Half seems extreme in this case, but she was there at his side from when he began making money till now. If he were a better husband then she wouldn\'t be getting a divorce. He had no need to come back to the NBA and if that is one of the reasons then so be it. He chose it.
If he is worth 800 million, he still has 400 million. No clue how much he is worth, but you get the point.

She was hardly with him when he had no money. They were married in 89 and his first season with the Bulls was the 84-85 season. They were married after he had been on a few all star teams, won defensive player of the year awards, MVPs, been the league\'s leading scorer, and made a few million dollars.
He obviously had a need to come back or he wouldn\'t have. Sure he had already accomplished about as much as a professional athlete could, but he obviously had personal reasons for coming back. Not knowing anything about their marriage, I don\'t think any of us are in a position to say he wasn\'t a good husband. Yes, he chose to come back to the NBA, just as she chose to marry a professional athlete. She should have known the probability that he would rarely spend time with his family during the season.
Support the kids, of course, but she seems a bit greedy to demand half of his assets. One of the many reasons people might think twice before getting married.
-
I don\'t think it is sad, just reality, he was cheating on his wife for 10 years.
Think about the wife ;)
How should she feel when her husband was f-ing half the groupies around him? Do you guys think MJ is some priest? LOL :D he had his way with at least 1000 girls. Do you guys know what he does in his spare time? Yup, the nuddy bar. LOL.
-
All of you please do not cultivate any sympathy for this SOB. He got where he is by virtue of the NBA\'s marketing, making himself into the darling of fans, refs, and know-nothing sports commentators around the world. Would he have been as successful in the NBA without all the favorable calls that go along with being heralded as "The Greatest Player to Ever Play The Game (tm)?" He\'s admitted in numerous interviews that he cheats and gets away with it because of who he is.
He earned the bulk of his income selling his image to Nike shoes, which were manufactured for a few dollars each by virtual slave labor in the third world, and sold to poor inner city kids who could not well afford the $149.00 price tag. He\'s as guilty as Nike for exploiting those workers.
You can only feel sorry for this a-hole losing half his fortune if you think he deserved that fortune in the first place.
-
ahh..the MJ haters come out...
-
I hate stuff like that, the man works his ass off making a career for himself while the wife sits on her ass all day, and then she thinks she deserves half of his money, I would give her a 20 and tell her to catch a bus
-
If this is about Michael cheating on her, if in fact he has, then more power to her. If this is because she can\'t stand Michael having a life of his own and returning to the NBA because he so chooses to then she can go screw herself. Michael Jordan IS the greatest player ever, no one has done what he has done or with the style he\'s done it with. Yes, he gets star treatment from officials. But so does all the other great players in recent history.

Well see thats the thing, he is partially at fault if that is the reason. He spends ALL of his time in DC, and not at home ever since he bought in on the Wizards, let alone when he started playing again. How many times did he say he was gonna retire to be able to spend more time around kids wife and kids?
When MJ got married and had kids..his own life became shared. Thats how a family works.
-
When he said he was retiring to spend more time with his kids he was saying that to hide the real reason. First time was because he wanted to get away from the spotlight and try baseball, something his recently murdered father had wanted him to do. He knew the public would not completely understand that so he chose not to reveal the true reason till later. Second time he retired he did so not because he wanted to stop playing, it was because the morons in managment up in the Windy City decided to break the team apart and send them scattering. And another thing, just because your married does not mean you should\'nt be allowed to have your own life. I\'m sure his wife could have moved to Washington DC if she was so upset he was away from the house so much. What did she have before she met Michael? Where would she be if she had never met him? Would she have the same quality of life? The same peace of mind of knowing she and her family would always have the best and never have to worry about money once in her life? I did\'nt think so. The NBA season is only a few months out of the year anyhow and with all the money he has I\'m sure arrangements could have been made for contact to be made on a very regular basis. This is not a "problem" unique to her and not effecting other professional athletes lives. Now again, if this is not the reason and marital infidility is then I support her action.

such is the reason of compromise. If he hadnt been so wishy washy in whatever his true feelings may or may not have been, this may not have happend. She has dealt with this for almost 10 years now. You really have no idea how much MJ is not at home.
Im not saying she is inocent in any of this, but dont be so close minded just b/c you like MJ.
-
Yes, I admire Michael Jordan a great deal, but I\'m not being closed minded. Thats why I added "if the reason is marital infidility then I support her action" to my statement. And speaking of compromise, what about her compromising?? She has everything she has because her husbands Michael Jordan. She KNEW who she was marrying. She was marrying a professional athlete. Professional athletes travel. She does\'nt own Michael, nor should Michael own her. If she decided to start running her own business or something like that, then Michael should\'nt stand in the way of that either. But its doubtful she\'s ever cast a thought in those lines because she already has a luxurious lifestyle courtesy of him. And notice she\'s suing for enough so that she would be able to continue that lifestyle without him around. She wants the whole 25,000 acre estate, permanant custody of the kids, AND half his assets!! Brings back memories of Eddie Murphys skit in RAW. "HALF!!!" "I\'ll take half his *hit!"

Thats the 25,000 sq.ft. home..not 25k acre. Besides..what would they do, split it on half too? At any rate..neither of us know what is going on..he may have cheated on her, she may be sick of him not being at home as he stated he would. Could be a million other things.

My bad on the acre,ft. thing. :D

i AGREE I am not saying she should get nothing. But he busted his ass to get everything he has. What has she done? Nothing but sit on her ass and reap his benifits. That is one reason marriage scares me.
Good riddens he needs a younger gal anyways.

I can\'t believe how you went into my mind and tooks the words right out under me.
Give her 20 and kick her ass out. That is his house. He earned it. That is why men should never marry when they are rich.

BOTTOM LINE: MJ loves basketball more than her.
She wanted him to stay home in retirement, MJ just loved the game too much and went against her wishes.
End of story.
I used to love MJ, but I\'ve lost all respect for him when he decided to return once again. I mean what a way to go out, hitting the game winning shot to win the championship. It doesn\'t get better than that. And he wants to ruin that? He won\'t be remembered in the same way....

onl for those with no memory..I remember when he had NO rings and was still great.
I do however agree he should have stayed away since he went out on top since it is unlikely he will be on top again..IE: more championship rings.

The fact he has led a once hapless Washington Wizards team to a 18-14 record when they had all of 19 wins all of last year only adds to his legend. He\'s taken 3 years off, had to battle tendinitis, but now that he\'s finally shaken that and is getting healthy again his true greatness is showing. This Wizards team, led by his Airness, has amassed a 9 game winning streak(franchise record). That was followed by a two game losing streak with Richard Hamilton out with a torn groin muscle but MJ put an end to that in a hurry with back to backs of 51 and 45. The Wizards now have another 4 game winning streak going and he is now once again taking the focus of his scoring and making others better, he was 2 assists shy of a triple double tonight. I have DirecTV with NBA league pass and I watch every game he plays and he is a true joy to watch. Everyone else can make a big deal out this "last shot" crap but it was NEVER a big deal to him, he wanted to keep playing. Why should he quit just because a select few want to remember that as being the last shot he ever took? I remember being one of the more optimistic people surrounding his return but he has exeeded even my expectations. Those Wizards players go into games expecting to win now instead of expecting to lose. He has imposed his will on them and they are infinately better for it. They may not win the championship but #23 is showing once again why he is the greatest player ever to lace on a pair of sneakers.

MJ was great, a long time ago, now he is just some Hot item that the NBA wants to use to get more people to go to games, and watch NBA games.
MJ gets far too many favorable calls from the Refs, and when he gives a foul, they look the other way
-
ahh poor MJ, I would never let a woman take my blood away from me... But that rule where women get custody because they are better parents or some crap really mess it up. hope it goes out well

Nope he "WAS" great, do you think his almost 40 year old knees won\'t give out before the end of the season?
I really hope Wiz dont\' trade their young talent for someone say from "Portland", when MJ retires (once again  ) Wiz will fall down to the Bulls type play level.

You see my son you have no entire clue what you are talking about.
There where reason that MJ decided to come back to the NBA. First of all the NBA itself needed mj\'s help. They needed big numbers in the ratings because the contract with NBC was coming up and they needed to sign a new big deal. The league has been losing ratings and fan attendents. The advertising dollars have not been as big.
And with MJ returning the NBA new they could grab ratings and fans would come because it would spark interest. That is why every game MJ playes in sells out. And that is one reason he returned.
Second the wizards need help. He can take his ownership sit it on a shelf get out there bring fans to Washington try and make those guys some sort of contenders. Then after doing so take his ownership right back.
I guess it all worked out the Nba signed and new big deal with ABC. So now it looks like NBC has no sports except ice skating which is really not a sport. And is heavily populated bye homosexuals.

Uh, and all BS that tops going out on the peak of the mountain with a buzzer shot for an NBA Championship?? So your saying Ratings and Money are greater than that?
Daughter, you don\'t know what your talking about.
