Title: Baldurs Gate
Post by: Robbie_2k on January 03, 2002, 09:12:15 AM
Any 1 else finished Baldurs Gate ? I completed the main maps with 1 of the characters, however even though I think its 1 of the best games I\'ve played I thought it was over 2 quickly. Any 1 else think that?

I agree.

I thought you were supposed to be able to play again with the character you ended with at the same level.

You can play with your completed charachter, this game is not short IMO, Took me about 15 hours to complete.
Im a level 23 archer, he is cool.

The character you start The Gauntlet with, you can use him to do the game after you complete The Gauntlet, apparently !     I wonder when the next BG will be released.

You don\'t call 15 hours short?? That\'s short as hell! I want more games like FFX... Took me just over 100 hours to beat that game. Now that\'s a game worth paying 50 bucks for!!! I refuse to buy a game that takes me less than a day to beat. I bought Mgs2 took me just over 25 hours to beat it the first time, but I was exploring and being carefull and just having fun. Now I can wiz thru it in about 8 hours.

I want more games that have at least 25-50 hours of play time before it\'s beaten. Oops I think I strayed off topic... Oh well.

I agree with Dajo4... if you buy a game...usually about 40 quid, you\'d expect it to have some playing time in it. I still say BG is amazing, however, I wonder how much more time it would of took to make a few more levels so the game had a little more life.  The game took me 12 hours to finish and that was being very carefull, and exploring every bit of the map, even the last boss took about 30sec\'s to kill.

Well you two are dreaming, it will be a LONG ass time before more than just RPG\'s are over 20 hours.  Well back to subject.  I loved Baldurs Gate, I beat it on co-op with my friend and now were using our characters under Extreme mode, you must beat The Gauntlet to get extreme.  From what he told me you must beat Extreme before you can get the character you used in The Gauntlet.  My only complaint with the game is how little they added to it.  I think there should have been more spells for the Sorceress, and a more wide array of weapons for the Dwarv. I don\'t know about the archer because I haven\'t used him yet.

Bozco, is the big steel golem the last enemy of the Gauntlet level or is there more?
I tried only a few times yet but I run out of time or die at that golem.

The Big Steel Golem is in the last room, right past him is a door to leave, but you must kill everyone before you win

Your crazy dude! It won\'t be long at all before games, ALL games have much longer playtime. It\'s just not cost effective for companies, and soon they are going to relize a game that takes 10 hours to beat is just not worth 50 bucks.

And that\'s not the only reason. Thats just one of many reasons gameplay in games will continue to lengthen. Just watch, this coming year, many games will  be 25-50 hrs of playtime. NOT JUST RPG\'s either.

I totally agree, the game is entirely too short.  The PC version of the original Baldur\'s Gate took almost 200 hours to complete all the quests, and Baldur\'s Gate 2 on the PC took almost as long.  Anything less than 50 hours in a Baldur\'s Gate title is a ripoff IMHO since they have offered so much more in the PC based series.

The story, the graphics, and the sound of this game are phenomenal.  Unfortunately the gameplay is not.  This game is boring as hell.

Baulder\'s Gate is incredibly fun in 2 player thing... I love playing with a friend.... But single player is too dull...

If you have somebody who would play it with you... Then get it, it\'s much more fun then.:)

The one player is alright but the coop is awesome, lots of fun, its basically a race for the treasure chest

It sure didn\'t start ut that way but for me by the time I got 1/2 way thru act 2 I was getting very upset at the monotony of the gameplay

Whenever my cousin took all the good items I just let him die in the boss fights, we were playing our second time around on extreme and he was the dwarve and I was the sorceress, well the close combat on extreme is way harder than the spells attack because he now has ****ty weapons but my level five ball of lightening is still awesome

BG:da is fun Gauntlet clone with some elements from Moria, and co-op mode rules. It has nothing to do with rpg-games, it´s pure hack&slash.
