Docwiz once had as his signature, Buy American - Buy Xbox. That got me to thinking.. Sure Microsoft is an American company.. but when was the last time you saw a piece of electronics.. expecially computer parts.. that were made in the USA? The Nvidia GPU may be manufactured in the US.. I\'ll give it that.. but come on. 10 bucks says if you open up the Xbox case, the VAST majority of the "made in" tags will list countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and such.
I know Microsoft has assembly plants in America (As does Sony, who has PS2/EE assembly plants in at LEAST New Jersey that I know of).. but assembly is only a small fraction of production. Does anyone know for sure where the Xbox components are made?
BTW: This info is also for my sister who is considering buying an Xbox, but bein on a buy american kick, she wants to know weither or not it\'s bein made here or overseas before she makes a 300 dollar investment based partly on who\'s got the job of building it.

dont forget to ask her where the flag thats on her car window was made.
A daily lesson in ignorance?
i remember those
:)

China? :p
As far as I know, there\'s an assembly plant in Mexico for Xbox.

It says "Made in Malaysia" on the back of both of my Xbox controllers. I know one of the primary Xbox manufacturing plants is located in Mexico. And.. yea, your point is fairly well made.

And what does Billy boy do for u?(other than giving u a crummy OS every 2 years).

It\'s made in other countries for pennies. The profits stays here in the USA. :D

Yeah pstwo, PROFIT. Know where that goes? Into Billys pocket making him richer, instead of employing hundreds of American workers and giving them a decent celary with which to support their familys. Of course the money going into American workers would also be money right back into the economy through taxes, consumer products, and education.
Lets also not forget the fact that MS is NOT making ANY profit on the Xbox yet.. and probably won\'t till sometime in the middle or end of it\'s lifespan depending on how well it sells.
Um.. that\'s the whole point of buying American. Not soley to support American companies, but mainly to support American workers. That\'s kinda the jist of this whole thread, in that American workers AREN\'T being supported by the Xbox.. and it makes Docwiz\'s sig look ignorant.

XBoxen are manufactured by Flextronics in Parque Integral de Tecnologia in Mexico. Here\'s a good article if you want to read more:
