Title: older models defective?
Post by: shedoskj on January 09, 2002, 11:29:21 AM
I\'ve heard the older models of the ps2 (ie. the ones around launch) are defective. Is this true or was it just blown out of proportion. I\'m probably gonna buy a new one anyway, but I just wanna know.

I wouldn\'t touch the old ones! I\'ve already gone through 3 of them and even the one I have now is only semi ok.

Too many PS2s have had problems for this to be blown out of all proportions. Ok im not saying that every launch PS2 is crap im just saying that a problem does exist and I would seriously consider it before you get an old PS2.

RichG, I know ur heated but i\'m still gonna be on the safe side (I read a lot of ur posts about the crap ps2\'s). I figure I will potentially be saving myself from the evil sony support hotline and their 120 dollar repair fee.

thanks for the advice

spch 30001 is the orig model, spch 30001R is the new model, look on the back of the console or on one of the sides of the box for the model no., its it\'s the r one your good to go, if its the one without you may have an old model or a newer one but without the r, the only thing the r does it allow you to use the official dvd remote without haveing to take up 2,000 MB of your memorycard.
But it\'s just my way of knowing if it\'s a good one or not :)
