Check this out:
Office Gear Solid? For real?
Based on the evidence at hand, it seems Konami has some alternative plans for its highly evolved Metal Gear Solid 2 engine. As can be seen in these screenshots, Kojima\'s team has seemingly taken anonymous background figures from the game and given them each their own Warholian shot at 15 minutes of fame.
Much in the way background characters like Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield were fleshed out and given life in Pulp Fiction, bit-players like Office Worker (female), Office Worker (male), Middle-Age Lady and a host of others get three-dimensionalized in Office Gear Solid.
The reality is that these screens were taken from the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid 2, which boasts a few extra features that Hideo Kojima\'s team didn\'t have time to put into the North American version. In this movie-player mode, gamers can swap different characters in and out of seven different cinematic scenes, and then watch them play through in their entirety.
Did you not like the scene where Fortune gives that long-winded speech to the soldiers on the bridge? Swap the crybaby out and cast Office-Worker (male) in her place. The voice acting remains the same, so when Office Worker (male) chirps out in Fortune\'s voice it quickly becomes hysterical. Want to see the opening scene where Snake jumps off the bridge onto the tanker, but with Middle-Age Lady performing the acrobatics? Well now you can!
Other characters make limited appearances in certain scenes, like Rose the whiny girlfriend. In the confrontation between Solidus and Metal Gear Ray you can kick Solidus to the curb and insert the infinitely shaplier Rose instead. It\'s a hoot and a holler playing Junior Director...if you can get your hands on the Japanese version of the game.
Other bonuses, like the Boss Battle mode, which lets you fight all the bosses, in order, without the benefit of extra rations, are fairly hardcore...and difficult. Are there other secrets that Konami might have put in that we don\'t know about yet? Probably. One interesting feature would be if you could play as a different character model (perhaps the Solider in Hi-tech Gear) through the whole game
Office Gear Solid.
