im still a Square man Mr. Jacob
-
you suck. Sega iz teh best!!!!!!!11!!1! Square makes movies (that bomb) Sega doesn\'t need to add movies to hide ****ty gameplay!

U R TEH FUK!!!!11!!!!@@!!!1
5Q|_|/-\\R3 0\\/\\/|\\|5 j00!!11
Dey are de storyline kinds and final fantasy alone owns me, netherlone their other stellar titles (penis) of th past present and future (6+9 = erection) they have also shown their verilitiy by making many great games from other genres
i dunno, i love sega too, and sega are probably more consistant with their games than Square, but...Squares best games i hold WAY above sega\'s
thats jut the way it is...things\'ll never be the same
-
your nuts!! (are showing!)
Eric Jacob

I BIT MUH TUM @ U!!!!11!!@@!!1
you cant argue against my personal opinion :) if you want a war, you have to start a less opinionated stopic, other wise you look like quite an ass (and what a fine ass it is)
kinda like Quddus calling me a child in the xbox or ps2 thread, ahaha
-
FF7 = Best Game Ever, Square made FF7, Square = Best Developer PERIOD!
-
well, its akes more than one game to make a developer the best developer ever
its like saying that because Led Zeppelin made Stairway to Heaven that it automatically makes them the best band...which they are not (although they are right up their *****ass\'sssss)
:fro: toot on
note: i have a yeast infection

you realize im talking about FF7!! THE BEST GAME EVER!! only the best developer could have made this game which is square!! AHAHAHAH oh well, back to FFX!
-
uhh...hardly...it has the best storyline and has a lot of depth in its sublpots and character developement etc. but thats not necessarily the work of the best developers...its the work of Hinorobi Sakaguchi, its more creative flair, than abilities :D
-
square develops the best RPG\'s, thats it
they made a great racing game, and a great fighting game
-
ever play eirgeiz? considered one of the more innovative fighters around
and tobal 2 is still considered one of the best fighters ever by most critics i hear
Bushido Blade perhaps?
plus Bouncer was fun, too short, but fun (exxxxccccccellent multiplayer)
they have other games in other genres that are considered to be fantasticasticals, such as Einhander
and their RPG\'s are unparralelled
-
Booya, I made a discussion.
Their RPGs are only better because their games are more visible than a Sega RPG or a Game Arts RPG. Anybody I know who has a privilege of playing Panzer Dragoon Saga, Grandia (the Saturn version, not the jacked up PSX version), Phantasy Star II or IV, Lunar 1 or 2, or the Shining Force series can tell you that they are as good or better than Square\'s best.
Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III are excellent RPGs but are no match for Panzer Dragoon Saga. Note that if you look at almost all of my past RPG posts, I will name Chrono Trigger as my favorite, I did not play PDS before that. Now I know.
PDS can be completed in 20 hours or 70 hours, it is how you play the game that makes the experience, flying through the game beating everyone, or getting every item, fighting every battle and exploring every cave, you decide.
The cutscenes actually develop the story, and are relevant, while many of Squares are not.

pfft, says you, all opinion my friend :) BUT i will give you the little victory of knowing that i am not too familiar with Sega\'s RPG\'s, i do however find it hard to believe ill like any games better than FF7, CT, FF3 and FF9...they are so far ahead of any other game ive played...but who knows, i might be singing another tune altogether one day
Some stupid fag says

pfft, so\'s every RPG ive ever played, whats the difference? do tell...im interested (seriously (slimey donkey cock (german children playing in New Jersey shouting "Man, its like a sauna in here" (taking a sh1t on your head and laughing at your disgrace)))))
The cutscenes actually develop the story, and are relevant, while many of Squares are not.
pfft, cut scene is irrelevant, final fantasy and most other Square RPG\'s use in game graphisc and your standard fair of talking, clicking, talking, masturbating, clicking etc. etc. etc. there basically arent any cut scenes (not in the traditional sense), and i got no problem with that...the FMV\'s on the other hand, well...why not put them in? in some cases they advace the story.in other cases...they are just eye candy (and some of the best FMV eye candy known to man (woman (lawnmower testicles))) why not put them in?? they are there for action sequences etc. intro\'s..endings...why put them in parts to dvance the story, when the whole god damn game is directed towards the irreverent task of advancing the story, ****knuckle
-
The difference is, is that no other RPG makes it worth your while to actually complete all tasks and find everything. The game on a whole feels more complete and more worthwhile when you do. The second time I beat Chrono Trigger felt the same, even though I tried to do everything, probably more than I should have.
Here is what you need to do. Get Genecyst (an emulator) download Phantasy Star II and IV, and Shining Force II. get a comfortable chair and play them! You will be hooked when you give them a chance. Trust me.

Its the same way in all RPG games, so I dont know what your talking about.

Also, I liked Shinning Force 2, it was one of the handful of RPG\'s that I dont mind watching somebody else play, but its not anywhere close to FF7.
-
will do altered, thanks for the tip *nudges you with his elbow* \'eyyy...your alright
but your wrong...dont get me wrong here....your dead set...incorrect (i dont know what im talking about)
-
I hope that isn\'t your third elbow you are talking about. ;)
Some of the anime screens in PSIV are so beautiful, too! Just wait man, just wait!

Thats a nice opinon you got there. FF7 as a boat load of extra stuff in it thats worth while to get.
BTW I do have some of thoes RPG\'s you mentioned above, but its hard to play on your computer, I tried to play Secret of Mana again, man I thought my eyes were gonna grow legs and jump out of my head!!
-
FF7 felt like a chore the second time through, much like FF3, perhaps it is because every 3 steps is another battle.
PSIV can irk you the same way with the insane amount of random battles, it is truly an RPG that is tough to go through again.

i think you missed his point man...
-
Why does everyone leave out Shining Force 1.
I love that game.
I thought it was better than 2 actually.
Though I do like all the extra stuff you can do in part two.
Like the different promotion routes.
Instead of your centaur becoming a Knight, he becomes a pegasaus knight.
OH yes.
The pegasaus Knight.
Two was harder though.

I think most RPG\'s are a chore to play again, you need lots of time and no social life and you\'ll do fine I guess. I did however play FF7 3 times. 1st to just play, 2nd to get everything possible, 3rd to max everything out and make everybody a 9999 in everything and master every matria, buts thats because i have no friends so there!

The way Bob posts is so funny. hahahahha. That\'s all I have to say. Bye. :o

I ain\'t even gonna touch most of the subjects in this post. All I wanted to say that is that, IMO, the Phantasy Star series on the whole is better than the FF series. When you combine the storylines of all the games into the massive epic that PS is.. It really adds a depth to the series that FF can\'t touch. When you break it down game per game it gets debatable. PS1 was a masterpiece of 8bit technology and better in almost every concievable way than any 8bit FF games. PSII is great as well, but I was kind of put off by the horrible translation job and lack of substance in some areas. (I.E. The accident between the Space Station and Palma for example)
PSIII was like the FF8 of the PS series. It was a good RPG as a standalone, but it didn\'t fit in well with past PS games. If you weren\'t really paying attention to the storyline or didn\'t have a guide with you it becomes difficult to make some of the necessary storyline connections with past PS games. PSIV is the crown jewel of the series and is almost like the FF6~7 of the PS world. Lots of mini quests, hidden items, and gorgeous cutscenes.. all tied together with unforgettable characters and an awesome storyline. Phantasy Star Online is also a great game (Nolers and Hackers aside) that is best played online with people who actually like Role Playing. Unlike what most review sites say, PSO actually fits well into the PS storyline. It\'s just that PSO is a contiuation of the story from the perspective of one of PSIII\'s endings. (Think of Ragol as Earth, and the ruins being the Alyssa III)
As for all of their other games, I guess it really depends on what kind of gamer your are. If you like fast paced Arcade action and fun but off the wall kinda games.. then yes Sega is the best. I personally think Sega is the best for a few reasons.
1. They aren\'t vicious backstabbers and shyt talkers like Nintnedo is.
2. They like to branch out, making new games and new genres with each successive console. Although they haven\'t yet found that balance between the fresh/new and playin the franchise card.
3. They were close buisness partners of my personal favorite game company, Sierra. Even beyond "just buisness", they went so far as to offer all the ex-employees at Oakhurst temporary jobs at Sega until they could get back on their feet after "Chainsaw Monday". I know of no other game companies who are compassionate enough to do something like that.
4. Sega has always fought censorship and gov\'t intervention in the games industry. While other companies would fold and obey, Sega has always been right there defending gamers rights from back in the days of Night Trap & Doom to more recent hearing like those that followed the Columbine massacre. Todays ESRB ratings are a direct result of Sega\'s fight for ratings and education over Censorship.
That\'s all I have to say about that......

you think i give a **** what you think? that game was highly innovative, and the majority of critics liked the game and praised it with many scores in the high 90\'s...i quite enjoyed it, i was willing to sacrifice complexity of your standard fighter at the timefor easy fully 3D movement as well as the ability to jump on objects (well lubricated children sliding down a slide) and use them etc. (not to mention use cloud and tifa (and pretend i was having sex with tifa (cloud (vincent (charles barkley (president of the heart foundation))))))

If you\'re gonna attempt Phantasy Star 2, either have ALOT of free time or use guides and maps cause PS2 is INSANELY DIFFICULT!!!
Those dungeons, caves, etc are humungous and you can get lost so easily.
Is Sega the best developer?
Hmmm...
They did make Shenmue and many classics.
Better than Capcom?
I dunno...
