seems like people have a problem with us liking xbox. Plus, all the games ginko named are all xbox games I want. With gamecube I didn\'t see one game at launch I even wanted or interested me. Plus, strange most the people that bash xbox probably doesn\'t have one or just played one game on an EB koisk.

Two things, giving examples of characters does not define the word kiddy. Secondly, try defining the word without using the word. "Kiddy is Kiddy Nintendo characters." That definition wouldn\'t work for anyone. Check dictionary.com and show me where they define words by using the word as their definition. It\'s like if I told a clueless person what a videogame console was by telling them "A videogame console is a videogame console." It just doesn\'t work.
Finally, you\'re not a graphics whore? Go look at the Malice thread with the two new pictures and tell me how you\'re not a graphics whore. This game is on your must-have list despite the fact that you don\'t know anything about the gameplay, but rather somehow know that the PS2 couldn\'t handle the game like the X-Box and know that the game has "Great graphics." If that isn\'t a prime definition of what a graphics whore is, then I don\'t know what is.

Well the reason I said that is cause nintendo been known for kiddy games. Heck, even at spaceworld 2001 they admitted kids are there main audences whats so hard to understand. As for malice that was the first xbox game I saw. I was interested in it back in january of last year when they first unveiled the xbox. I\'m just saying ps2 has beautiful graphics as well games like ttt, gt3, dmc, onimusha 2, FFX, and mgs2. But so far I think xbox has better graphics to me thats all.
-
So making kids your primary audience is what makes their games kiddy? You said that children of all ages can enjoy PS2 and X-Box games, how come people of all ages can\'t enjoy GCN games? Do you somehow think you are "too mature" for Nintendo? If that\'s the case, then tell me how a person can be too mature for anything. Hell, I know adults who say they are too mature for videogames in general and proclaim them as a whole, as toys. So again, I ask you to define what kiddy and mature really is. I just again saw you throw around the word in the Malice thread and yet still, you have not given a clear definition. Very perplexing.

Like I said nintendo at spaceworld admitted there main focus is kids. Why do you think they changed zelda into celda? To make it more for the kids. To make it look more like a cartoon. So it would appeal to kids. Yes everyone can enjoy gamecubes even adults, but thats not for me. You may like it but I don\'t. Thats why people got opinions. You still haven\'t told me what makes gamecube so great and how does there current libary blow xbox\'s away? I\'m waiting.......
-
You still haven\'t told me what makes gamecube so great and how does there current libary blow xbox\'s away? I\'m waiting.......
You can keep waiting. I never said the Gamecube blew away the X-Box launch, I simply said I had more games for it that were more fun. As for what games, I already gave my X-Box and Gamecube impressions above. You can wait for that response all you want, but the answer is all in this thread if you\'d take the time to read it.
Thats why people got opinions.
That\'s great. You don\'t like Gamecube games and others do. Yes, opinions are great things to have, but you toss around insults as if they were facts when in fact, you don\'t even know what those insults mean. If you could just define what a mature game is or what a kiddy game is, then I\'d be happy, but after 4 replies, you still haven\'t done that yet. Either define properly or stop using it, it\'s as simple as that.
-
Wait, I\'ll do it. A kiddy game is geared towards kids and an adult game is geared towards adults.

Ok so what makes the characters in cel damage and mad dash racing mature? Anyway IMO it does not matter if the game is so-called Kiddie so long as it\'s fun because that\'s why we play these games. Super smash bros.-melee may look kiddie but it sure is fun. I know when I\'m playing my girlfriend who beats my donkey kong with her zelda I become raging mad and I can\'t wait to go another round to beat the crap out of her and that\'s fun. So who cares if it looks kiddie because in my opinion the gameplay is not kiddie! As a matter of fact it can get quite intense. This is the same kind of intensity I feel when I play Tekken, SC2, etc.. so it\'s all the same to me. By the way have you even played SSBM? You might be pleasantly surprised. But then again maybe you might not be. It really all goes back to opinion and people\'s preferences for games. For me besides Halo the xbox did not offer anything else that I thought was so great. Halo in my opinion is downright awesome! But then again FPS have always been one of my top genres. But that\'s the whole point! It all goes back to preferences and opinions and if I didn\'t care for FPS I wouldn\'t even have given Halo a second look. But alas, I love FPS and that\'s why I\'m happy I have an XBox (given to me as a gift for christmas along with project gotham and fuzion frenzy).
However I think that some of your reasons for bashing Gamecube titles are wrong. For example, in your post you were about to define kiddie but all you replied with was "all the characters are kiddy nintendo characters like pikachu, mario, etc..." Again who cares about how it looks so long as it\'s fun?

I already told you. Its like this whats makes barney(purple dinosaur) kiddy? That show is made for kids cause of the material in the show for example just like nintendo games are aimed towards kids. Due to the kiddy fantasy setting in a game like celda. Just play something like luigi mansion and mgs2. You will see the different. Luigi mansion is more aimed towards kids due to the cute kiddy characters in the game oppose to something like mgs2 which has a real life time movie setting. Just look at the theme of both games. I don\'t toss my opinion around as fact. I just say whats on my mind.
-
Xbox\'s games on the system launch looked bad to me.... All I wanted to play was Red Faction, err.. I mean Halo..
And GameCube looked like it had better games like Pikmin and SSBM... But still not enough fun games on either system yet... And Xbox\'s future looks bright. But I still think Xbox has nothing to offer.... yet....
-
Rast, you are the same guy who argued with me months ago about how Ninja Gaiden was too mature for Nintendo\'s "kiddy image", even though the NES was home to the Ninja Gaiden trilogy.
What\'s my point to bringing that up? Simple. You hate Nintendo so much you are blind to any actual fact. All you can do is whine and cry about how Nintendo is too "kiddy" for you. Well, that\'s fine. Just spare us the constant trashing in each thread.
Oh and until you played Pikimin, you have no room to talk about how the GC lacks any great games.
-
My head is going to fall off.
Rastalant, you have so much to say so while your mouth is still open, please put your foot in it.
I can\'t keep track of all the ridiculous things you\'ve said, but let me grab a couple:
I already told you. Its like this whats makes barney(purple dinosaur) kiddy? That show is made for kids cause of the material in the show for example just like nintendo games are aimed towards kids.
How about, no? Barney is for kids because it teaches children numbers and how to get along. Nintendo games are for kids because they don\'t have swearing, blood, sexual innuendos, etc. What they do have is fun gaming suitable for young, old, mature, immature, kiddy, and grown-uppy. Suitable for Everyone... except for you, apparently.
Why do you think they changed zelda into celda? To make it more for the kids. To make it look more like a cartoon. So it would appeal to kids.
Very good, except you\'re wrong. Zelda was well into production with it\'s detailed 3D figures and moody environments before Miyamoto changed its direction. He wanted more freedom. He was increasingly unsettled by the games realistic feel. He felt it stifled his creativity. He likes his games to be fun and that\'s why he switched it up. It gave him the creativity and freedom as an artist to inject humor and style in ways that would otherwise have been impossible. For just a sample, download the movie of the game. The enemies are animated over-the-top and Link even winks after winning. It\'s fun and light-hearted, something that he couldn\'t do properly before.
What I\'m saying if your 8 years old that game may appeal to you, but I\'m not and I prefer something like doa3, tekken, sc, or vf4.
Firstly, thank you for telling me what appeals to me, but for the record, you\'re wrong.
I\'m not 8 years old and many Gamecube games appeal to me. I know you must be shocked, especially since some 8 year olds may indeed like the same games as me!
News flash: they\'re video games. Eight year olds would love games like Tekken, GTA, and MGS, too. Big deal.
Btw, whats the next big gamecube game coming out soon?
To be honest, I don\'t even know, Star Fox, maybe? But on the same token, I don\'t care.
You see with so many good games out (I still haven\'t gotten to finish Wave Race - which I liked, Star Wars, or the expert levels in Super Monkey Ball. I still have things to unlock in Super Smash Bros, and I\'d love to be able to play through Pikmin again. I haven\'t gotten to enjoy Madden 2K2 with my friends, yet, and my parents actually like to watch me play Crazy Taxi. All that and I\'m still thinking about picking up SSX Tricky. Not to mention the fun I had with Luigi\'s Mansion. Plus, I don\'t even have titles like THPS3 and ASB2K2.) I\'d say I have enough gaming to last me until the next big hit.
And by the way, how\'s Halo and that pretty button-mashing fighting game?
I just saying nintendo could learn something from sony not to focus so much on kiddy games.
What\'s that? Were you talking about how out of the top twenty games for 2001, only one had an M rating? Maybe you were talking about how with a host of E and occasional T rated games, Nintendo is consistently one of the- if not the- most profitable game developers in the world. Or wait, maybe you\'re talking about how Nintendo has given its 2nd and 3rd party developers the green light to make whatever kind of games they want without having to pass it by Nintendo for approval. Metroid, ED, Too Human, Resident Evil, what?
...
Anyway, I\'ll give credit where credit is due. Through all your garbage, you did have one glimmer of actual thought:
Yes everyone can enjoy gamecubes even adults
-Eik

By Rastalant. I just don\'t think nintendo should focus so much on kiddy games.
EXCUSE ME?!?! roflmao. So, what exatly do kiddy games entail? Is it blood and flesh hungry zombies chasing you while you have to blow their brains out constantly with your big ass sawn-off shotgun while blood spatters over walls and the like? Because if it is, I\'d hate to see what and \'mature\' game involved..... If Nintendo is for Kiddies, then why have Capcom made this series (Resident Evil) exclusive to Nintendo? And why are they bringing out Eternal Darkness: Sanity\'s Requiem (which, btw, is the next big game, feb sometime), which is along that sorta line? pffttt, Kiddy indeed. And don\'t try and come back with \'blah blah Pikachu, blah blah Cel-da (which by the way, is actually called ZELda, so don\'t change it\'s name just because of the graphics, and lets face it, it\'s still going to be the best game ever no matter what it looks like)\', because the PSX had Tickle Me Elmo games for it, along with countless Disney titles. Oh and Perfect Dark Zero is definitely in development, so \'bye bye Halo\'!. moving on.......
X-Box has old quite a bit more than NGC.
Now we all know that this is a load of BS. But, for anyone who doesn\'t know, these are the OFFICIAL launch sale figures. X-Box- 556,000 consoles in 9 days. GCN- 700,000 consoles in 3 days. So, in one third the time, Nintendo sold 144,000 more consoles than Microsoft did. Hmmmmmm, quite a bit more indeed..........Nobody knows the up-to-date sales figures of X-Box or GCN, because official Quarter sales don\'t get released until the end of Feb, so NOBODY can say X-Box has sold more than GCN. but you CAN say GC beat X-Box hands down at launch.
DOA3 amazing is it? ROFLMAO! Soul Calibur will not just blow it out of the water, but it will obliterate it and send it flying into the Stratosphere to be disintegrated.
What i there GOOD that X-Box has lined up? I mean, come on, pretty much NOTHING! just look at GCN. Mario, Zelda (that\'s right, not Cel-da), Starfox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. Metroid Prime, Perfect Dark 0, Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Soul Calibur, Kameo ahh I could go on forever, but i\'ll save you (Rastalant) from the humiliation.
Well, that\'s about all I have to say right now.
Lethargy.
Oh, and don\'t say X-Box has BloodRayne (new name for BloodWake) lined up, because that\'s Gamecube confimed too :D
-
K for one cell shading does not turn a game into kiddy automatically
cartoons dont always equal quality entertainment for kids - sure zelda or celda as the GCphobic - rasta calls is now cell shaded - that doesnt make the material - which he or anyone here knows anything about is kiddy
i know plenty of anime with kiddy cartoon looks but with a mature or adult appeal - looks arent what you judge a game on and you need to learn that rasta - you judge kiddy games by stating they look kiddy - when thats not what defines it - then you say its content when you know nothing of content besides the games looks
anyway its not that people dont like you to like Xbox - just you one like it way too much too soon and two you like it for the wrong reasons
there thats that
-
This is so funny...some of you have resorted to cheap shots.
Like Eiksirf\'s
"And by the way, how\'s Halo and that pretty button-mashing fighting game?"
That was kinda dumb...Halo is great by the way. Dead or Alive 3 is amazing. If you would get past your fanboyism and actually play the game, you might have some fun (especially in Tag Team mode).
Lethargy
"Oh and Perfect Dark Zero is definitely in development, so \'bye bye Halo\'!. moving on......."
Halo gone??!?! Yah, that\'ll happen! Have you even played Halo? It\'s not going anywhere...
"What i there GOOD that X-Box has lined up? I mean, come on, pretty much NOTHING! just look at GCN. Mario, Zelda (that\'s right, not Cel-da), Starfox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet. You don\'t have to save me the humilation. Bring it...
If you call- Jet Grind Radio Future, Crazy Taxi Next, House of the Dead 3, Sega GT 2002, Malice, Soul Calibur 2, Ridge Racer X, Black and White, Project Ego, Enclave, Wreckless, Unreal Championship, Lord of the Rings, Panzer Dragoon 4, Rallisport Racing, Yager, Ghost Recon, Brute Force, Maximum Chase, etc. NOTHING?
While Gamecube does have an impressive lineup, Xbox has an equally astounding line of games coming this year.
-
Ginko, your credibility has been completely lost already, calling xbox the best system ever, even over your DC

Let me see..... Hmmm... Most of those games don\'t look fun or are already being played on another system..
Jet Grind Radio Future, Project Ego, Panzer Dragoon(I\'ll give you these.. Those look fun.)
Sega GT 2002, Malice, Soul Calibur 2, Ridge Racer X, Black and White, Unreal Championship, Rallisport Racing. (All are games that are same old.... Same old.. Just prettier graphics.. Ooooo..)
These are games I\'ll have to look into.. For I have no idea what they are about.. Or how they play:
Enclave, Wreckless, Yager, Ghost Recon, Brute Force, Maximum Chase.
Overall.. I dunno if I wanna own a Xbox yet.. Nothing too thrilling..
-
Ginko, your credibility has been completely lost already, calling xbox the best system ever, even over your DC
You all keep typing this like it matters...I like my Xbox, I think that\'s what bothers all of you.
Let me see..... Hmmm... Most of those games don\'t look fun or are already being played on another system..
I\'m sorry, did you say don\'t look fun? How bout you wait and reserve that judgement until you play them or at least they\'re out and about and have credible reviews. Also, none of the games I mentioned are on other systems. In fact, most of them are exclusive at the moment.
Sega GT 2002, Malice, Soul Calibur 2, Ridge Racer X, Black and White, Unreal Championship, Rallisport Racing. (All are games that are same old.... Same old.. Just prettier graphics.. Ooooo..)
Same old, same old... Ummm, just like Gran Turismo 3 is same old, same old? Just prettier graphics. The game is still fun, no? The same applies to all the games I listed. This could apply to all systems. Watch...
Jak and Daxter- Banjo-kazooie without loadtimes and with prettier graphics.
Metal Gear solid 2-Metal Gear solid with more interaction and better graphics.
Dinosaur Planet- Zelda with different characters and atmosphere.
Super Smash Bros: Melee- Super Smash Bros. with more characters and better graphics.
Dead or Alive 3- Dead or Alive 2 with prettier graphics and a bit better fighting system.
Halo- everyother FPS but improved upon, oh and with better graphics.
FFX- every other ff game but with better graphics and a better gameplay setup.
So, I can apply your simpilistic point of view to all games on any system. But, that would be stupid.

That was right after I went on about all the games on GCN right now... I think you missed the point.
I was comparing the list of many great GC games that are available to the handful for Xbox. That\'s how I see it, anyway, and that\'s what I was expressing.
-Eik
-
We just have different points of view then...
Anyway, sorry for the misunderstanding.
-
Heh, it\'s cool.
You\'re stretching it a bit in the \'same old, same old\' reply, though.
Fact is, you could draw comparisons from any current game to a game in the past just because there\'s been so many.
Luckily for us, these games can sometimes be major improvements and steps forward and that\'s what makes them new and fun again.
Sure there\'ve been games where you created an army and controlled them, but Pikmin improved the concept and took a few steps in a new direction and we\'ve got something fun.
The same could be said for MGS2, Halo, or any other game that\'s been a big hit.
To contrast, a game like Wave Race: Blue Storm, didn\'t differ much from its predecessor and that seems to have taken away almost all of the fun for people who didn\'t absolutely love the first one.

Just saying that nothing on the system so far intrests me...
-
ajoh432...please...
-
Soul Calibur 2(MULTIPLATFORM Uh-oh! Looks like you were wrong.)
"Also, none of the games I mentioned are on other systems."
Just misunderstood, they aren\'t on any systems yet...
" In fact, most of them are exclusive at the moment. " Most, not all as you see...
Jet Grind Radio Future(can you say... same thing only better?)
Jet Grind Radio Future looks like alot of fun. I loved the first one, and the new one is based more on speed rather than painting.
, Crazy Taxi Next(getting old), House of the Dead 3(ehhh... what?), Sega GT 2002, Malice(smashin fun! YAY!)
I happen to enjoy all the above series...Malice looks like fun, I hope it turns out to be a good game.
, Ridge Racer X(already been done before)
I still think the series is fun...
Black and White(hmm.. guess we\'ll have to wait on this one... I doubt it will be anything great.)
Why? Looks promising. The PC version is fun...
Project Ego, Enclave, Wreckless, Unreal Championship(yet... ANOTHER FPS, played enough of those already.)
But you haven\'t played through that one or any of the above which leaves you no room for judgement.
Lord of the Rings(based on a movie....hmm)
And this makes it a bad game already?
, Panzer Dragoon 4, Rallisport Racing(racing games are just getting old, we\'ve seen enough of these in the past.)
We\'ve also seen enough platform games, shooters, FPS, sports games...what\'s your point?
, Yager, Ghost Recon, Brute Force, Maximum Chase.(Isn\'t this a chairot weapon slashing game?.. Umm.... real fun there.)[/quote]
No the chairot racing game is something else.
Other than that, I don\'t expect you to like the games that I am anticipating to see how they turn out. Good? Bad? I don\'t know yet and neither do you. You are making assumptions on games that all of us know little about. That\'s kinda short sighted if you ask me.

Yes, yes... I understand I went overboard there... But I still feel that some of those games won\'t be anything different... Believe me... I\'ve been let down before...
Don\'t get me wrong.... For I will own a Xbox when I have the money and the time is right...
-
Lots of us have been disappointed in games, but we\'ve also been suprised.
That\'s what I\'m hoping for, is that most if not all of those games turn out to be good. From what I\'ve seen so far, the Xbox doesn\'t do anything to make me see otherwise. (Except for Azurik. Now, that\'s a disappointment.)

Preferences and opinions . That\'s what it really boils down to.

Hmmm lets see here. . .
Jet Grind is gonna be a decent game - not my cup of tea but ill give you that
Crazy Taxi Next - thats nothing that has been improved upon enough to warrant it special on xbox then other systems its already out on
House of the Dead 3 - its cel shaded and the only reason i have against this is it makes the graphics less believeable and therefore you dont feel the atmosphere as much ie not so into it and scared - i like feeling like im not playing a game but in it - thats hard to do with cel shading
Sega GT 2002 - cant say havent really played the game
Malice - i know nothing new on gameplay and the only thing i have seen improved on the game is the fact she has a mouth now - wow let me go preorder ir right away!
Soul Caliber 2 - what system is it not gonna be on - the indrema :D - i mean its nothing to brag about
Black and White - it can be played and has been played in PC with great graphics for quite sometime - how is it better on Xbox - thats like PS2 bragging about Giants - catch my drift
Project Ego - need to know more on actual gameplay and not speculation - if they can make it as realistic as they want or say then i will be quite happy
ok most of the other games Enclave- Maximum Chase and a few i really dont know a lot about since there hasnt been a lot released on it - therefore that alone doesnt warrant it as a game to look foward to or hold the system creditable for
the others like Unreal Championship is nothing more then what people have been playing on their PCs for ages
Ghost Recon is something PC goers are playing as we speak
Its ok to like Xbox - i like it but you like it for stupid reasons to put it bluntly
thats all i wanted to say i guess
-
cartoons dont always equal quality entertainment for kids - sure zelda or celda as the GCphobic - rasta calls is now cell shaded - that doesnt make the material - which he or anyone here knows anything about is kiddy
You know, The Simpsons is an animated series. It\'s been pretty popular, and undoubtedly fairly mature, for a good ten or more years now.

These are all your opinions and don\'t matter...:suprised
I loved the first Jet Grind, Crazy Taxi Next is suppose to be a departure from the series with different gameplay, House of the Dead 3 (I\'ll still give it a shot), I liked Sega GT enough too get me excited for the sequeal. Malice still looks like fun, I don\'t care that it\'s going to other systems; I have an Xbox, and I\'ll be playing it there. I liked Black and White on PC, I\'ll more than likely enjoy it on Xbox. Project Ego is something to look forward too for me...
I don\'t see why I should have to explain my reasoning to you for liking my Xbox. I like it and that\'s all that matters.
And if you don\'t mind, explain what smart reasons to like it would be:D
-
ohhh i see
you give me bs reasons why you like it
but when i give you legit opionated but legit answers they cant be smartly done - you may not agree but those games arent something to get excited about just yet wait till you even know something about the game then what it looks like
i mean you bend over backwards at every new and innotiative  xbox title but yet what about nintendo - why cast them out - they have many good games as well in the future
and so does ps2
in fact imo they have more to look forward too then xbox at the current moment
im just voicing my opinion yes but im just saying you are getting excited over so much superficial crap like graphics - they make the game look nice but they dont make the game

but when i give you legit opionated but legit answers they cant be smartly done - you may not agree but those games arent something to get excited about just yet wait till you even know something about the game then what it looks like
i mean you bend over backwards at every new and innotiative  xbox title but yet what about nintendo - why cast them out - they have many good games as well in the future
and so does ps2
in fact imo they have more to look forward too then xbox at the current moment
im just voicing my opinion yes but im just saying you are getting excited over so much superficial crap like graphics - they make the game look nice but they dont make the game
At not one point did I argue against your opinion...I\'m just defending mine... yah, go back and read through it. Also, what makes your opinions legit?!?! You said nothing but what you feel about it...
And at what point did I say that I\'m just excited about the graphics? I\'ve read just about everything released about Project Ego, I\'ve played Black and White, Sega GT 2002 is more or less like the first one, House of the Dead 3 more of the same, Jet Grind Radio 2 is based more on speed unlike the first that had you stopping and painting, I\'ve seen Brute Force in action, same for Wreckless, Soul Calibur 2 will be like the first... I could go on and on for each game I listed. I don\'t know what your freaking out about.
And for your Gamecube and PS2 comment, I plan on getting both later. I really want to play FFX and Jak and Daxter. Then I\'ll get a gamecube when Starfox Adventures, Metroid, Eternal Darkness, and such come out. Right now, Xbox has all the games I want, so that\'s the one I got.
Anymore to ***** about?
